MACCABI JUNIOR CARNIVAL This past week we hosted a bowling evening for the Maccabi Juniors during their Carnival event. They absolutely loved it. Feedback from their organisers was that it was a highlight of their week. They enjoyed seeing that it is a competitive and challenging sport. We took this opportunity to gain visibility for bowls to the Juniors. Along with our Schools Program this year, many hundreds of students have now had a great introduction to the game. We hope that events like these pay off down track, when they remember the fun, competition and social enjoyment they had. Well done on the amazing effort a lot of Armadale Members have put in to assisting in these successes. It is very much appreciated.
2 VACC DAY. The event was filled to capacity again this year, and once again it was an outstanding success. Many players returned for the 5th time; since inception. Congratulations to the many Prize Winners. Including an ARMADALE TEAM IN 3rd Place. Well done to you all. The Top 3 Places went to: 1. Lyn Quigg, Henny Cortenbach, Garry Tarrant, Ray Travica: $ Alan Veitch, Hugh McClusky, Peter Wisnewski, Paul Titcombe $ Jeff Hunter, Steven Rubenstein, Ashley Beckwith, Karen Rubenstein $500 Many other smaller prizes are awarded. The line-up was very competitive again this year. Two participants are representing their respective countries in the Commonwealth Games; Kelly McKerihen Canada. And Ali Forsyth New Zealand. We wish them and all of our Aussie Squad great success. We thank Joe Shneider for his huge effort in securing this Sponsorship for us. Geoff Gwilym, VACC Executive Director, attended the prize-giving. We would like to acknowledge the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce for their tremendous sponsorship again this year. 5 CARTOONS OF THE WEEK.
6 JOKE OF THE WEEK Now that I'm older here's what I've discovered: 1. I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it. 2. My wild oats are mostly enjoyed with prunes and all-bran. 3. I finally got my head together, and now my body is falling apart. 4. Funny, I don't remember being absent-minded. 5. Funny, I don't remember being absent-minded. 6. If all is not lost, then where the heck is it? 7. It was a whole lot easier to get older, than to get wiser. 8. Some days, you're the top dog; some days you're the hydrant. 9. I wish the buck really did stop here; I sure could use a few of them. 10. Kids in the back seat cause accidents. 11. Accidents in the back seat cause kids. 12. It's hard to make a comeback when you haven't been anywhere. 13. The world only beats a path to your door when you're in the bathroom. 14. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he'd have put them on my knees. 15. When I'm finally holding all the right cards, everyone wants to play chess. 16. Its not hard to meet expenses... they're everywhere. 17. The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth. 18. These days, I spend a lot of time thinking about the hereafter...i go somewhere to get something, and then wonder what I'm "here after". 19. Funny, I don't remember being absent-minded. 20. OOPS. DID I TELL YOU ALL THIS BEFORE...??????
