2 I know, I know. Even I was surprised games were not cancelled last Thursday. It was reported to be pouring everywhere but the Mall area. But somehow the weather gods smiled upon Drinking Day and keep it dry on our fields until about 8pm. We did have a few teams have to take runs and outs against them because some of their players assumed games were cancelled. (if it was you who didn t show up, you should feel really bad right now). Please remember, if games are cancelled you will be notified. Either your captain should notify you, or you will receive an . If you Inside the Brew... Apparently, some of our flip cuppers ganged together and took on the Republican National party softball team and schooled them. Good job NAKIDs! However, the bar dancing was lack luster this past week. We need to work on that, because we are the party night and bar dancing is our THING! The next NAKID event is another tailgating/beer in hand kickball/dc United game. We had so much fun the last time, that we are doing it again. 3 ASKNAKID? You ask the questions, we give you the answers and all the need-to-know info you ve been asking for...and then some. A player on my team popped the ball up when he kicked, and I yelled I got it! when the opposing team attempted to catch it. Why did I get yelled at? Well, first off, you are a douche. But guess what? There is a rule written especially for you in the NAKID rules called the douche bag rule. This rule states Any non-fielder yelling I got it or anything to call off or confuse a fielder and/or making hand signals to wave off the fielders will be automatically out. The offending player will be removed from the game. If this occurs by the bench of a team, ALL runners will be out. So not only are you a major douche for doing this, but the kicker will be out (which will make him mad) and quite possibly, all the runners on base will be out (more people will be mad at you). You only hope at this point will be to be removed from the game, because your team should be very very pissed at you. Then again, you are probably a douche in other parts of your life, so they probably don t like you anyway. I overran first, then saw that the ball was overthrown so I turned and kept running to second, but was told to go back to first. What happened? You ran too far past first before you made your turn to second. Runners can overrun first. However, if you run past the second foul cone, you are stuck on first base. You can run back to first and then make the charge to second, since you will be back in the baseline. Otherwise, you have to get your butt back to first and stay there. I kicked the ball, and my team was yelling foul so I stopped running, but the fielding team threw the ball to first and I was out. What happened? Your team is not the umpire. Only an umpire can call a kick a foul. A golden rule of kickball is Do not look back and keep running. So just do this and don t listen to your team. If you have kicked a foul, the umps will let you know and you will go back to home to kick again. And teams, please do not call kicks foul or fair, or runners safe or out. Only the umps can do that. Doing this is just unsportmanlike and annoying. This is not softball, its kickball. Enjoy the game!.

Here s another chance to play BIH Kickball. Stay around for the tailgate and the DC United game versus Chicago Fire June 20 Beer,Bourbon and BBQ Festival at the National Harbor. The admission ncludes a sample glass so you can sample all 60 beers and 40 bourbons. There will also be lots of BBQ. Stay Away From Stay away from the 14th Street Bridge. Construction has started, and who knows when it will end. But this week, Will was extra grabby. He was hanging on the Brew Babe quite a bit and then was seen on the dance floor getting down with numerous ladies. At one point he looked like he was trying to swing dance with a lady who wanted to dance in hip hop style. What a way to mix signals there, Will. N o female LOTW No females were worthy. Come on ladies, bar dancing is not enough! (That being said pleaseeee dont stop bar dancing!!)

6 NAKIDEVENTS Kickball + DC UNITED + Drinking = Good Times! WHEN: June 13th, Time: 4:00 PM WHERE: RFK Soccer Practice Fields. We love to try new things, but we also know never, ever mess with something that works. Ask the 75+ people that showed up last time. BIH + DC United is a solid, fun time in the spirit of NAKID. So, we are heading to RFK to see the DC United play. We will have tickets on about the 40 yard line (in football terms) and at the 200 level. Our section will be all NAKIDs. We will have beer, soda, food (burgers and hot dogs), and water. You eat, you drink, play kickball on the next to the DC United practice fields, then you go watch the game. All of this for just $28 (you must pay in advance via the link) and $38 for guests. Bring your friends, bring family, and let s have some fun! BIH Kickball starts at 4pm, the soccer game starts at 7:30pm. You MUST pay at the Paypal link at the top of the page and mark paid in your RSVP. (on the meetup site). Also, remember we will meet on the auxiliary field at RFK and play Beer in Hand kickball where the DC United practice!!! That s right, kegs of beer, fun rules, beer in hand in the field - it will be a BLAST!! RFK is right off the Stadium/Armory Metro on the Blue and Orange Lines. We ll be in Parking Lot 7 and will give more precise directions to where we ll be a few days before game day. 7 KICKBALL RAMBLINGS Picture this scenario: It s a wonderful summer evening, so you decide to take a stroll on the National Mall. You re quite enjoying the night, taking in all of the famous DC scenery when you re struck in the head by a softball and die. Yes, summer in DC means that softball teams are playing on the Mall. Now don t get me wrong; I like softball and I play in a league. Except I play on an actual softball field with basepaths, fences, and no pedestrians wandering around. Aside from the danger that comes from having softballs flying around the Mall, the real problem is that the softballers are taking up all the fields that could be used for kickball. Many of these softball teams are composed of Congressional staffers. And in the summer, the Congressional offices are flooded with college interns. Naturally, the best way to utilize these interns is to send them out to the Mall in the morning and reserve the fields. Yes, these are your tax dollars at work. Instead of paying these kids to have a day long picnic, why not make the effort to get a permit for an actual field? Maybe this would all be tolerable if not for the attitude displayed by the softball players. We need the field so that we can play a real sport. Are you really in a position to disparage kickball as not a real sport? I mean, isn t softball essentially just a dumbed down version of baseball? Yeah, maybe it s an Olympic sport, but keep in mind, it s an Olympic sport for women. Of course, is it really a shock that a Congressional staffer might have an attitude? Listen, buddy, just because you get coffee for a Senator, it doesn t make you important. And it s really only a matter of time until the wrong person gets hit by a softball. Maybe a senator s daughter is out walking, and she isn t paying attention and gets hit. Once that happens, I m pretty sure that all sports will be banned from the Mall. It won t just be softball, but kickball, soccer, ultimate frisbee too. Because after all, overreaction is the American way. So what can be done? Maybe NAKID should hire their own college interns to reserve the fields. I think there are plenty of college students who would jump at the Notice the big-ass safety Fence chance to just sit on the Mall two days a week. Give them a blanket, a hackey sack, and maybe enough money to buy a dime bag, and they ll be set. We ll not only be getting prime field space out of it, but we ll make the world that much safer a place.

10 So this week two teams, Drop Dead Sexy and Kickball Causes P.R.E.P.O.T.E.N.C.Y took on the Republican National Committee s softball team and schooled them. Congratulations to both teams! Also, a shout Out to a NAKID team, called Two Finger Fanatics for winning the 2009 World Series of Flip Cup for the third time in a row.
