1 Jerre Paxton Keeneland is honored to offer the Complete Dispersal of Jerre Paxton s Northwest Farms LLC yearlings in September, and broodmares and weanlings in November. Mr. Paxton was a leading breeder and owner in Washington State and one of the most successful horsemen from the Northwest. In the 1950s, Mr. Paxton s father founded Kwik Lok Corporation, maker of plastic bag closures for such products as bread and fruit, and set up operation in Yakima, Washington. Jerre Paxton became Kwik Lok s president in 1968 and led the Company s international expansion. Today Kwik Lok has additional manufacturing plants in Indiana; Ontario, Canada; Australia, Ireland and Japan. Jerre Paxton purchased his first Thoroughbreds in the 1970s and established a breeding, racing, and sales powerhouse at what became Northwest Farms LLC in Yakima. A longtime patron of Keeneland sales, he later developed a breeding operation in Central Kentucky. Mr. Paxton raced numerous champions at Longacres and Emerald Downs and was inducted into the Washington Racing Hall of Fame in Kentucky-bred stakes winners in Washington include Shampoo, Elusive Horizon, and most recently, stellar performer Stopshoppingdebbie. He also campaigned Raise a Man, a two-time Grade 2 winner at Santa Anita, and raced two homebreds in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1): Firesweeper and Smarty Deb. Additional Northwest Farms Kentucky-bred stakes winners include Grade 2 winner Arena Elvira and Grade 3 winners Hosco and Super Ninety Nine. Jerre Paxton died January 25, 2015, at age 76.
