2 O The Brew is Back! k, we had a brief hiatus due to the holidays, but the Brew is back for your workday-wasting pleasure! We re coming up on Week 5 of the Indoor season, so hopefully the newbies are now accustomed to the new rules and the insanely fast pace of the game. The bar scene is looking great with many coming out after (and occasionally before) their games to drink, flip and dance their way to a hungover Friday. Keep it up! In this week s Brew we answer some questions you may have about the upcoming Spring season. Yes, it s very early, but we like to be prepared in NAKID by knowing how many of you will be returning so we can plan all the fun stuff for the season! Please sign up if you haven t do so already. 3 ASKNAKID Each week we will provide the answers to your most burning questions. Best one of the week wins a free pitcher of beer. Please send questions to nakid2006@gmail.com. This week s questions are all about the upcoming spring season! When does the season start and end NAKID s 10th season will start March 29 and end June 29. The kickoff party will be March 22 and, as always, last all day and into the night. We have a bunch of events planned for this season including: Beerster Egg Hunt, NAKID Poker Tournament, Coors brewery trip, DC United game and festivities, tubing, and more. Spring will also feature a few new things including a weekend for the Kickball Championship of the Universe that will include two days of games and a party that Saturday night. Plan to be there as it is sure to be ridiculous June Plus the winning team will not have to play six games in one day! Where are the games and the bars Until softball starts we play at 3rd and Madison, right in front of the Capitol. Once softball starts, we play there and anywhere else we can find space. We party around the corner at My Brother s Place and Hamitlon s, located side-byside at 2nd and Constitution. With games starting earlier this year we should be able to get in a few more games at our favorite spot than in seasons past. Teams can go to either bar. Why should I join NAKID for spring kickball A) You already know how awesome we are (especially if you have played any organized sport in any other league). 2) NAKID gives players more for their money than any other league it s not even close. This season weeknight teams will play 9-10 regular season games, 7 innings a game. No other league comes close to giving that much playing time for the cost. That amounts to 3 or 4 more games (innings-wise) than anywhere else. Check out our list of events no one else offers those. We have FREE PARTIES, and they last longer than 3 hours, always. C) Bar dancing, jello shots, and the cheapest pitcher prices for any league in DC (even at $9). I want to start a spring team. At this point our late Thursday chapter is full, but the early one is still accepting teams. Late Sunday is also filling rapidly. 4 This season LOTWs get not only the coveted NAKID Lush patch to proudly display on their shirt (or anywhere else they want), but they also win 2 passes on the Boomerang Bus! Check out the Boomerang and its trips at Gabe, Too Hungover for a Quickie Gabe was in true NAKID form while celebrating the midseason party last Saturday. Toward the end of the night he challenged a much bigger guy to sumo wrestling claiming that he was going to kick his ass and crush him. All of this of course while hammered. Not surprisingly he was crushed in all three rounds of the matchups and completely out of breath from getting thrown around for about 7 minutes. Hmm, beer muscles in a sumo suit don t help NAKID Lushes of the Week either! This isn t Gabe, but you get the idea Adam, Unknown team Also hammered and ready to take on anyone in a sumo suit, Adam had a great time at the party. He did well in his match and won but that s not what landed him in the LOTW circle. After his match a random girl (not in NAKID) walked up to him and after a few minutes of chatting drunk and with a few added pounds in the suit they started making out like they were the last two people on the planet. After about 10 minutes a friend of the girl finally peeled her off of Adam and she left. He proclaimed proudly on Meetup, Absolutely awesome making out in a sumo suit = nothing better! Congrats LOTW. 5 NAKIDEVENTS Week Weeks Weeks Get Psyched For NAKID Poker Tourny January 31 Come out to MBP to watch or participate in the NAKID Texas Hold Em Poker tournament. There are still spots left! Super Bowl at MBP February 1 - Don t miss the NAKID party at MBP for $10!! Beer, food, football, insanely expensive commercials. What more could you want President s Day February 16 It s a threeday weekend! We love those! Stay Away From Inane Answering Message Day January 30 Be careful when placing a phone call. There s no telling how people will celebrate this one. Groundhog Day February 2 That paranoid son-of-a-bitch steals my birthday thunder every year. Friday the 13th February 13 Not that I m superstitious, but just in case let s avoid black cats, opening umbrellas indoors and walking under ladders. Time Will Tell Fun at Work Day January 30 It s kind of an oxymoron, unless you work at a brewery or toy factory, but who knows what kind of shenanigans you can get into. My Birthday! February 2 Disregard the placement, it s a given this will be awesome. One of the perks of being a brewer: I get to shamelessly selfpromote! Happy birthday to me! Valentine s Day February 14 Ok, it s kind of a bullshit holiday, but chances are you ll spend it either with that special someone, or that special cocktail. It s win-win! 6 NAKID Indoor Kickoff Party! Despite the hail and rain, NAKID s 3rd Birthday Party was a great time. A little more than 600 current, past, and future NAKIDs came out to celebrate with beer, cake, and sumo wrestling. Before we get into the specifics of the debauchery, a big thanks to all of those who came out early to help us set up, we really appreciate the help with decorating. The sumo wrestling was a big hit and as soon as the rain stopped we broke it out and the line of willing participants started to fill immediately. Despite some really awful looking spills and pummelings, remarkably no one got hurt! Kudos to Patty and Kim for a great first match, Sandi and Deanna (Sandi was DYING to get the suit on and start wrecking people), John Bennett for allowing himself to be dragged around like a rag doll by Fuzzy, and everyone else who donned the suits for some really funny looking matches. It was definitely a great addition to the party and everyone who took part seemed to have a great time, win or lose. Inside the bars there was the usual drinking, flip cup, pong, and making out going on. At Hamilton s the crowd was pounding through kegs like it was the last weekend at college and calling for jello shots almost immediately. A few trips through the upstairs allowed a few shots to make NAKID - Indoor January 21,

7 it to the lower level which were gone within seconds. Big ups to NAKID Hall of Famer Dana of Drinking You Pretty, who stocked up with 10+ shots not once but twice. And no, she didn t share em! We also spied a number of makeout sessions despite all of the chaos going on around, ahh NAKID love (or at least make outs for the night until the walk of shame in the morning). In typical fashion, My Brother s Place didn t get going until later on, but once it did we had NAKIDs dancing on the bar and rockin the place out. All told the beer and shots lasted for about 7 1/2 hours right until the police starting towing cars because they were shutting the street down for a dress rehearsal of the inauguration! Hopefully no NAKIDs lost their vehicles, as we saw a number of you leaving just in time. Big thanks to Al for the NAKID birthday cake, which he made from scratch. Another great party! 8 Game RECAPS The Monkeywallers got their leader back and stopped breaking things long enough to beat Too Hungover for a Quickie, The Jingle Hoos got a win with a 16-6 score against Chaos in a Box. Jolly Blue Balls got to play twice this week, first losing to Where My Pitches At 38-11, then beating the Xtacles Just the Tip kept on winning with a pounding of Kickstart My Heart, which is on a losing streak. Breaking its season-long losing streak was Formerly Lookin to Score with a forfeit win over the no-show team Weapons of Mass Seduction. The final games of the night saw Drinking You Pretty barely fall to Where s Your Beanpot while the DMGs proved they are not just for making out with a win against Frozen Ballers. 9 We know it s cold outside but if you want to see standings for this people need to play. Let s go Xtacles, rally some people and get teams into this great game! We are still waiting to see some smackass flip cup, which is a lost art and should not be reserved only for outdoor kickball! Please note that you need to play and play often to get a good standing in the rankings, so no complaining if your team is sitting and eating while others are playing and thus your ranking is not where you want it. In order to move up you need to show your stuff this week s rankings: 1. Xtacles - Play often and win often. 2. Jolly Blue Balls - As always, a formidable team. 3. Drinking You Pretty - Pound for pound the best, but rarely playing. 4. Formerly Lookin to Score - Must be more consistent to move up. 5. Monkeywallers - Always at the table. 6. Chaos in a Box - Playing well, could be a sleeper team. 7. Jingle Hoos - Our pick to make a stealth move. 8. Frozen Ballers - Need to see more to move them up. 9. Where My Pitches At - Seriously, you re this bad! 10. Just the Tip - Good on the field, but what about here 11. DMGs - Good dancers. 12. Too Hungover for a Quickie - Too much pong playing. 13.
