So I want to remind everyone that Registration is open for the 2018 York Area Sportsman for Youth, Youth Field Day! This event, for kids age 8-15, is a day long adventure in outdoor events. The kids will visit a dozen or so stations. They will do trap, rifl e, muzzleloader and archery shooting. They will go trout fi shing with our awesome trout folks, run an obstacle course, learn from trappers, outdoorsmen and conservation district offi cers. They will observe retriever dog demonstrations and may paddle a canoe in our little lake. There will be a goody bag for each child, door prizes and a lunch for all kids and their accompanying adults. Every child, or group of children, MUST bring an adult (adults bring chairs and water bottles!). The best part? This event is TOTALLY FREE, and open to the public. We can guarantee your child will come home dirty, tired and happy! From the President s Desk: There is one catch, you MUST pre-register. The accompanying fl yer has the details. Please send your name, address, and age, with a self-addressed stamped envelope, to York Area Sportsmen for Youth, PO Box 32, Dover, PA They will return a numbered registration confi rmation to you, as this event is limited to 200 kids. 3 AQUATIC RESOURCE RESTORATION COMPANY NATIVE NURSERY ; Bonnair Rd.; Glen Rock, PA Open Mon-Sat 8-4 Sun 10-3 Native plants for stream, wetlands and buffer projects as well as to establish food and habitat to attract wild life. ARRC s native nursery is home to over 350,000 native plants, including: Trees Shrubs Grasses Wetland Plants Ground Cover Flowers Berry Bushes Fruit Trees Vegetable Plants Evergreens Junior News The annual Easter egg hunt is approaching very fast. To prepare for the egg hunt, we will be decorating Easter eggs on Friday, March 23 at 6:00pm at the clubhouse. Donations of hard boiled eggs can be dropped at the clubhouse that afternoon and evening. The annual Easter egg hunt will be held on March 24 at 1:00pm on the club grounds. Everyone is welcome! Anyone who would like to help hide the eggs can come at noon, prior to the start of the actual hunt. Come join us and have some great family fun! Opening day of Trout (March 31) the Juniors are selling food starting about 5:30AM to around 1:00PM. We also plan to sell bait. We are accepting donations of baked goods. We plan to setup around 6:30 PM on March 30. If you plan to help please let me know so I can plan accordingly. We will sell our Blue Bird Boxes we made in February at the next open meeting and at Go Green in the City on April 21 (York City s Earth Day event). Please submit updated forms and $20 Juniors membership dues for the 2018 year. If you need a membership form let us know or visit the IWLA website. 4 Pistol Committee On Saturday, March 17th, 22lr match. Again, for more details check our site at a week or so before or us at yorksignup@gmail. com with questions. The Rimfi re Precision Match has its roots in PRS style centerfi re matches. Each shooter will be required to engage distances from 10 up to 200 yards. It s approximately 130 round count, 8 stage match (bring 200) that may include positions such as, standing, kneeling, prone, barricade, and improvised fi eld positions. Targets sizes will vary from as small as 2 MOA up to 8 MOA. There is a Fun Shoot scheduled for March 24th if you haven t been to one of these it is a great time to get some practice in, bring family and friends too. Our FunShoots are a great venu to introduce yourself, your friends and family to shooting. We don t ask much in the way of equipment or experience, just that you are safe at all times. Our FunShoots feature a unique variety of targets and shooting options, to accommodate the novice.22 plinker to the pro multigun shooter. The emphasis is on safety and fun. You can learn more by watching this blog, and just showing up on shoot day. We usually shoot the 4th Saturday of the month. In April we will be busy. Sunday, April 8th is the next 3 Gun match, and another one is scheduled on May 20th. Remember all ranges are closed on this day until around 3:00 pm. On April 22nd we ll be shooting Steel Challenge. Then on April 28th we ll be having a Fun Shoot. Please subscribe to to be notifi ed of news and events. Izaak Walton State Division Elections On April in Bedford Pa. the State Division of Pennsylvania Izaak Walton League will have it s annual convention. With that is election of offi cers of the division. The Division needs people to help run the division. The opening positions include: President, Vice President, Treasures and Two National Directors. I encourage anyone to help run the division, There are great opportunities for the league. These all are one year term, the national director is three year terms. 6 Other News Orientations Orientations, where we tour the grounds and discuss rules and features of the club are mandatory for prospective members, and interesting for existing members. The next two for 2018 will be: Saturday, April 7th at 1:00 pm and Sunday, May 6th at 1:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. We meet in the upper fl oor of the clubhouse. Club Championship July 22nd - We re still working out the details but the 4 events will include: Rifl e or larger, standing offhand unsupported. Scopes will be allowed. 25 rounds. Pistol -.38/9mm or larger semi-autos or revolvers. Iron sights only. 25 rounds. Shotgun - one round of trap. 25 rounds. Archery - Hunting class compound, long or recurve bows only. No scopes or crossbows. 25 arrows (shot 5 at a time). Each event will be worth 25 points. You may shoot one or all events. Best scores win trophies. Entry fee will be $25. This applies to day and evening activities, specifi cally the way the school district does. Club Rules - It is the responsibility of ALL members to enforce the club rules. Particularly on the ranges. If you see someone breaking club rules or doing something stupid say something. It only takes one round leaving the range or accident to get the ranges shut down for all of us.
