Ray expects us to raise between $6,500 and $7K on this significant Rotary Fundraiser Thanks Ray... Anne Osborne reminded the club that the Sacramento Capitals will contribute a portion of ticket sales for Friday Night s Match to Polio Plus She suggested you check this out on our website:

2 Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament: Tina Shaw announced that the Chamber has re-scheduled this event to August 20, to allow Rotary members to participate Thanks Tina Rotary Club of Citrus Heights Annual Golf Tournament: Doyle Phelan announced Our Annual Golf Tournament will be on Saturday, September 28 at Morgan Creek He and Jack Duncan are Chairing this event Flyers and Tickets are expected to be available next week Helicopter ball drop tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25 Shotgun Start at 8 AM with a light breakfast prior We need Foursomes President Rich is working on a Major Sponsor for this event and hopes to announce it at our next meeting Car Seats for CHPD: President Rich announced that the Board approved $200 to purchase car seats for CHPD use in keeping children safe WalMart matched our $200 and President Rich was able to purchase 10 Car Seats Special Thanks to WalMart Oktoberfest 2012 at Citrus Heights Community Center: Steven Bruce (Chair) spoke about each member selling 5 tickets ($30 each) Tickets have been distributed to most of the members President Rich spoke to the Silent Auction Items for this Joint Rotary Fundraiser and indicated that the number of Silent Auction Items is determined by the number of tickets sold Check out the Oktoberfest Flyer on our website: Football Opportunity: Doyle Phelan explained how the Monday Night Football Opportunity works Each Square Costs $33 and each week there is a $25 per quarter winner Winners will be announced by At the end of the meeting there was only one square left to fill Thanks Everyone Sunrise at Night Concert Series: Rebecca Kang announced the Concert Series at Sunrise Marketplace Outdoor Pavilion at Sunrise Mall with Lonestar/Charlie Daniels Band on August 10, Spyro Gyra/Lee Ritenour on August 18, Three Dog Night/America on August 25, The Doodlebops/Caillou on September 1 & 2 Tickets may be purchased at Special Discounts for Rotary are available Use the Code: ROTARY to receive these special discounts See discount flyer at the end of this newsletter Thanks Rebecca Save Mart & District rd Annual Golf Tournament: President Rich reminded the club that the Tournament will be held on July 30, 2012 at Valley High Country Club in Elk Grove and that this event needs more volunteers Contact Rich or Diane Ebbitt for details See Flyer at the end of this newsletter Kiwanis Golf Tournament: President Rich announced the tournament will take place on August 7 and he asked for members to support our fellow service club with another Foursome Contact Rich for additional details Special Letter from John Anderson: Jennifer Riffe read a touching letter from John Anderson explaining his move to the San Diego area and having Jack Duncan help with the liquidation of scrap metal from his property in Washington State John donated the proceeds of the scrap metal sale to our Club in the amount of $3,092 and change John especially thanked Jack for his help in this effort and this announcement was received with a rousing applause Thank You John and all the best to you and Felicia and Family Mystery Night Event Time to Pay: Scott Nygard reminded the membership that there are still outstanding monies to be paid, so if you went on the Mystery Night and haven t paid See Scott Thanks Scott

3 Pins: President Rich spoke about his love of pins and how he intends to recognize the efforts of club members by using them as special recognition Members can nominate fellow members by submitting a nomination letter to the Board.. President Rich spoke about the use of a Ribbon attached to our Badges The ribbon will be used to put the various pins on There will be a Pledge Pin that promises that the person making the pledge will bring one potential new member to our meetings International Pin to signify Peace Through Service District Visionary Pin Paul Harris Pin, etc President Rich is working on a different storage case to keep our Badges with the Ribbons Stay Tuned Gift Cards to Raley s Bell Air Nob Hill: Reminder that we have sold $4,500 worth of tickets The Goal is $10K If you can t sell them, return to him ASAP This is a Joint Fundraiser works Our Rotary Club and Soroptimist of Historic Auburn are partnering to sponsor this 52 week Gift Card Giveaway Each ticket holder will be eligible for a weekly drawing for 52 weeks, beginning July 4, 2012 and ending June 26, The winner of each drawing receives a gift card in the amount of $100 to use at Raley s, Bell Air and Nob Hill Each ticket purchased qualifies for all 52 drawings, so don t lose them Tickets are $20 each Estimates are that this has the potential of raising $7,500 for the Club Sell Sell Sell District 5180 Annual Golf Tournament: President Rich announced that the District Golf Tournament will be at North Ridge Country Club on Monday, July 30, 2012 with a Shotgun Start at 9:30 AM Details are in the flyer on our website: President Rich reported that the club has purchased two foursomes Rotary Shirts: Doyle Phelan announced that he is taking orders for CH Rotary Club shirts Contact Doyle for details Thanks Doyle Wheel Spins: Steven Bruce spun $12 in celebration of his vacation to South Lake Tahoe and His Birthday Happy Birthday Steve Scott Nygard spun $20 in celebration of his weeklong backpacking hiking trip to the Sierra s last week Scott saw lots of deer (big bucks in velvet but no photos They were too just too quick) Welcome Back Scott Fine Master: Doyle Phelan assessed the following fines: If you sat in the same seat as you did last week, you are fined $1 Diane Ebbitt $2 for Visiting Rotarian Introduction slip up Pin Check $1 Jack Duncan fined himself $20 for having his cell phone ring TWICE Program: Jessica Mang introduced Bill Wittich as our guest speaker Bill explained that he was here to talk to us about the 7 Reasons Why Rotary Club Don t Grow The truth is that Rotary Clubs have not grown in the past 10 years 90% of All Rotarians have not solicited anyone for membership Bill spoke frankly and indicated that he was talking to us out of frustration and anger He identified the following 7 Reasons Why Rotary Clubs Don t Grow: #1 Members are Lazy, Don t Care or Membership is not on their Radar Solution: Think About Membership #2 Club Does Not Like Women He expressed frustration about his wife Anne s personal experience at a Rotary club as evidence He also noted that women members tend to bring more women to Rotary #3 Members Don t Like Younger People in Rotary Solutions: Is your website up to date?... Do you have a Facebook presence?...are you on Linkedin???...Have You visited any Groups that represent young people, like a Club??? #4 Clubs Spend Way Too Much Time On Attendance Solution: Consider de-emphasizing attendance to the new RI Standard of 50%...

10 Proceeds Proceeds will go to renovating the Day Camp at River Bend Park in Sacramento. River Bend Park is a portion of the American River Parkway that contributes to the social and academic lives of children in the area. Renovations to existing Gravel base and paving for an additional 8000 sq. ft. parking lot. Paving of trails and driveways leading to nest areas. 6 foot wide trails to connect all pathways and river. Improvements for future Amphitheater steps and benches. Picnic tables and nest benches. Nest campsite renovations. Set up opportunities with schools in Fall 2012.
