Soon the Kingborough Tigers Football Club will be making a very important decision on whether it actually wants to go down that path and the members of the club will vote on it. If you would like to have a say in the future football opportunities for your children in the Kingborough area then taking out a membership of the Senior Club and being part of this process would be very worthwhile. **** UNDER 8 FRIDAY NIGHT GAMES The dates of our upcoming night matches at Kingston Beach Oval are listed below. 2 80 s NIGHT Brendan and Rachel Williams Natalie and Cameron Ellis Tasha and Clayton Brook with DJ Kenny Smith What a great time was had by all at the Back to the 80 s night a few weeks back. There were over 100 ridiculously clad parents and friends of our Club, the Kingston Crows Cricket Club and the Kingborough Super Rules teams. We were thrilled to have Don Johnson, Warwick Capper, Pat Cash, Peggy Bundy, Crystal Carrington and several Madonnas in attendance! We also were impressed that Cameron Ellis still fitted into his St Virgils school uniform! Best dressed prizes were awarded to Vivien Darren Poland who mohawked his hair and pierced various body parts for the occasion and Sally Donnelly who managed to stay upright on roller skates most of the night. Movie characters from Top Gun, Teenwolf and Footloose were there, as were rockers Alice Cooper and Axl Rose. Many thanks to Kenny Smith our DJ for the night whose many costume changes and dance floor accessories kept us entertained until the wee hours. Also big thanks to Kirk Hughes for making it happen and our hard working bar staff Nicky Wilson and Mike Glancy. Thanks also to Senior Club President Rod Herweynen and Bar Manager Mick Langford who joined us for the night and stepped in for an hour or two to man the bar to give Nicky and Mike a break. This was much appreciated. Janelle and Chris House and Marc Owen, Andrew Downie Kirk Hughes and Jane Lamprill Karen and Darren Poland and Tim Smith

CONGRATULATIONS The boys who represented the club in the Blue vs Gold Development Series Games on Sunday 17 th of June did us proud. Well Done! Under 12 Development Squad Representatives L to R: Kye Newson, Ethan Brock, Joseph Dalco, Jack Howarth, Ben Donnelly and Patrick Kelly Under 13 Development Squad Representatives L to R: Bailey Jones, Brady Rees, Hugh Dixon and Mitch Brouwer Under 14 Development Squad Representatives Back L to R: Blake McCulloch, James Bones, Josh Roberts, Jordan Long Front: Jackson Keogh, Jakob Lister

Under 14 Congratulations to the following Under 14 players who participated in the Blue vs Gold representative match on Sunday 17 th June. Kingborough was represented well in this age group. Well done Jakob Lister, Jackson Keogh, James Bones, Blake McCulloch, Jordan Long, Josh Roberts and Patrick Garth-Smith (emergency). Three of these boys have been chosen in the Southern Under 14 squad of 32 to be trimmed to 24 for a match against the Northern Under 14 s in September. Well done James Bones, Jakob Lister and Blake McCulloch. Under 15 The STJFL has selected a Southern Under 15 squad of 32 boys which will be trimmed to 24 for a match against the Northern U15 s in September. Congratulations to the following Under 15 players who have been selected in this squad: Brandon Batchelor, Nick Dodge, Luke Graham, Kieran Lovell, and Lachlan Watt. Under 15 Development Squad Representatives Back: Jack Pearce, Luke Graham, Nicholas Dodge, Lachlan Watt, Brandon Batchelor Front: Josh Huizing, Kieran Lovell OUR CLUB TEAM BY TEAM Auskick Coach: Blair Turner On Saturday 30 th June our Auskick group will be playing at the Twin Ovals during the half time break in the Kingborough vs Huonville. We have a big group participating and they are incredibly excited Under 8 Cougars Coach Phil Burrows, Team Managers Brett and Lisa King Last Sunday saw the Cougars best game of the season! Despite the mud and rain, the boys rallied together against a strong team from Channel and displayed their ever-growing skills out on the field. We welcomed Thomas P to our team for his first ever game of footy, and he fitted into the team like he d been there all year. It was a goal-fest, with 7 boys contributing goals for the Cougars, including spectacular multiple goals from captain of the day Jayden, James B, Hayden, an impressive 4 goal haul from Josh, and very exciting first ever goals for Jonty and Robert Z. James Mc had a wonderful game and was very strong all over the field he also won the prize for the muddiest player after a spectacular shot at goal! Robert F, Thomas M and Max showed excellent skills in the rough conditions and provided great assistance in setting up numerous goal opportunities. Blake was once again a stand-out team player and despite the wet and slippery conditions took some amazing marks. The last quarter saw the rain close in and the wind chill factor create Antarctic conditions despite badgering and numerous bribes our stoic timekeeper could not be persuaded to end the game early! The boys had a ball and ended up covered in mud... it s the only time they don t get in trouble from Mum for being so messy! Best play of the day...watching the boys faces the first time a big kick landed on a car bonnet with a thud (horror soon turned to laughter as they once again got away with something they usually would get in big trouble for!) Once again we thank Phil for all his efforts and leadership to the boys especially in continuing to train over the holidays and coaching despite his own son being unable to play with a broken arm. Get well soon, Will, we miss you! The boys are rewarding Phil by demonstrating growing strength in all areas of the game, and excellent sportsmanship and team play.

Under 8 Black Coach Marc Owen, Team Manager Tracy Williams Of all the games played last Sunday it was unanimous that the Under 8 Black teams match at Cygnet first thing in the morning copped the worst of the weather!! The photo gives you some idea of the bleak conditions the boys faced. Under 8 Tigers Coach Ross Latham, Team Manager Jane Lamprill Over recent weeks the Under 8 Tigers have demonstrated how far they have come this season. In our final match prior to the break they put on a fantastic display of teamwork against Channel at Snug Park. Their desire was first rate as was their willingness to move the ball quickly and effectively by both hand and foot. With some of our regular ball winners unavailable for the game it was great to see Ryan Richardson-Bennett, Adam Latham and Joseph Creen step up and lead the way. Jacob Vanderkroef was another fine contributor in his first game for a while whilst Lachlan Mills and Taryn Wolf regularly got amongst the action and won us clean possession. Our most recent match was against the talented Kermandie side at Huntingfield, again the Tigers came to play and it was great to see Sam Hyde regularly being first to the ball and driving us into attack. Harrison Henry-Nelson and Gus Lamprill regularly initiated great passages of play that resulted in goals with the ever reliable Henry Cane and Alex Pepper playing four great quarters of footy. Season 2012 is the first year of competition footy for all the boys and they are doing themselves and our club proud. Under 8 Gold Coach Chad Freeman, Team Manager Renee Pearce The first game back after the break saw Under 8 Gold head down to Franklin to take on Huonville. Under ominous skies the home side skipped away to an early lead which to their credit, the boys eventually pegged back during the course of the game. The team had its first real taste of footy in a Tasmanian winter with several heavy downpours during the match which did little to dampen their enthusiasm. Considering the conditions, the skill level remained impressive with some excellent marks, ground level work and a good spread of goals, in all an even team performance. The majority of the team are in their first season of real games and the boys continue to show improvement in individual skills and match play, team play and a general understanding of the game. The next three weeks see s us take on the Huon/Channel contingent before moving down to Kingston Beach to play out the season under lights.

Under 10 s Half Time Action On Saturday 16 th June our two Under 10 teams took to the big stage of the Twin Ovals for an interclub derby at the Kingborough Tigers vs Cygnet match. The boys participated in all the pregame preparation with the Senior team who were fantastic with the group of wide-eyed 9 and 10 year olds. The Senior coach Adam Henley included them in their stretches and warm-ups and in the pre-game speech in the change rooms. In front of a huge crowd the boys had a short but intense match which resulted in a draw a great result and a fantastic day for the kids and their families.

Under 15 Coach Tim Pearce and Team Manager Jane Huizing Under 15 Trip Our 2012 under 15 trip to Melbourne was an outstanding success over the Queen s Birthday long weekend, with all of the players and dads having a great time. We flew out on the Friday morning, did a quick bag drop at our accommodation and were lucky enough that our bus driver then took us on to the MCG where we had a visit to the sports museum in the afternoon. Afterwards we evaded the rain to pay our first of many visits for a meal at the famous restaurant chain operated by a red headed clown. In fact, McDonald s should send our club a thank you letter for providing them with a great boost in revenue in the winter months. That night we watched Geelong beat Carlton at Etihad Stadium along with 47,000 others, again dodging the Melbourne weather back to our hotel. It was a good game of footy and everyone enjoyed it (apart from the President, a loyal Blues supporter). For some it was their first visit to Etihad Stadium, so it was a good experience for them plus certainly a stressful experience trying to get 37 people back to the hotel amongst that crowd and not lose anyone. On Saturday we went to the Queen Victoria Markets and spent a couple of hours killing time before heading to the MCG to watch the Richmond and Fremantle match. More Melbourne rain and the Tigers couldn t get the job done, however we had a fantastic time at the footy. That Saturday night we went to the bowling alley and arcade game centre at Crown, where the boys enjoyed ten pin bowling, laser skirmish and arcade games for the night plus some unexpected entertainment. A lot of the boys (and dads) saw this night as their highlight of the trip, as it gave us all a chance to relax and mingle together in the one venue. On Sunday we made a trip on the trams to St. Kilda to spend the day at Luna Park. This was also a highlight as the boys had a turn on most rides and had a great time. The last activity was an impromptu visit to the South Wharf DFO complex, where the boys spent the last of their money on a few bargains. The entire trip went off without a hitch, which was a testament to the hard work that Jane Huizing had put in over a long time in organising everything for us. Jackie Vincent and Tracey Jones also put in a lot of hard work in fundraising along with Jane, with a lot of support from our team parents. Thank you too to those dads that came along and helped to take charge and chaperone groups of the boys all over the place. Thank you also to our football club in general, and to all of those who have supported our fundraising efforts over the past couple of years. You have helped to make our trip possible. This is a must do event for future years and helps to create wonderful memories and forge a bond between our players and parents that will last a lifetime. We are grateful to those who years ago decided to begin doing this trip and I personally think it is critical that it continues long into the future. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, our under 15 team behaved impeccably during the trip and certainly did our club proud. The boys are maturing into a fine group of young men that treat our club and other people with respect, but know how to enjoy themselves along the way. Well done boys and lets use this close bond to take us through the rest of the season. Tim Pearce

Under 16 Coach Craig Carter and Team Manager Lance Golding The under 16's are currently in 5th place on the ladder with a 4 win 4 loss record. We have some very important games coming up against teams with a similar win/loss record so the next month of football is vital to the teams chances. Last week we had a very good win against Claremont by 40 points up at the Twin Ovals (our only appearance there for the year). This weeks game was supposed to be down at Snug however unfortunately the ground was closed mid morning Sunday and we had a new venue was hastily arranged at Tynwald Park. The boys battled away well against the top team New Norfolk to go down by 4 goals in a tightly fought contest. 9 FROM THE SENIOR CLUB THIS WEEK Games at home this week at the Twin Ovals vs Huonville. Colts at 10am Reserves at 12 noon Seniors at 2pm See our Auskick kids in action at half time in the seniors game they can t wait!!- Come along and support. TIGER BINGO That s right folks your eyes aren t deceiving you, it s really true, BINGO is making a long awaited return to the Kingborough Community!!! We have embraced the setting up of BINGO from a few different callings. Firstly, from the number of people who have spoken to us about trying to get BINGO happening as a good fundraiser for the Club. Secondly, we are constantly being reminded how great it would be if the Community could bring back the good old days, when the young (over 18) & up could experience a fantastic, fun & games, entertaining, laughter filled afternoon/evening. The idea will be to run BINGO as all year round entertainment, not just in the football season. Of course now days there is a slight difference in the way the numbers come out, no longer is it the ball, barrel & caller system, we would have to move with the times & use the latest up to date electronic system used Australia wide, everything else remains exactly the same though, for a great experience of fun & games!!! We would welcome a small core volunteer committee group of course to start the ball rolling (pardon the pun there), apart from that we are totally ready to launch into BINGO. The thing we are keen to gauge is an approximation of numbers interested in coming along to BINGO and what afternoon/nights would be the biggest drawer of people. For feedback and to register interest, you can address the subject as Tigers BINGO in an to: Kingborough Tigers Football Club or/ our Facebook page, failing that if you wish to contact Gael via her address: burlstars@yahoo.com OR ring Gael on Our first priority is to form a management sub-committee. If you can help in this area please contact Gael, because many hands make light-work and we need another four or five volunteers to help with running the sessions before we can kick it off. We are excited by this project, so please let s get everyone behind the fun and games that is BINGO, TIGERS BUSINESS BREAKFAST On Friday 17 th August the Kingborough Tigers will be hosting a business breakfast with guest speaker Scott Clayton ex Fitzroy player and current Gold Coast Suns recruiting guru. It will be held at the Hobart Function and Conference Centre If you are interested in organising or being part of a table please contact Rodney Herweynen on Rodney.Herweynen@homeloans.com.au or More details will follow...
