NOTTINGHAM INDOOR BOWLS OCTOBER NEWSLETTER 2016 Hi All, Julie White and the indoor staff welcome all of you back for indoor season. Well here we go again with the indoor 2016/2017 season. To all of you that continued indoors I hope you hae enjoyed your summer bowling.the indoor leagues hae been popular and well supported this year. To all those who went outdoors we can now put away our waterproofs, body warmers and brollies, seriously though I hope you hae enjoyed the outdoor season and been successful with your competitions and leagues. I do beliee a few of our indoor players hae been ery successful in arious outdoor competitions. Chairmans Corner. Welcome back those of you who hae been playing outdoors, I hope you hae had a good summer. We hae re-decorated the changing rooms and the lounge area with new LED lighting panels in the lounge. We are examining the possibility of installing LED lighting oer the rinks. The current lighting is fairly good but ery expensie to run. I will keep you posted on our progress. You will notice that we hae increased the rink and locker hire fees, this is regrettable but necessary if we are to balance the books. Enjoy the new season. Ernie Wray

Quiz Time. How good do you know your dogs Quick joke I rang up my local bowling club, I said "Is that the local bowling club?" He said "It depends where you're calling from.
Club news Shirley and Terry Ellis your weekend captains will once again be looking for your support in the weekend friendly matches, these matches are already going up on the club notice board and are being well supported. There are plenty more of these matches to come during the season so keep your eyes on the board, if you wish to play make sure you get your name down early. The Executie Committee. Please take note of this ruling. The aboe committee would like to clarify matters regarding the buzzer going at the end of a match. If the Jack has not been properly deliered before the buzzer sounds the match has then ended. In this situation if you delier the jack after the buzzer and you continue to play the end this end will not count on your scorecard. Please note the Jack only needs to be deliered before the buzzer sounds. This is clearly stated in your N.I.B.C Bowls Year Book under League and Competition rules. Rule 12 Julie White ( Ref Teams Required For Club Competitions) Entries are still required for the following club competitions. Noice Open Singles - Noice Open Fours - 2 Wood Sets Pairs - Open Fours. Forms are at reception desk. Good luck to both the Men and Lady bowlers this season that are representing the Indoor Bowls in The Denny, Adams, Top Club, Nationals and County competitions. I really do hope you keep me busy this season with the newsletter. Any results to my e.mail would help. P.S If your are short I am aailable (only joking) and you can forget saying that from what we hae seen you are often short, I just thought I would get that one in first.
OPEN TRIPLES LEAGUE SATURDAY 8.30 AM This season we hae increased the number of teams in the league from 8 to 10 and at the time of writing we hae 70 players signed up to teams. I fully realise that people do not like change but by increasing the number of teams I hae had to ensure that there is a mix of experience/ inexperience across all teams. The number of people that hae changed teams is minimal and I would like to thank those indiiduals for their forbearance. It is not fair to keep some teams unchanged and strong at the expense of other teams. Last year I changed the teams in the same way and it was a great success because at the end of the season there were ery few points between the top 6 teams. Eerybody was beating eerybody and it was impossible to say who was going to win each week. It was a ery exciting finish with the last games of the season identifying how the league table finished. Already the same thing is happening this season after only four games played. All teams hae won a game and eerybody is beating eerybody. Brilliant!!!! With 70 players this season from to 10.30am we will hae 5 rinks for league matches and the other 3 rinks will be specifically for Saturday League players who are not playing in a match but want a roll up. The only exception to these times will be when Denny Cup (6) and Adams matches (One with a 10.00am start) are played. My thanks to the reception staff and to Ted Riley (Head Coach) for introducing me to new bowlers to the club so that I could inite them to join the Saturday League. It has been ery pleasing for me to see so many bowlers who hae or are bowling in the Saturday League now playing in mid-week league teams and in club friendlies. To me it is all about deeloping peoples bowls skills and enjoying the friendship of others. At the end of the day more bowlers = more competition = more reenue for the club = keeping the club open for eeryone to enjoy what is a loely sport. Phil Morley Saturday League Coordinator and Bowls Executie Committee Member
Last week saw our first isit this season to Potters Bowls Holiday Centre at Hopton On Sea, Four hundred bowlers started the competition, the Notts teams were split into different mini leagues playing four matches each. The week turned out to be a success for the players from the Notts clubs playing with the Nottingham I.B.C team with four teams progressing to the final stages. Four teams made the quarter finals then three in the semi finals finishing with an all Nottingham final. Nottingham also won the Team Trophy for total matches won.
