Prices remained firm in a difficult year with both the breeding cattle and suckled calves selling especially well. One of the highlights of the day were a trio of 8 month Aberdeen Angus x South Devon steers for Mr. R. Sadler of Mawnan Smith realising 790 with an older Aberdeen Angus steer at 905 for Mr. A.J. Marsh of St. Clement; and Angus s also leading the heifer stores at 810 for Mr. J. Payne & Mr. R. 6 3 RD PRIZE SALE OF SUCKLED CALVES The 3 rd Suckled Calf Prize Sale met with an entry of 110 suckled calves forward for our Special Charolais and Limousin Society sponsored day and a packed ring of buyers with a continued firm trade throughout. Calves sold well with prices similar to those seen at this time last year in the various classes. The British Charolais Society prize jackets for top price Charolais-sired steers went to Messrs. H.H. & P.D. Hocking of Towednack whose best bunch topped at 770 with heifers from Mr. B.G. Coon of Penwithick selling at 490. Philip Hocking s prizewinning Charolais steers saw this top bunch at 770 Class 1: Steers born from 1 st March 2018 Aberdeen Angus x to 790 for Mr. R. 8 SOUTH WEST LIMOUSIN CATTLE BREEDERS ASSOCIATION The Association kindly donated 50 for the best priced Limousin-sired suckled calves and this was achieved by two steer calves from Messrs. R.A.F. & R.M. Roberts of Gweek, Helston which realised 710 and were 2 nd in Class 3. Rosettes for 2 nd and 3 rd placed cattle go to steers from Mr. P.I. Hodge of Manaccan, Helston at 700 and 690. Hodge SPECIAL OCTOBER BEEF BREEDING SALE A part dispersal of Pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle took place at Truro Market on behalf of Mr. J. Payne & Mr. R. Brewer of Polita Bridge herd at St. Columb. A large crowd in attendance saw the cows and calves, in-calf cows and heifers together with young bull and followers sell to a cracking trade. Top price for the day was their young 21 month old Pedigree Aberdeen Angus bull which sold for 1,650. Cows and calves sold to 1,020. Young in-calf cows sold to a top of 1,300 averaging 950 and in-calf heifers sold to 1,000 averaging 950. A run of bulling heifers sold to 810. A further entry of three Pedigree South Devon heifers for Mr. R. Clemens of St. Ervan, Wadebridge. Top price was 980 for a fine specimen that had enjoyed a successful showing summer, the others selling close behind at
