L COMMANDER STEVE CARMAN AUXILIARY PRESIDENT CATHIE McMULLIN COMMANDERS REPORT: Greetings, Had a great month in March with the SAL Golf Tourney (Thanks to Lou and all members from ALL post entities that helped), an awesome band and wing bar for bike day, and a corned beef and cabbage sellout on St. Patricks day!. We have several events in April take a look at the calendar and throughout the bulletin for more info. Few items to note: Vietnam Moving Wall will be at Wickham Park for the Vietnam and All Veterans Reunion May 4-7. See ALR News in this bulletin for details on this years April 30 Wall escort Rider Rib Fest will be in the pavilion Apr 1, 5-7. Mesquite smoked ribs with all the sides/desserts for $9 Auxiliary Meatloaf Dinner April 8, 4-7. Donna Mac s world famous meatloaf! At the Legion General Membership Meeting on April 17, we will be having our second and final round of nominations for Post Officers. The election will be May 13. If you are a new member and have questions, please talk with me or a current officer to learn more about the elected officer positions. 2 NEWS FROM THE SONS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION Greetings SAL Squadron 1, Our next SAL Meeting is Monday, April 3rd at 7pm at the Post. It will be the second and last round of two to nominate our Officers for the 2017/18 year. If you are interested in becoming an Officer, come to the meeting and have someone selected in advance to nominate you. Elections will be held on May 1 st. SAL Breakfast every Sunday 8-11 a.m. in the dining hall. Breakfast buffet available or order off the menu. The 6 th Annual SAL Charity Golf Tournament was another resounding success again this year, held at Willow Lakes Golf Course on March 25 th. Thanks go out to all the Sponsors and kudos to Chairman Lou Napolitano for a great job getting all the sponsors lined up. WELL DONE LOU! Our designated charities for this year s event were Special Olympics of Brevard County and NVHS, our Homeless Vets. I would like to thank all the volunteers for making our golf outing a huge success--you should be very proud. We raised just over $7,500 for Special Olympics and NVHS. Again, thank you all who volunteered, sponsored, or played golf, as it resulted in benefits to our community. The SAL Squadron 1 is honored to be a program of The American Legion Post 1. In our effort to show our deep gratitude and appreciation to the Post 1 Legionnaires, the Sons of the American Legion presented a $2,500 check to Commander Bill Moore for Post 1 during their Membership Meeting, March 20 th. Again, thanks to all my SAL Brothers who continue to step up and volunteer for our fund raisers and benefits. Everyone, come out and support Post 1. You never know, you might meet your next friend there! 5 AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS NEWS Hello Fellow Riders, We have our Monthly Riders Meeting coming up Saturday April 1 st at 10am. If you ordered Tee Shirts please stop in to pick them up. I have also put the remaining shirts out on the rack for sale at the bar. After this month any remaining shirts that were pre ordered will go out on the rack if they have not been purchased. This Month we have the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Escort on April 30 th. Kick Stands up TBD. Watch for s containing further details. This is a very big event that you do not want to miss. Our Riders Meat Shoot was a success. Thanks go out to Eddie Buckhalt who stepped up and did the Bingo Calling. We raised over $200.00! If you haven't come to a meat shoot you are really missing out on a good time. Our next one will be April 15th from 1-3pm. We are always looking for volunteers to help! Our Riders Quarterly Bike Day was a great time. The Bike wash came together at the last minute with big help from Jessi and Cameron! Raffle Ticket sales did pretty good, we were able to profit over $ We made a few people very happy by winning a lot of money that day and we also are able to make donations of $ to the Titusville Police Departments Youth Program and also to the Titusville Woman s Shelter. Lets not forget who and what we are. We are all Legionnaires, Sons and Auxiliary Members. We must not forget our POST. I challenge you all to get up and go to a meeting. I always hear people say they joined just to be a rider, but lets get away from that thinking. Support the S.A.L., Support the Auxiliary, and Support your Legionnaires. Go to a meeting, Tip your Bartenders and Waitresses and always SUPPORT YOUR POST. W have been having about 30 golfers every week, we still have room for more so don't be afraid to come out and have fun with us We play every Fri. at 9:00 am at Willow Lakes Golf Club in Mims FL. We play 18 holes on a par 3 course. We play for prize money, closest to the pin for a free round of golf and a 50/50 drawing. Cost to play 18 holes is $18 to enter the prize fund it is $3.00 Looking for you on the course! Ray (513)

Don t miss the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meat loaf dinner prepared by Donna McDaniel on April 8. It is one of the best in town.
