2 Féile Week Monday 2 nd August Sunday 8 th August 2010 Féile Festival Parade Sunday 1st August, assemble at 12.00pm at Kennedy Centre, parade departs at 1.00pm. Kick off the festival week with the West Belfast Féile Parade! The parade will finish at Dunville Park for a family fun day jam packed with music, street performers and activities. Colin Neighbourhood Partnership All Ability Sports Day and BBQ Monday 2 nd August, Colin Youth Development Centre, 11.00am-3.00pm Fun and activities for young people with and without disabilities. Then why not take part in a Hike a Day on Monday 2nd, Tuesday 3rd, Wednesday 4th, and Friday 6th August? Locations include the Mourne Mountains, the Glens of Antrim and Divis/Black Mountain. For further info contact Paul on Samba Soccer Summer School Monday 2nd August-Friday 6th August, 9.30am pm Brook Activity Centre, Summerhill Road, Twinbrook Samba Soccer has been described as the most exciting new development in youth sports training and brings all the fun, flair, and passion of soccer to young people. The skills of the Brazilian soccer stars are legendary and this school brings the very best coaches to work with aspiring young soccer players. From ages 8-16 years. Please bring a packed lunch and refreshments. No football studded boots permitted. 25 registration for the week. Participants will also receive a Samba Soccer kit and ball. For more details please contact Youth Initiatives (YI) at Colin Health Information Day Tuesday 3rd August, Dairy Farm Centre, 10.30am-4.00pm Free health checks and screenings for diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure. There will also be information stalls on healthy lifestyles, physical activity and men s health etc. Colin Fun Run/Walk Tuesday 3rd August, assemble at back of Dairy Farm Centre, 6.30pm Test your fitness, or just have fun, by joining in the annual Colin Fun Run. You will also have the opportunity to raise funds for charity. Trophies will be awarded for 1st Male, 1st Female, 1st Under 15 Male and 1st Under 15 Female. Medals will be given to all participants in the event. Fee: Adults, 5; Children under 18, 2.50; Family of 4 or more, 10. All monies go to Cancer Research and Macmillan Cancer Support. The ever-popular Bat Nights at Colin Glen are back. Come see a different side of the Forest Park as we give a guided walk in search of the elusive Pipistrelle Bats the smallest species in Ireland. Use bat detectors to search for these nocturnal mammals. Fun for all the family! Admission: 3 per person. Participants are advised to bring their own flashlights. Colin Festival Parade, Fun Day & Colin s Got Talent Thursday 5th August, Dairy Farm Centre Assemble at 12.30pm at St Luke s car park, parade will make its way to the Dairy Farm Centre for the Colin s Got Talent Competition. Theme for the parade is the 3 M s: Myths, Magic and Monsters! If you are someone with a special talent, come along and show it off to the local community. Five minutes in front of a live audience could be a stepping stone on the path to fame! The Colin Youth Inclusion Project Artwork Exhibition Friday 6th August, 12.00noon 3.00pm Young people from the Colin area participated in a 10 week art course celebrating individuality. All art work created over the 10 week period will be displayed in the Dairy Farm Centre. GAA Festival Saturday 7th August, 10.00am-4.00pm, Brooke Activity Centre Under 16s 7-A-side tournament. Local GAA teams from Lisburn and West Belfast will be competing for the Colin Cup and the Colin Shield. In association with Lisburn City Council. To enter a team or for further information contact Terry on Musical Heritage Walk Saturday 7th August Begins at 11:00am. Location: Colin Glen Forest Park. Join our Heritage Officer and local musicians as they bring the history of Colin Glen to life through stories and song. This guided walk is a magical experience as tunes echo through the glen. If you listen carefully, you might even hear the Black Bull racing by or the faeries laughing among the ferns. Admission: 5 per person. 2 3

Dairy Farm Training At Dairy Farm Training we deliver programmes and training courses on an ongoing basis. We deliver the Training for Success programme, Apprenticeship NI programme and Steps to Work programme, as well as other tailored courses and management consultancy programmes. Programmes are available now, please contact Ronan Heenan (Centre Manager) on or by on r.heenan@dairyfarmtraining.com to discuss your training requirements. Training for Success is for school leavers (from years old), this programme provides vocational training and work experience in the vocational area (i.e. administration, childcare, sports & recreation etc.) that the school leaver is interested in. Apprenticeship NI is for people (of any age) who are in employment who wish to gain professional training within the area that they are currently working in. We offer this in a range of vocational areas such as Childcare, Administration, Management, Warehousing/ Distribution, Care, Customer Services, Retail and Contact Centre. Steps to Work is for anyone who is currently unemployed. This programme provides them with different supporting options to help them gain employment. The support covers their own personal development needs through to vocational training and work placements, depending on the individual s circumstances.
