1 WSRC #69 ** Welcome Back to Rotary! ** WSRC#69 Chips from the Buzzsaw The Weekly Newsletter of the Rotary Club of West Sacramento Volume 69, Issue #23 January 4, 2018 Meeting Schedule Rotarians gathered to say goodbye to Member Kathleen O Leary at her funeral Mass held at Our Lady of Grace Church on December 22. Kathleen, the longtime Sunshine Chair of the Rotary Club of West Sacramento, was fondly remembered by friends, family, co-workers and fellow Rotarians both at the Mass and at a luncheon reception afterwards. Past Presidents Dan Ramos and Andy Wallace flank President-Elect Troy Francis Bird, who is properly attired for a traditional Irish funeral... as well as ready to hit the town and dance the night away. 1/05/18 Amnesty Day/Fun & Games Must-See Rotary 1/12/18 Len Strickland World Traveler The Rotary Club of West Sacramento Club 558 District 5180 P. Where have you been?? We ve missed you! You were so motivated when you first joined. Now, it s been so long since you ve been to a meeting, you re afraid to come back. Don t be! January 5 is AMNESTY DAY at the West Sacramento Rotary Club. Show up, admit your sins (it s guilt thing) and pay only $5 for a fresh, clean slate. Get back in Rotary s good graces and start the year off right. This is a ONE TIME OFFER take it! Football Pool Recap Week 16 was determined by the outcome of America s Team. Everyone picked Detroit, Jacksonville, and Dallas. Except for Chris Bradford, who went with the Seahawks over the Cowboys, which delivered Coach Bradford s only pool win of the season. David Kamminga won the Week 17 contest with the Tiebreaker in points and also vaulted into first place for the second half total wins contest. Way to go DAVID!!! We ll be awarding your prize Friday. Looks like smooth and steady Ken Ruzich lost his grip on first place as the pressure mounted as taking Miami over Buffalo cost him a championship ring. Jimmy The Greek Belenis won the most individual weekly contests but came up one die short on the final roll (he really should have to join the Club). Peter Anderson lost his focus once he thought Hawaii was more important than weekly attendance. And the Cahills? They didn t get pools in for either of the last two weeks, and therefore are labeled as DNF. Thanks, Chris Bradford, for managing the pool for the Club.

7 Meeting Attendance...Is important Not only is the weekly meeting the time and place we have all committed to come together, it s how we show the rest of the Rotary world that we are a strong and vital Club. Over the course of the holidays, it s natural for attendance to slip, as social obligations multiply. Likewise, it s common in the first year of membership to be overwhelmed by the time commitment that Rotary expects. That s why January 5 is Amnesty Day. We want you back, and a New Year is the best time for a fresh start, isn t it? Some people value their Rotary experience so much, they never miss a meeting. Congratulate these members for their perfect attendance all year. Some of them have lifelong perfect attendance! Peter Anderson, Jim Cahill*, Marty Garozzo, Barry Kaler, Tim Kwong, Siva Sivakumaran and Dick Uno. *he has to show up Rotary International President Ian Riseley Rotary District 5180 Governor Sandi Sava Rotary District 5180 Assistant Governor JR Springer District 5180 Rotary Clubs Meeting Times and Locations So You Can Make Up Each Week Day Who When Where Who When Where Mon Tues Wed Thu Fri Foothill Highlands 12:15pm Lions Gate Restaurant Walnut Grove 12:30pm Tony s Place Sacramento 12:15pm Red Lion Hotel Woodlake Fair Oaks 6:45pm Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse Oroville Sunrise 7:00am The Monday Club Oroville Noon The Monday Club Rancho Cordova Sunrise 7:00am Cordova Casino Marysville 12:15pm Peachtree Country Club Sutter Buttes Sunrise 7:00am The Plaza Room at Hillcrest Rancho Cordova 12:15pm Rancho Cordova City Hall West Sacramento Centennial 7:00am Collins Teen Center Looms Sunset 5:30pm Indian Creek Country Club Sacramento Breakfast 7:15am Evans Kitchen Carmichael 6:30pm Ancil Hoffman Golf Course Arden Arcade Noon Ruth Cris Steak House - Pavilions Rocklin/Loomis Basin 7:00am Whitney Oaks Golf Club South Placer Noon Whitney Oaks Golf Club El Dorado Hills 7:15am Community Service Building Citrus Heights 12:15pm Citrus Heights Community Center Laguna Sunrise 8:00am Valley Hi Country Club North Sacramento 12:15pm Doubletree Hotel East Sacramento Noon Evan s Kitchen Yuba City 12:15 Hillcrest Plaza Room Elk Grove 12:15pm Vince s Restaurant Midtown Sacramento 5:30pm Café Bernardo Folsom Lake (Folsom) Noon Empire Ranch Golf Club Rancho Murieta 7:00pm Rancho Murieta Country Club Historic Folsom 7:00am Lake Natoma Inn Lincoln Noon Lincoln Women s Club Roseville Sunrise 7:00am Gingers Restaurant Roseville Noon Sierra View Country Club Yuba Feather River Sunrise 7:00am Gary s Place South Sacramento Noon Iron Steaks Restaurant Pocket-Greenhaven 7:30am Aviators Restaurant Folsom 7:00pm Rotary Clubhouse-Lew Howard Park Gridley Noon Parish Hall Orangevale 7:00am La Placita Restaurant Natomas 7:15am Hampton Inn, North Natomas Point West-Sacramento 7:00am Doubletree Hotel Granite Bay 12:15pm McCormick & Schmick s Restaurant
