Thank you to those who have sent in photos of their growing areas. We need more members to send them in, to be put in our newsletter orchid crawling by proxy. Have you seen ideas you can use in these pics? I did. We now have a few people with their wish plants on the Wish List. Is there a particular orchid you are after? - then ask for it to be added you might get lucky. Christmas Party is not far off details will be given soon will see two events close by. 1] A workshop to be held at Batemans Bay in March, with speakers and orchids from top nurseries for sale. 2] South West Conference & Orchid Show to be held at Moruya, in October. Orchids will be on sale. :) A.M. SEPTEMBER 2018 NEXT MEETING: 8 th October, 2018 This month is the A.G.M. & also the presentation of the Spring Show trophies. See you there. CWA Hall 57 Wason Street, Milton NSW Plants to be benched from 1pm, once all is set up, and before 1.30 pm. GROW COMPETITION. Grow Comp. plants - Sarco. Kulnura Kaliedescope Frangipani x Roberta Good Yellow, & Den. Superstar Bright [ 2017 comp. plant], should be brought along each month. There will be small squares of paper for you to write your name on [ place it under your plant, name down]. The table behind the President s seat is the spot to leave them. They will be judged and points given 1st 3. 2nd 2. 3rd 1. These points are added to your points for monthly benching. Competition continues until one is brought in flowering. From thinking that plant numbers would be down and profits also would be down, an incredible 240 plants were benched, which I am told is a record, and a very decent profit was made. Rod will outline financial details in his Report. When members were asked, you stood up and helped out, filling the gaps of those members who normally help out and were unavailable for various reasons. Thank you. A very big thank you to those members who worked over the three days, from setting up on Friday, to packing up on Sunday, a job well done. October 5th & 6th Show [ E.O.C.] - M.U.O.S. Congratulations to the Championship Winners, especially Elizabeth and Tony Karacsonyi, who took out the Champion of the Show and the Reserve Champion of the Show. Found this chart while looking for information on plant mineral deficiencies. Now you too can read, look and worry like I am. We had many enthusiastic, willing workers selling tickets, greeting visitors, making posies plus many other occupations. :) Mitch [ very experienced], our friendly, potting demonstration expert,has many interesting orchid growing areas.
