SOCIAL CLUB NOTICE: FROM THE SOCIAL CLUB: Sharon Penner has announced that the season will be her last as Treasurer for the Social Board. We want to thank her for her many years of service. Time and time again she has been there to help in this vital role. She has done so much to make this Park the success it has been. We need to start right now looking for her successor, this is a job that needs some training and prep work in advance of taking over. We need someone to act as Treasurer in training and then step in to

4 the job with the season. Please consider this as a way to give back to the Park. We need to find someone by the start of next season. If interested, contact Sharon to get an insider look at the job. Thank you. CANASTA Table Winners: Table Winners: Jim Swenson and Jim Klima Arlys Buland and Linda Bacon Wanda Fox, Sherm Korte and Roger Aker Mary Thompson, Fran Skow and Lois Greinke Tami Buschmann and Judy Aker Corporate Board The Board would like to thank Shirley Handschke for bringing the following suggestions, comments and questions to the SRV Corporate Board. We would like to ensure these items with responses are distributed to the community. 1. The hot water should be turned down in the shower since it is scalding hot even with cold water. The Hot Water system for the Community Building has been upgraded with a new circulating pump. The new system (pump) is designed to provide immediate hot water once you turn it on, this is new this season. We will ensure the temperature setting on the Hot Water heater is set near 120 degrees. 2. We need someone to sweep the leaves up in the shower area and around the pool. We did have Joe Harings doing it but he has stopped doing it now. It is extremely encouraging that our community members are assisting around the Hall with some routine maintenance. That commitment is a staple of our community. As a quality assurance step, the Board will ensure that the Maintenance Crew does check the pool area each day to ensure that debris is picked up each morning. 3. We need a clock and thermometer since Joe Harings took his stuff home.

6 Leveraging the Pool Accessory Funds, the clock and thermometer have been updated & replaced with new units. 4. We need times for the volley ball and pool exercises to take place listed in the Villager or on the sign that is needed for hours of operations and when the pool will be closed to the not doing exercises or playing volleyball or during church hours.. I was at the deeper end of the pool talking and looking the other direction when a ball thrown hit me in the back. It really hurt and I got a bruise to prove it. I was well out of where they were playing. We apologize for the incident with the volleyball, our goal is for all residents to have an exceptional experience in the pool area. As we grow with the pool, there may be time slots allocated for specific activities. At this point, the Board is going to let the community utilize the pool. We will take further input and work with the Social Board to determine which activities may be formally organized and require specific times of the day. 5. Joe Harings took his stuff home and stopped sweeping the pool area and shower area because of the No Smoking signs which seem to be aimed directly at him. The pool is an outdoor area where people should be able to smoke. If you allow smoking by the entrance to the office and front of the building you should allow it in the pool area. You would need to provide ashtrays also in the pool area if you were to have a designated table where people could smoke there should be no problem. Did you consider what happens when we have dances and entertainment and people want to smoke the logical place is the pool area as has been done for all the years the park has operated. I understand someone complained about the music and wants the pool area to be quiet. When we do our water aerobics we do have music and speakers to allow us to hear the instructions. Before the board makes such a big changes they really should know how the majority of people feel. I myself am not a smoker but you can see how only making the pool area non-smoking is a problem. The people who smoke in the front of the building put their butts in the flower pots so complaining that smokers put their butts in the drain area is no different. Joe was also removing the butts from the drain area before the NO SMOKING signs were put up. Anyone who was here this past summer knows how hard Joe Haring and Wayne Winter worked to get ready for this new pool. The establishment for designate smoking areas is not designed to penalize any one individual. Designating specific smoking areas is a standard for public buildings and our Community Building is no different. The Board is reviewing and will designate an area on the Community Building grounds for those who do smoke (if good housing keeping practices can t be followed, then this will be reviewed again). The Board had been approached by numerous residents prior to the pool renovation to establish a No Smoking policy in front of the Community Building and the pool and deck area. 6. Volunteers should be announced and what they have done recognized by the Corporate Board because usually what they do saves our Park money. When you handed out the Accomplishments from 10/20 thru 09/20/2017 you listed the things that I know volunteers did. The painting of the doors under the stage and the painting in the all-purpose room were listed as General Maintenance in Main Hall. Under that you should have identified the items done by volunteers and their names. I know Gerry Cram and George Krocker paid for the paint and material that Gerry Cram used to make this room look great. Somewhere we should have acknowledge that Joe Haring donated $5,000 for new pool furniture for the new pool area which looks very nice. I have ask these people if they told you not to mention their names and they all said no that it would have been nice to have received some recognition for their contributions. The Community and the Board greatly appreciate the commitment of residents who do go above and beyond for volunteering their time and money on projects. We leverage the Annual Meeting to highlight those and utilize The Corporate Corner to recognize those individuals. If we have missed anyone specifically, we by no means are averse to recognizing them. Thank you for mentioning George, Gerry and Joe.

7 7. Last year I talked with Mel Brenner about charging a fee for the people who we have listed as Contractors who have been used in the past by people living in the Park. I felt we should charge them each $50.00 for an ad in our phone book. I know the listing of contractors was started as a help to new people but these people listed get a lot of work out of our park and a small fee to be listed in the phone book where it would be readily available when you need them. I never heard back on this suggestion and the reason you did not follow up on it. Years ago I told Linda Beebe that we should charge a transfer fee for the Share Transfers and the board started doing that. I believe you charge $125 for that. This is something that could go to $150. When you get suggestions for how to raise money for our Park they should all be given consideration and again this is something that should be recognized. I also brought the idea of the 50/50 Pot sales. I did this for 10 years and we earned money to buy pool furniture, white tables and white fans in the hall. I did receive the volunteer recognition for my contributions but I mention this only so you know that Thank You and Recognition of all Volunteers goes a long way to keeping people volunteering. The Board has been discussing this and the possibility of putting the advertising on our Web page also. As of now our Share transfer fee is $ we as a Board have not discussed raising this fee, but we will be discussing several options on fees charged by the Village. We as a Board are being more diligent about our responses to residents and will continue to make sure our residents are heard and acknowledged. The Board has as previously stated recognized Volunteers at Monday meetings, Annual meeting, in the Villager and on our Web page. We will continue to do it this way as this reaches the most residents. 8. I forgot one final point that I wanted you to look into. When I received my bill from the SRV it said I was 180 days past due and I was paying it before the due date. I have had several people ask me about this thing on the bill that would not allow it to be just due and not so many days in the arrears. I know this is new for all of us but it was something if the masses have not pointed out to you that I would. This year was the first time we used Quickbooks to send out our bills for SRV, the past due notice was on the bill since our assessments are due October 1 each year. We realize residence are given until the end of January to pay their assessments. We apologize for the confusion this may have caused and have since removed the past due notice from the billing invoices. Leslie Blasing Dance If you missed it, you really missed it she was Great. Thanks to everyone that helped us at the dance. Georgia and Mel Ceramic Luncheon March meet outside of the hall at 12:30 for a ride. Going to the Olive Garden. Ladies Spring Salad Luncheon Friday March 16th 12:00 Please join us for a lunch at the village hall. Bring your own table service and a salad with a serving spoon. Breads and desserts are also very nice. All new residents are invited as guests and just bring your own table service. We will have a show and tell of any special bargains.
