Please try to participate in our events to insure they are healthy for the future. I would like to thank all section members for their efforts in making the PGA Championship at Oak Hill CC a memorable one. I get thank you's every day from our leadership team. All our National Officers, along with all the National Board of Directors, have applauded our efforts in making the championship special. I will try to share these messages with you at the Annual Meeting in October. Next, I would like to thank our Executive Director, Joe Bertino, Tournament Director, Steve Bartkowski, and Junior Golf Director, Kyle Lewis for their outstanding job overseeing this Championship. I was only on the grounds at Oak Hill Monday and Tuesday but I saw these valued section employees working 16 hours a day for our Section. They should be applauded for all their hard work and time. This Championship would not have run as efficient without them. Thanks guys. Lastly, I would like to thank Section Member, Jon Hoecker for his leadership in the PGA Youth Clinic Monday of the PGA Championship. Jon went above and beyond the call of duty on this project. Thank you very much, Jon. Good Golfing, Kirk Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. 2 Letter from Joe Bertino, Western New York PGA Executive Director Wow! What a season- Although our tournament schedule is still going strong, it has already been an incredible year for the WNYPGA. First off, Kudos to all of you for your outstanding efforts at the PGA Championship- with over 1600 hours of volunteer time being contributed by you, we certainly exceeded the expectations of all in completing our duties. What a great week that was- from the Get Golf Ready activities and the fabulous youth clinic led by Jon Hoecker, to the Habitat for Humanity project in which so many of your spouses participated and all of the hard work you all completed onsite at Oak Hill, you deserve a moment of self-congratulations. Our officers got to take part in special activities throughout the week, and WNYPGA Tournament Chairman Rob Horak, serving as our section liason for the entire week found himself as a playing marker on the weekend- doubtful there was more applause for anyone in the entire field as there was for Rob and our area when he was introduced on the first tee! Of course, we all got to welcome an extremely popular PGA Champion in Jason Dufner on a beautiful Sunday evening here in Western New York. Our Annual Meeting is just a few short weeks away on October 14 th at the Seneca Niagara Hotel & Casino, and we have put together what we feel is a super day of activities. This year, the meeting will take place in the morning (breakfast served), followed by the first-ever WNYPGA 4 Pro Scramble at the nearby Seneca Hickory Stick GC. In lieu of a formal classroom education session, pairings for this event will be designed by the Tournament Committee with an emphasis on putting our seasoned PGA Professionals, notably our Pro Am host professionals, with those of you newer to the section to share some thoughts on what has made our tournament program so successful for so many years. Immediately following golf, we ll return for the 4 th annual WNYPGA Awards banquet, where we will not only honor our 2013 section award winners, but also enjoy an evening that includes the induction of two legends into our Hall of Fame- Please make an effort to share this day with your fellow WNYPGA Professionals and pay tribute to not only our award winners but to our newest Hall of Fame inductees, Mark Kirk and Denny Ferstler! Candidates may submit a resume, and under New Business will be given 5 minutes to present their candidacy platform to the general membership at the Fall Annual Meeting.

4 NEWS & NOTES. ITS OUR TIME! Beginning in the Fall of 2014, the WNYPGA will have their very own representative on the PGA of America Board of Director, representing District IV. As has been done in previous opportunities, Candidates may be nominated in writing to the Board of Directors prior to the Fall Board Meeting. Candidates may submit a resume, and under New Business will be given 5 minutes to present their candidacy platform to the general membership at the Fall Annual Meeting. A special election of the membership will then take place to select the new District IV Director! AMMENDMENTS TO SECTION CONSTITUTION Amendments to the Section Constitution must be in proper order specifically citing the exact section of the Constitution to be amended and must be submitted in writing to the Section Office by Monday, September 16th, Proposed amendments may be amended by a majority and may be adopted by a two-thirds majority of those voting at the Annual Meeting. AMMENDMENTS TO SECTION BY-LAWS AND REGULATIONS Amendments to the Section By-Laws and Regulations may be made to conduct the affairs of the Section pertaining to the Tournament Regulations, Meeting Rules and general rules of Section Business.
