DD&SWQ Cricket Inc would like to invite all players and families to Toowoomba for the 2014 QJC Under 12 State Championship. The attached information sets out arrangements to date for this championship. A second newsletter will advise further details once all zones have replied to the following:- Arrival and departure times Means of travel Team numbers requiring accommodation Will there be any females trialling for your zone This information would be greatly appreciated by 21 September so further planning can take place over the September holidays. Once teams have been selected could you please advise the following by 31 October:- Dietary requirements Player list for MyCricket Gender make up of team, players and officials. 3 Introduction Welcome, My name is Janet Sperling. I am the Secretary of DD&SWQ Cricket and Carnival Co-ordinator for the U/12 State Championships for If you have any questions that are not addressed in this newsletter please feel free to contact me on Ph: (H) or or - ojsperling@gmail.com This newsletter sets out most arrangements for the QJC U/12 championships to be held in Toowoomba from Monday 15 to Friday19 December, All teams will be accommodated at Downlands College, Ruthven Street, Toowoomba. Games will be played at Downlands College and Toowoomba Christian College, New England Highway, Highfields. At Downlands College work may still be in progress around the college as they prepare to be ready for the Year 7's 2015 school year. You will be advised at the Coaches/Managers meeting which areas out of bounds for the week. The College is a smoke free zone. Competition A total of 12 teams will be competing. Games will be played from Monday 15 to Friday 19 December, Games will be 50 overs per team with quarters cricket played in this age group as per QJC rules. Championship Games Venues Games will be played at Downlands College on turf (3) and synthetic (2) with Toowoomba Christian College synthetic (1). Toowoomba Christian College is approx 10 minutes from Downlands College. In case of wet weather synthetic wickets will be utilised at Godsall Street, Newtown Park No 1 & No 2 ovals (cnr. Tor & Pottinger Street Toowoomba) Spikes are not compulsory but would be beneficial if players have them. Players / Officials are not to wear spiked shoes when assisting with the covers. In the event of rain during the course of the day, it is the responsibility of the batting team to ensure the wicket is covered. Games from Monday to Thursday will commence at 9.00am. Games on Friday will commence at 8.30am to allow for presentations and teams to catch flights/ buses. Team 1 bats am to 10.40am then Team 2 bats 10.50am to 12.30pm Lunch pm to 1.10pm Team 1 bats pm to 2.50pm then Team 2 bats 3.00pm to 4.40pm A canteen will be operating at Downlands College, unfortunately there will not be one at the other ground/s. Accommodation All teams will be accommodated at Downlands College, Ruthven Street, Toowoomba in dormitory style accommodation from Sunday night to Friday morning. If teams require any accommodation on Friday 19th December please advise. Additional costs will be incurred for this service. 3

4 All teams will be met by a DD&SWQ Official at the bus circle and once all team members are present will be shown to their accommodation. Buses please enter via Messines Street, all other vehicles can enter via Ruthven Street. The rooms are ventilated, no fans or air conditioning. All Linen will be supplied including a pillow. Players and Officials need to bring their own towel/s & toiletries. There is a Rec room on each floor of the dorms with TV.. Teams will be able to use the pool under supervision only (Coach or Manager). The cricket practise nets will also be available for use. Accommodation will be available for any females attending. All teams are reminded NO unauthorized form of sport or activity is permitted within the accommodation area that is likely to set off the fire alarms. In the event the fire alarm is activated the offending party/parties will be billed for the attendance of QFRS. All teams travelling by private transport should arrive by 2.00pm on Sunday 14 December. Please Note: After hours must use Ruthven or Messines Streets to enter and exit Meals Breakfast and dinner will be served from the dining room. All teams playing at Downlands College will have lunch in the dining room (no spikes allowed) and teams playing at Toowoomba Christian College will have their lunch delivered to them. Please notify of any dietary requirements ASAP after selections, please include Coach, Manager and Scorer. Times for Meals Breakfast - All teams 7.00am Monday to Thursday & 6.30am on Friday Lunch pm to 1.10pm Dinner - All teams 6.30pm Sunday to Thursday All players & officials are required to have closed shoes in the dining room. No lunch meal will be available to teams upon arrival on Sunday 14 December. There is a shopping centre, North Point within walking distance from the college if teams require a meal or to stretch their legs. Opening Address An opening address will take place before dinner on Sunday evening in the Dining Room. Transport All teams are to organise their own transport to and from Toowoomba. Stonestreets Coaches - Ph: info@stonestreets.com.au Buses will be provided for teams playing away from Downlands College. Parking for parents will be signed, please enter via Kate Street for teams playing at Downlands College. At Toowoomba Christian College there is a designated car park. 4

5 Laundry Laundering of players whites will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Laundry bags will be provided to teams, please ensure all clothing is clearly labelled. Non-whites will have to be laundered by parents or officials. Washing machines are available for use at the College, please bring your own washing powder. Players should have two sets of playing pants and shirts Photos A timetable will be advised in the next newsletter when teams have advised their arrival times. Coaches and Managers Meeting A Coaches / Managers meeting will be held on Sunday afternoon 14 December. The time will depend on all teams being present. At this meeting, the QJC representative, host representative and a representative of the umpires will be there to go through any rules needing clarification. QJC Championship Booklet QJC Booklets will be given out at the Coaches and Managers Meeting. Playing rules should be given to Coaches & Managers before arriving in Toowoomba. Any queries regards these rules will be addressed at the Coaches and Manager meeting. Championship Draw The draw has been done By QJC, the ground allocations will be advised in the second newsletter. Match balls will be given out at the Coaches Managers meeting. If any balls are lost or damaged replacement balls will be available Championship Meritorious Awards Closing of the championship will occur at the conclusion of play on Friday afternoon at the Downlands College main oval. The Shield will be presented to the winners and Meritorious Awards will be acknowledged for players who score 50 runs or take 4 wickets or a hat trick (per innings). Large Water Containers All teams are responsible for their own large water container. A water container will be supplied for teams flying - FNQ, NQ, MW. Players and Officials must have their own personal water bottle. Shade for Parents / Spectators Parents and spectators attending the games should ensure they bring their own seating and shade. First Aid Teams will be asked to provide their own First Aid kits to treat minor injuries. The Manager of the team will need to have Medical Forms for all players. 6 Scorebooks Teams using scorebooks are requested to use EASY SCORE carbon copy scorebook as advised by QJC. ALL top copies of the scoresheets are to be handed into the canteen at the completion of the day's play. These scoresheets are required so that results can be entered on MyCricket every night as well as to record players individual results and team points Costings Costings once ratified by QJC co-ordinator will be forwarded to all participating zones.
