It is a focus of both myself along with the other members of the Austin Golf Club staff to bring about a number of the PGA s youth initiatives. Until this past year AGC has a very minimal junior golf experience that I have worked with both our team members and our members to develop something that is long lasting with room to grow. That being said we are looking to move into the exciting realm of PGA junior league and build a competitive and fun environment to be shared with not only our member s children but other young golfers. Briefly describe your involvement in the promotion and development of youth golf at the club level and within the community: At AGC I like to think that we do junior golf a little different we focus on creating a fun and encouraging environment that both develops the golf skills of our juniors as well as the individual interpersonal skills. This is pretty standard among what we would consider a good junior program to cover but the difference in our current program is in the commitment level. We operate similar to a gym membership in the aspect that the families sign their kids up but weekly or daily commitments are not required. For instants we offer a clinic every Sunday that brings generally a large crowd, but kids have busy schedules and don t need golf to be seen as an added pressure. We use our clinics as an opportunity for relationship building amongst both coaches and other junior participants this makes golf course a welcome and entertaining aspect. Entertainment is something I have worked to build here at AGC if we want to continue to see these juniors time and time again we as instructors must first make golf Fun. As for the community I have over the year attended field days at the Boys and Girls club to introduce the game of golf to juniors whom often have never had any golf experience. I also regularly attend a local high school and junior high team s golf practices to volunteer my time free of charge to the school or parents. Accumulating some 250+ hours of community service. Briefly describe your image and leadership in the area of youth golf and the nominee s overall integrity: Integrity is a staple within the golf program at Austin golf club; if I as a coach am unable to be a role model to our students then the program will be a failure as a whole. Youth golf is more than just teaching the swing and how to post a good number. Youth golf is sportsmanship, friendship, and developing our youth into young proactive adults. That said I strongly believe the junior program in just a short tie has shown kids of all ages and locations how they can connect. As a young professional I often find myself relating easier with our juniors because of that it s my duty to lead and be the face of right and wrong for many of our juniors. The golf professional is often seen a professional athlete similar to that of a J.J. Watt, Tiger Woods, or even Steph Curry and because of that I hold a great responsibility and honor to help our juniors grow. Limited to 1600 characters or approximately 250 words 4.) Describe how you inspire fellow PGA Professionals and promote the game of golf: I have worked hard to grow and promote junior golf at Austin golf club with growing our junior program came with growing our staff. I have been very fortunate to have 5 other professionals to help me. We have gone through a number of discussions and brainstorming sessions as to how we can promote our game within the club. We work side by side creating lesion plans and agendas so both the instructors, parents, and most importantly the juniors know what to expect when they come out to the golf course. As well having gone through the PGA PGM program at Sam Houston State University I have developed quite a large network of young professionals all of which have juniors and/or are working on growing the game at their own clubs. This has provided me an opportunity to gain advice from professionals all over the country as well offer up my findings and what I have come to realize works best. I enjoy sending kids to college to play golf and also helping other juniors that may not have an opportunity to play an opportunity. I use all the avenues that are available to help afford the kids the resources to play golf. I also like to use communication portals via Junior.Golf and now Operation 36 to give our kids a consistent level of engagement. We try to show an invested interest in the juniors game. Describe how you inspire fellow PGA Professionals and promote the game of golf: I talk with fellow PGA professionals to get ideas as to how they do their progamming and what their offer/price points are. I also explain to them what we are doing here at Cypresswood. I work closely with our Professionals inside our PGA Jr. League conference to schedule events and begin discussions about doing more outisde of the official PGA Jr. League season. 25 Name: Brian McMyler PGA Classification: A-6 Facility: The Domninon Country Club Year Elected to Membership in the PGA: ) Briefly describe your contributions to youth golf programs in the STPGA and on a national basis including service as a chairperson or as a member of the Junior Golf Committee: My main focus has always been to develop Jr golfers and to teach them all the aspects the game has to offer. All the junior golfers that participate in our programs strive to play in STPGA Jr golf tournaments. This year we had two PGA Junior League teams with players that have won STPGA Jr tournaments and some that have yet to play in an individual event but will in the future. I have personally helped hundreds of juniors to develop their skills and play in STPGA Jr golf tournaments over the years. Limited to 1600 characters or approximately 250 words 2.) Briefly describe your involvement in the promotion and development of youth golf at the club level and within the community: I am the PGA teaching professional at The Dominion Country Club and have organized and run four main programs to develop junior golfers at the Club: Jr Golf Team, Afterschool classes, Summer Jr golf camps and private lessons. The goal is to have a place for each level of junior golfer so that they fit in where they can develop to be their best. We have 10 weeks of junior golf camps during the summer, this year we had 150 kids attend. During the school year, we have an afterschool program that is two days a week with 30 kids learning the basics of golf. These classes are great for beginner junior golfers to be with others with similar abilities. Our more advance program is our junior golf team. This program is year round with three seasons which includes summer, fall and spring. We practice for two hours two times a week, and we play matches or tournaments against other clubs in our area. This summer we had two PGA Jr League teams that had a total 27 members. This coming fall season we will have six clubs playing in our junior Limited interclub: to 1600 Dominion, characters or TPC, approximately Sonterra, 250 Silverhorn, words Fair Oaks and Canyon Springs. The interclub tournaments are for both the experienced player and those playing in their first organized golf tournament. I am proud when I go to junior tournaments around our section and I see juniors that I have had on one of my junior teams.

26 3.) Briefly describe your image and leadership in the area of youth golf and the nominee s overall integrity: I feel that I am a good teacher and enjoy developing junior golfers. I not only promote how to play golf and improve their golf skills but feel strongly that the game of golf will develop better citizens and interpersonal skills. I feel that my integrity comes out in my teaching, and I encourage juniors how to be competitive while still exhibiting good sportsmanship. Limited to 1600 characters or approximately 250 words 4.) Describe how you inspire fellow PGA Professionals and promote the game of golf: I try to inspire other PGA Professionals to develop junior programs for all levels. I have been running a junior team every year since 2005 when I started at Canyon Springs and have kept the concept going during my 5 years at The Dominion. I have been promoting the team golf concept to other golf professionals for years and now we are up to 6 teams in our interclub. This program has been a great success. I highly recommend this type of program to other golf pro friends. I have a few players that are in the Little Linksters, and a few of my students have made it to the Championship in Houston, Texas. I also have few other students who play in the junior links tour, Junior tour, I also have a few of my students who compete every year they can for the Long Drive, chip and putt at Corpus Christi Country Club. Briefly describe your involvement in the promotion and development of youth golf at the club level and within the community: My involvement in the promotion and development of youth golf at the club level and within the community is a honor to teach the next generation of golfers who one day take my place. I promote the game of golf with flyers and with social media using the club app. I also do junior camps in the summer and invite the local community whether you are a member or not. I believe each kid should have the opportunity to be giving a chance to learn and play golf. The summer camps have proven to help golfers get ready to play golf in High School and in college.

I Teach each student that playing golf will also help you in life, whether you play for a college or play at the highest level, golf will teach you discipline and integrity, even when no one is watching you, your leadership skills will show you who you really are. Briefly describe your contributions to Youth golf programs in the STPGA and on a national basis including service as a chairperson or as a member of the Junior Golf Committee. Over the past 10 years, I have worked closely with the STPGA in the integration and execution of the STPGA Junior Golf Pathway. Southern Texas Junior Golf is one of the biggest junior golf programs in the country. It was formed on the principle to introduce and provide youth the opportunity to Learn! Play! Compete! while playing golf. As a STPGA Club Professional, you make our jobs easy to do. It can be very confusing to our consumers if they do not know the junior pathway and the 5 W's (who, what, when, where, and why). Thank you STPGA! I support the STPGA by educating parents and by helping to build confidence and motivation to junior golfers that I see and work with to play and experience the game by participating in one of the 4 different tours that the STPGA organizes and operates. Our team also supports the PGA Junior League. To date, we have completed our 7th season running the PGA Junior League and I am happy to report that we have had over 400 athletes who have participated in this league play since its inception in What a great success for junior golf! I have been a PGA Class A member in good standing for 20 years, LPGA Tour member for 33 years, and in the process of completing my Class A status with the LPGA T&CP division. It is through my dedicated involvement and love of learning that I am able to tap into the vast resources that are readily available from these National Organizations. I am part of the Player Development Team at the Woodlands Golf Performance Center. My love for coaching has given me a great opportunity to the grow the game and make a huge impact on the lives of children and adolescents. I am a Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coach who embodies the ideas of the Double-Goal Coach, which is striving to win, while also pursuing the more important goal of teaching life lessons through golf. I also want you to know that I am an advocate of Physical Literacy! I started a Face book page that is called PLAY which stands for Physical Literacy and Youth Golf. I started this a year ago showing that golf is physical literacy. I post pertinent information on what is physical ;literacy and how to implement physical literacy on a day to day basis. Most importantly, I love what physical literacy stands for: all inclusive, more about development, and the importance of mental health as it relates to physical literacy. I am excited about PGA of America's support and backing of the American Development Model. It is exciting that PGA of America will release an ADM for

32 golf. As Ted Logan, PGA of America's Player Development Consultant, says " it is about growing participation". Simply put, "as many as possible, for as long as possible, with the best experience." This motto reminds me that environment is number 1! The environment needs to be a fun, engaging, and progressively challenging atmosphere with developmentally appropriate activities that emphasize motor and foundational skills. 2.). Briefly describe your involvement in the promotion and development of youth golf at the club level and within the community. Over the past four years, I have been involved with the promotion of the Woodlands Golf Performance Center through the use of social media. I have been able to successfully grow our brand, attract new athletes, and highlight some of the amazing young athletes that come through our various programs. Since I started posting on Facebook, our page has grown significantly. We host over 700 followers and 685 likes. In the last 28 days, our posts reached 8,903, 3296 engagements, and 27 page likes. Additionally, these metrics have been generated organically, rather than paid sponsored postings. I have been able to accomplish this by utilizing a weekly content schedule to connect with the digital audience within the community. The schedule allows for a community to stay heavily involved with our day-to-day actions as a junior program, while creating a strong, fun brand that attract new families to explore the game of golf. The best part of social media is the ability to inter connect with STPGA, PGA of America, PGA Tour, First Tee, PGA Junior League, LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, LPGA, LPGA T@CP, Legends Tour, Aspen Institute of Sports, ADM, Sport for Life, Physical Literacy, Active for Life, and Positve Coaching Alliance, and US Kids Golf. The programs we offer follow nicely to the STPGA principles. My fellow team mate and junior golf expert, James Larkin and I ran several programs together the past three years. Our success story, was our involvement in implementing Physical Literacy in both of our PGA Junior League teams in We measured Physical Literacy base-line skills at the start of the season, we then proceeded to use Physical Literacy Movement Preparation sessions at each practice and match. We tested fundamental movement skills, golf skills such as, drive, chip, and putt scores, and filmed golf swing techniques. At the end of the season, we collected the same data, where we found substantial development. We also answered our question "If we implement physical literacy into a league program, would we see improvement in both movement skills and golf skills?" The answer being yes,we found that both boys and girls, improved by 18% in their physical literacy scores by running them through a structured warm up practice twice a week. We didn't find the same to be true to golf skills due to the fact we only had 45 minutes to work on drive, chip, and putt skills within the six week program. Interesting findings for our first attempt! Both Coach James and I have continued implementing physical literacy in 2017 and 2018 in our PGA League teams. By doing this, we have seen great benefits in our team dynamics, social interactions and the importance of being physically active.

33 Another successful program that we run is Off-Campus PE golf program. What makes this program successful is that we work together with our strength and fitness coach named Isaac Teran twice a week. I call Coach Isaac the Incredible Hulk. He creates a learning environment that is fun and challenges everyone to be their very best! His motto is " a new day a better you!" It takes a well supported team to nurture youth development. Thank you to my team! On a community level, I volunteer with the Woodlands Methodist School Golf Team, grades four through six. My involvement with the team includes both implementation of physical literacy and the development of basic golf fundamentals. I am currently starting my third year in this program. Girl s Golf Girls Golf is the largest growing segment in golf. In 1995, girls made up only 17% of all junior golfers. Today, girls golf represents 1/3. Girls are getting and accepting the message that golf can be both welcoming and fun thanks to the innovative programs like LPGA-USGA Girls Golf. Thanks to Girls Golf, I started a girls only program called Squad Golf five years ago. Girls Golf Squads is a developmentally appropriate skills-based clinic held throughout the year. It is broken into three age groups U9's(7 and 8 year olds), U11's (9 and 10 year olds), and U13's(11 and 12 years old). The overall theme of Squad golf is Physical Literacy. The term Physical Literacy may sound intimidating, but it is actually a simple concept. Physical Literacy is best described as the competency to move, the confidence to move, and the motivation to move. The echoing message that I use at each class is "I Love movement! I Love golf!". I use a Physical Literacy Movement Preparation Session to warm up the mind and body and golf movement circuits to enhance feels and patterns before making full swings on the driving range. Squad Golf has grown and evolved from my personal call to action, 'What can you do to implement Physical Literacy in your community?' My 'Call to Action' takes this a step further to address the Gender Gap in Girls. This is what drives me as a Coach. What is the Gender Gap? Research on Motor Competence by Dr. Dean Kriellaars tested over 30,000 students ages 6-13 years old from in Canada. 18 movement skills were tested. Examples of these movement skills are: run a square, kick a ball, strike with a stick, and overhand throw. In comparing boys and girls in competence in motor skills, girls at best were only minimally competent in skills such as hopping, galloping, and skipping. The Study goes on to say that girls by the age of 8 and 9 years old lose confidence to participate in sports or activities due to their lack of competence in these skills. The strong message here is if you break competence you break confidence. We see after puberty, the separation between boys and girls in confidence and motivation widens into adulthood. Another question was asked to this same group, 'Do you believe that being physically active will make you happier? By age 12 and 13, girls associate unhappiness to being physically active. The study goes on to ask, do you have enough skills to participate in any sports and activities? The answer to this question was no and was influenced by what is called social inhibition in performing in front of others. The girls do not feel comfortable moving in front of others.

34 As you can see, we need to educate ourselves in developing female athletes and address the gender gap. The critical age is age 10, if a young girl has not participated in a sport by this age she only has a 10% chance to play sports or other activities into her adulthood. My goal is to develop physically literate girls and women. How can I do this? The best thing I can do is to continue to educate myself and tap into the resources that are available on Physical Literacy. Some of these resources are admkids.com, aspenprojectplay.org, womenssportsfoundation.org, girlsgolf.org and activeforlife.com. Just to recap, I invest in my students and build relationships with the families so that I know 'Johnny' or 'Jane'. It helps me to support each individual and their family. So for me, the most important thing I can do is to use the Physical Literacy Cycle: Competence + Confidence + Motivation = Participation = Physical Literacy. Knowing the scientific data helps me design for development and be intentional with planning. LPGA USGA Girls Golf - (Community, Inclusion, Friendship, Values, Leadership, and Mentorship) 1.). LPGA USGA Girls Golf Experiences - I host and run this free national initiative aimed at bringing more girls to the game. This year's theme is Bring A Friend. This campaign has significantly increased girls participation by 25% here in The Woodlands. By being a Girls Golf Site director, you will receive free Girls Golf gifts and clinic supplies when you host national events. Thank you Girls Golf! The girls golf experience exposes participants to the 5E's of girl s golf: Empower, Enrich, Energize, and Exercise. I encourage all STPGA Club Professionals to become a site director for girls golf. Currently there are only 7 site directors in the Houston Metro Plex area. Everything you need to know to get involved can be found on girlsgolf.org! 2.). Girls Golf Rocks - I host free monthly clinics throughout the year for girls ages 5 and up called Girls Golf Rocks. I have been running these clinics for the 7 years and have enjoyed watching the girls grow in golf and life. 3.). Girls eleader Program - This is a volunteer and mentorship opportunity for girls ages 13 to 17 who want to earn volunteer service hours and gain experience in teaching, marketing, communication, and more. This free monthly program is taking off! Each month, my husband, Kevin Kirk and I will sit down with the girls and talk about what it takes to be a champion on and off the course. I also bring in other girls that have gone on to play in college and professional golf to share with the girls their stories and what it takes to play at a high level. The girls in this program have an open-door policy to teach and work alongside me at any time. I love being a positive role model and mentor to these girls. My belief is "you can't be what you can't see.!"

LPGA Girls Golf Leadership Academy- In 2015, the LPGA foundation introduced the LPGA Leadership Academy to teenage girls ages The LPGA Leadership Academy uses the game of golf as a platform and learning tool to help develop the girl's confidence, communication, and leadership skills. To date, we have had 3 girls participate as scholarship recipients in this program. Quoted by one the girls, "it changed my world!" As you can see, I love empowering girls to play golf. Through this program, I am able to instill many positive key messages to the girls like #LittleGirlsBigDreams, #letsgetgirlsgolfing, #ican, #likeagirl, and #changingthefaceofthegame, and #thisgirlcan. 3.). Briefly describe your image and leadership in the area of Youth golf, and your overall integrity, I view myself as an innovator, leader, and someone who dreams big. Quoted by John Quincy Adams, "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a Leader." I am forever inspired by Carol Mann, who was my mentor and good friend. She taught us all to dream more, learn more, and be a mentor to someone. The things I learned from Carol Mann is to love Jesus, serve others, be trust worthy, authentic, show humility and gratitude, and always be open to learning from others. Thank you Carol! Youth Development requires a passion and love for child development, an ongoing study to learn more about LTAD(Long Term Athlete Development) and LTPD(Long Term Participant Development), skill progressions that can be built upon, and skill acquisitions that builds confidence, and meticulous planning to ensure the design of developmentally appropriate programs and competitions. As you can see, I push myself to keep up. More than ever, it is my belief that, with Golf now in the Olympics, it is key to follow the Physical Literacy journey. The good news is, we are beginning to see major stakeholders and sports working together to provide individuals, organizations, and institutions with current and relevant information. At the highest of levels, information sharing is occurring from the experts around the world, who are working synergistically to contribute to the collective knowledge base. I am constantly searching for answers and solutions to further my coaching/athletic horizon, and to keep pressing the envelop for youth golf. To do so, I have a list of questions I ask myself daily: How can I infuse physical literacy in my daily life and at work? How can I inspire the people around me? How can I grow, and promote the game of golf? The answers to these questions are ever changing, and sometimes difficult to create solutions for, however by surrounding myself with an amazing team, and people with diverse backgrounds from around the world, we take it step by step to ensure we are on the cutting edge of Youth Golf Development. Youth Golf Development is my passion!, Girls Golf is my passion! Golf is my passion! 5.) 37 Name: Ben Willman PGA Classification: Facility: A6 Axis Golf Academy and Fitting Woodforest GC Year Elected to Membership in the PGA: ) Briefly describe your contributions to youth golf programs in the STPGA and on a national basis including service as a chairperson or as a member of the Junior Golf Committee: I used to work for The Performance Center at Lake Windcrest golf club where I ran a large junior program and had in excess of 200 kids running through multiple programs. At Axis Golf Academy I probably have around 150 kids in the program. Some of these kids start with us at the grass roots level and some have been playing a while when we meet them. I d say 90% of them have interests in competing and the STPGA is the obvious choice I recommend every time. I feed a lot of students to the STPGA programs such as Little Linksters all the way to the Prestige Tour. I had enough students this year and last to have my own league in PGA Junior League Golf, and have personally taken at least three teams over the past five years to the Reginal and National finals in the competition. Parents see the success of my team and want to take part in the program the following year driving more business to the STPGA. Limited to 1600 characters or approximately 250 words 2.) Briefly describe your involvement in the promotion and development of youth golf at the club level and within the community: Being a partner at Axis Golf Academy allows me the opportunity to run as many different programs as I d like for junior golf. I try to have junior programs that cover all the basis at the academy. Some of our junior programs run throughout the year such as our Junior tour (ages 10-12) and our Little Tykes tour (ages 6-9). These programs are hourly clinics with course play after. I also have seasonal programs such as Drive/Chip/Putt clinics that are run before the Masters and camps in the summer and holidays. PGA Junior League Golf is a very large program at the academy run during the summer. I have been part of this program since its inception. I recently noticed that we had more boys than girls in a lot of the programs this year so with the addition of a female instructor to the team we have started a Girls Golf Rocks program. Running programs such as the above allows us to develop youth golf in the area and although I can t take credit for all the success, I m certainly part of the reason why the local area has so many great youth players competing at such high levels. We recently got involved with Home schooling in our community hosting a booth at the Texas homeschool convention in the Woodlands. I also run afterschool programs and OFF CAMPUS school programs. I have several different social media outlets where I post to promote programs and get the local community involved in what we are doing Limited to 1600 characters or approximately 250 words

38 3.) Briefly describe your image and leadership in the area of youth golf and the nominee s overall integrity: Integrity is everything for me. You have to act like the person you want to be, and I try to install that in my students on a daily basis. One of the programs we run really emphasizes this; PGA Junior League Golf. This program allows me the opportunity to instill good ethics and moral character by showing the kids (and parents!) how to act in both victory and defeat. I try to keep current with social media, posting pictures of kids that I teach playing well and winning events. I feel this is important because it shows the kids that I m proud of their performance and hard work. I want to be somebody who the kids feel like they can talk too and approach with any question or concern. I recently presented with my partners at The Proponent Group summit in Orlando on Junior Club Fitting. We were able to help other PGA professionals around the country understand the importance of kids being correctly fit for golf clubs and the ways to do this. Describe how you inspire fellow PGA Professionals and promote the game of golf: Golf has always been a passion for me and I feel very thankful for the opportunity to teach the game. I try to inspire fellow PGA professionals all the time. I currently serve on the tournament committee with aspirations of serving on different committees in the future. I feel it s important for me to be a leader and someone for fellow professional to look up too and ask for help. This runs through my life in the way I present myself to the way I conduct myself. Playing the game for a living was a dream of mine when I was growing up and even though I don t play any more I still play as often as my schedule permits and make a point of playing in all the section events. I feel this is a great way to promote and grow the game as well as interacting with my fellow professionals. When I can recall stories or have examples of personal failures and successes I can really connect with my students. Education is huge with myself. I want to be a leader in my profession. I am continually educating myself with new ideas and concepts and seeking out individuals who can make me better.
