The Official Newsletter of NAKID September 26, 2007 Unfortunately there has been a consistent problem on Tuesdays with teams not obeying the rules and umpires not enforcing the rules, so we are going to address this one time and one time only. To pitchers: The rules make it clear that while pitchers may cross over the strip while in their pitching motin; they MUST try to get back behind it before the ball is kicked. Taking one or more steps toward home plate constitutes cheating. Pitchers caught doing this after being warned will from now on be removed from the game. This past week two teams did this. It will no longer be tolerated. To umpires: The rules MUST be enforced; it is not your decision to call a rule wrong for both sides or to enforce some and not others. The above rule must be called to make the game fair. If the home plate umpire cannot call balls and strikes and watch the pitcher at the same time, then task the third or first base ump to do that. Saying, I can t do both or I will call it the same for both sides is not acceptable. Umpires who refuse to enforce the rules will be removed from the game. The reason this rule exists is to make the game fair for everyone, especially women. If most women cannot bunt they will not play in NAKID. If women do not play in NA- KID there is no sense in having a league. So enforce and obey the rules. 3 The Weekly Brew September 26, 2007 TUESDAY RECAP: SCHOOL NIGHT The lone undefeated team left on Tuesday fell this past week in a game that featured some less than fair play as mentioned on page one. Carlton Banks Dance Academy lost to the Transplants, 4-1. Pour Me Another Hurricane managed to defeat Drinking You Pretty Balls Deepest won a close game over Donkeystyle by a 5-4 final. No Happy Hour this week, but we have the Twice on Sunday, Bocce, and OG Chapter Anything but Clothing Midseason Party! The party is this Saturday from 7pm-1am at th St. N in Arlington just 4 blocks from the Virginia Square metro station. The theme is just as it sounds, you can wear anything you want to as long it s not clothing. The best and most inventive outfit will get you $100! As always, the players on Sunday will be allowed in for free, School Night and Drinking Day players will pay just $5 ($10 with no costume), and guests will be permitted to attend for $10 ($20 with no costume). We ll have flip cup, a dj, and lots and lots of alcohol. You won t want to miss our first party of the fall season, so make sure you are there! The Normalizers also found some problems obeying the pitcher s mound rule in falling to the Dirty Pirate Hookers, 5-4. The Medicine Balls are still looking for their first win after losing to Third Base on the First Date, Again, we d like to see a better turnout at the bar and hopefully that will happen this week.

4 The Weekly Brew September 26, Events You Don t Want to Miss September 29 Midseason Party for OG, ToS and Bocce Anything but Clothing! We will be just a 5 minute ride from the Rockville Metro at Erica s house, 4501 Muncaster Mill Rockville, MD. The party will be from 7pm to 1am and we will do the 70 s/disco theme that some people here have wanted. We ll see how it goes. Drinking Day and School Night players attend for free. Sunday pays $5 ($10 no costume) and guests are $10 ($20, no costume). So, we expect to see all the Marylanders out there as well as the rest of you. We will pick people up and drop them off at the Metro as well. October 13 Beerlympics Fall 2007 It's time again, NAKID Beerlympics. We have spots for 20 teams of 6 this season! The games of the fourth Beerlympics will take place at a TBD locale, outside. We will have scheduled 10 events including team flip cup, Leap Frog flip cup, Build Me a Beeryamid, Das Boot and more! This is FREE for all NAKIDs, $10 for Friends of NAKID. Teams are encouraged to dress in costumes. Check in is 4:30-5pm. Slots are limited to only 20 teams. PLEASE ONLY RSVP IF YOU ARE DEFINITELY FIELDING A TEAM! Teams MUST have 6 players. The winning team will receive trophies and some cold hard cash; plus the bragging rights! We also need judges so please indicate if you are willing to judge. Judges will be working but drink for free, too! Please a list of team names and all of your members to japva2000@yahoo.com. As soon as we have a location, RSVP will be open. October 20 NAKID Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament This event is limited to 40 players. The buy in for NAKIDs is $30, Friends of NAKID pay $60 - all the money goes for prize money. This means the winner will take home at a nice amount. The buy in gets you food and beer/soda. Make sure you get there on time and bring cash if you are not paying in advance. If you RSVP and do not show, you will be charged for your seat if you do not change your response by Oct 10. Who will take home the NAKID bracelet and prize money this time? 6 The Weekly Brew September 26, Capitol City Carnival and Beer Festival: All The Hoppy Goodness You Missed On a bit of a warm and overcast day NAKID headed out for what sounds like it was made just for us the Capitol City Carnival and Beer Festival. Morning bus ride mimosas got the trip started off right, and after having to leave a bent over and I- have-to-go-and-can t-wait Kevin Chenery of the Blumpkins off about two miles from the festival site, we arrived. We had a drawing for a backstge VIP pass as we disembarked and it was won by Shawn (aka Muscles) of the Hoochie Mamas. The pass also got him free food and beer all day. Inside there was a definitely different vibe from the Wine Festival of a week ago. Hoola hoops, hemp, and hippies abounded. And within an hour or so, many NAKIDs were feeling pretty good. As the day wore on and the NAKID ladies became princesses (complete with halos and flowing bling) a few of our drunkasses got a ride around the grounds in a golf cart. Our contigent from THAT Team seemed pretty well baked and having a lot of fun, as did the ladies of the Blumpkins. Several good brewers were represented at the festival and we enjoyed the tasting but, sadly, due to Virginia s laws we could not actually buy any beer to keep. So, in true NAKID fashion, we consumed as much as we could there. Some people rode the ferris wheel, others ran the obstacle course, but mainly we stayed in

7 The Weekly Brew September 26, the Sober Up tent and just kept drinking in the shade. While many were disappoimted that we could not stay for George Clinton, there were a couple of sightings of him backstage by the NAKID VIPs. Most people seemed pretty well done by the time we left at about 6pm as it was. Another great NAKID trip that we will definitely be repeating in the future.

8 The Weekly Brew September 26, The Magic 8 Ball was less then pleased with the amount of flip cup played this past week. However she will say that Third Base on the First Date is clearly her favorite team owing to the fact that they are ALWAYS willing to play. They may not be the best, but they are at the tables and never turn down an invitation to play. The rest of you need to take a cue from them and get out there every week. The standings: 1.
