6 The Disc Golf Hall Of Fame is an independent organization dedicated to the promotion of disc golf, its premier pioneers and players. It was founded in 1993 by Lavonne Wolfe #580 of Huntsville, AL. Lavonne also created what is now known as the Headrick Memorial Museum, a collection of memorabilia that help describe the history of our sport, housed at the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, GA. Now in its 23rd year, we would like to welcome three new members to the Hall of Fame, 4 time World Champion Des Reading # 15863, former PDGA Executive Director Brian Graham # 5861 and one of the best promoters and disc golf organizers in the state of Colorado, John Bird # 387. On behalf of the Hall of Fame Committee, we thank you for all your years of dedication to growing the sport; your names will forever reflect all your accomplishments on and off the course. John Bird #387: John is widely seen as the most notable promoter and organizer of disc sports in Colorado and around the country. He created the United Flyers of Sonoma, served as co-td for the Nor-Cal IFA tournament in 1976, and has helped install over a dozen disc golf courses in Colorado. John threw discs even before they were called discs, and distinctly remembers the first time he threw a Pluto platter. Ever since that day in Marysville, CA, he s been hooked and has spent years to promote and grow the sport of disc golf. Brian Graham #5851: Brian was first introduced to disc golf in 1989 and joined the PDGA the following year in He has since been a mainstay in our sport; TD for numerous Majors and NTs, founder of the Augusta Disc Golf Assoc., PDGA Regional Coordinator, installed and designed several disc golf courses, plus many more accolades. He most notably served as the Executive Director of the PDGA from , where he founded the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, GA. Under his leadership and guidance the PDGA experienced unprecedented growth and popularity. Des Reading #15863: Des began playing disc golf in 1992 as a way of decompressing from a demanding collegiate lifestyle as a student athlete. She joined the PDGA in 1999 and just a few short years later would win her first of four World Championships. Her resume is filled with countless achievements and accolades, heavily influences by a passion to introduce disc golf to youth and educators world-wide. She helped found EDGE in 2002, and is still heavily active in the organization to this day.
