1 ** Dice Tournament October 24th ** WSRC #69 WSRC#69 Chips from the Buzzsaw Our Program: Rainy Day Games When the planned program falls through, we improvise and Rotarians rise to the challenge! With no speaker on the program, the Club engaged in a little bit of icebreaking. Starting out with a game called The Two Davids, we asked a few pointed questions of Members David Wilson and David Kamminga. Next, we moved to Who Does The Best Bird Call, to great amusement. We wound up with Tell Us What You LOVE About Your Job. Top prize went to Amy ( in her jammies ) Busch, followed by JoAnn ( I really DO love my job ) Moffett. Best Bird Call was awarded to the eerily realistic Chris ( Daffy Duck ) Bradford. Tom was not here to poach the raffle, this time, but did come away with a free lunch. Nice to see you, Tom! The Club generously provided $400 in a Pass The Hat to benefit the survivors of the tragic triple homicide at the Timbers Apartments. Donate further at : Used Professional Clothing? Collection continues of: shirts, ties, jackets, belts, shoes and other clothing that are suitable for business attire. These will go to disadvantaged young adults as part of a program to give the training, tools and confidence needed to seek a professional career. Check your closet and donate! That s Andy Wallace taking a turn as SongMaster, one of the many titles available to anyone in Rotary. Bet his Dad is proud... Want your chance? Let us know.
3 Membership Chair Tim Kwong awarded a shiny blue pervisiting Rotarians and Guests manent badge to Amy Busch, in place of her original ugly Visiting Rotarians red badge. Upgrading to blue badge status comes at the premium price of a $5 cash donation. Someone teach Amy Al Franks South Sacramento the secret handshake Tom Engle More upgrading is in store on September 29, when District Governor Sandi Sava visits our Club. Centennial WS Guests of Rotarians Parveen Tumber Amy Busch Mom Elizabeth Esquivel If you re on deck to receive Katy Silva your blue badge, it would be a great honor to receive it from the District Governor. (bottom right) Kevin Baldwin and Phil Nance with Phil s guest, Kelsey Shower. (top center) Amy Busch with second-time guest Parveen Tumber. Have an idea for an icebreaker game, a fun social event or a community service project? We want to hear from you.
4 The Rotary Players...displayed lots of improvisation and talent during our Rainy Day Games, which are not to be confused with Reindeer Games, a topic which might come up in a couple months Andy? Sgt.-At-Arms Marty Garozzo (top right), who last week suffered the indignity of having his last name mis-spelled in CHIPS (really, the only error ever, ever found) reluctantly serves as the first Human Applause Meter. We broke him. Dan Ramos (top left) does his best bird call using his phone and the internet, while Mark Engstrom (almost-top left) also employs his phone, so he can call Big Bird. Ken Wilson (somehow in the middle left) goes without the phone as he tweets his bird call, while (almost at the bottom-left) Troy Francis Bird, who played I Love My Job instead, wonders why no one, really, no one, called him. No one. Ike Parsons (all the way at the bottom-left) posed this question to the membership Am I Crazy? No explanation offered, or asked, but Ike promises more on this, and other topics, soon! Dustin Dumars (right there, you can t miss him) loves when his clients ask about illicit, yet hopefully deductible, expenses. Wayne Enke explains the rules of a different game Our Next Guest Fine Master will be our upcoming Jacklyn 2.0, not the Celebrator Dice Tournament. Beware
5 The Two Davids? Club Photographer David Kamminga recently pledged his hair to the St. Baldrick s Foundation, whose shearing events raise money to fund cancer research. Here is David (still hairy) explaining his plans to the Club at the September 15 meeting. He made promises to shave eyebrows, and darn near anything else, in order to generate excitement (and donations). Rotarians and friends stepped up, pledging $1, (yes, 98 ) to the cause. David was featured on Good Day Sacramento which he reported on (un-hairy) at our September 22 meeting. Good job, David!
