ENTRY THROUGH REAR DOOR AFTER HALL IS CLOSED. SHOWERS AND TOILETS ARE LOCATED IN NEW MULTI PURPOSE HALL ON THE OTHER SIDE OF RING TO HORSE AREA. ( Large Coloured Building) Horses Stabling Silver Yards Provided Free of Charge. Unfortunately due to Council Demolishing Stables we have No Stabling to Offer. Limited Panels will be Available. Stallions will have First Preference. Small Yards of Electric Fencing are Allowed. If a Panel Yard is required please contact Michelle on On your arrival camping fee and stabling is to be paid to the appointed equestrian marshal who will issue you a receipt, the marshal will be found at equestrian office which will be located RINGSIDE near bottom northern gate to the ring.

9 REGULATIONS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: 1. Ring Events entries are to be made during the show by the competitor simply purchasing a ticket for each class he/she wishes to compete in. Please note that Camping Fees will be collected when competitors are paying Nomination Fees if not already paid and receipt produced. Tickets will be available from the Ring Office which will be located RINGSIDE near bottom Northern Gate to the Ring. Purchased tickets are not refundable under any circumstances. 2. Entries are accepted entirely at owner s risk. The Ayr P. A. & I. Assoc Inc, it Servants and Agents will not be liable for any losses or damage to exhibits or any property whatsoever and whosoever any such losses or damages be caused. 3. The Ayr Pastoral & Agricultural & Industrial Association Inc reserves the right to make any deletions, inclusions or changes to this program/schedule. 4. Competitors are advised not to approach the Chief Ring Steward asking for alterations to the Program/Schedule to be made as none will be made. 5. When the class is called into the ring, the ticket must be given to the Steward assisting the Judge. 6. Under no circumstances is a competitor or supporter to approach the Judge or the Stewards on a ruling/decision etc. Such should be directed to the Chief Ring Steward only. 7. The age of the horse shall be calculated from August 1 st in any year. 8. Horses must be free from hereditary unsoundness in all classes except jumping events. 9. Horses to be paraded on the day at the times/places as directed by the Stewards. 10. LOCAL shall mean the Burdekin Shire and to be owned by a resident and domiciled in this shire for a period of at least three [3] months. 11. DISTRICT shall mean Mackay and north of Mackay, and to be owned and domiciled in that Shire for a period of at least three [3] months. In District Events, local horses must be ridden by local riders. 12. MAIDEN shall mean that at the time of starting that horse has never won a first prize in a similar competition. 13. NOVICE shall mean that at the time of starting that horse has never won a championship in a similar competition. 14. PONY Not exceeding 14 hands. 15. GALLOWAY Over 14 hands and not exceeding 15 hands 16. HORSE Over 15 hands 17. HALTER CLASSES Registration papers must be produced when requested. 18. STOCK HORSE Registration papers must be produced when requested. 19. The Chief Ring Steward reserves the right to measure any Horse, Pony or Galloway should there be some doubt about the measurement of the animal. The Chief Equestrian Steward s decision is final. 20. Any exhibitor/competitor not in attendance when called by the Ring Master/Steward shall not be judged. Competitors are strongly advised to make careful decisions about which events will be entered as 3 rings are operating, due to the time and logistical constraints of a two day show. No ring shall be required to wait for a competitor who is competing in another ring. 21. All competitors and horses in graded events must be registered members of the Equestrian Federation of Australia or graded with PCAQ. 22. Helmets must be worn by all riders whilst riding on the Ayr Show-grounds to comply with EFA Standard. 23. In jumping classes all riders must wear protective headwear and be suitably attired. The use of a whip by any exhibitor/competitor is strictly prohibited. 24. All ponies are to be ridden by persons under 17 years of age unless otherwise stated. Birth Certificates are to be produced if requested by Stewards. 25. All stallions must be properly supervised at all times whilst on the grounds; bit and chain for led-in classes. There are no stallion stalls on the grounds. All stabling arrangements for stallions are to be made with the Chief Ring Steward or his representative only. 26. Judges shall decline to make awards where entries are of insufficient merit. 27. Nominations are accepted on the day of competition. If there are less than 4 nominations in a class, First prize only will be paid. 28. Any horse entered in a led-in class must have proof of registration of the breed and this must be available for inspection if necessary by the Chief Ring Steward. 29. No Horse stalls are available Limited Panels are available. To book these please contact Michelle on Stallions have first preference. All stable allocations will be made by the Chief Ring Steward or his representative. Silver yards are available at NO CHARGE 30. Camping Fees: 1 night - $20.00, 2 nights - $40.00, 3 nights - $ $22.00 per day outside associated Show Days. On your arrival the Camping Fee is to be paid to the appointed Equestrian Marshall who will issue you with a receipt for monies paid. 31. The Equestrian Marshall will also handle all site allocations, covered and open stall requirements. 32. Rule 32 No Longer Applicable 33. Rule 33 - No longer Applicable. 34. All equestrian floats/trailers must enter the Ayr show-grounds via the Bruce Highway gate only. Access by any other gate will not be permitted. 35. Riders compete at their own risk. Neither the organising committee or persons involved in the running of the competition on Thursday 30 th June, 2016 and Friday 1 st July, 2016 shall be responsible for the loss, damage or injury to any person, animal or property whatsoever whilst on the Ayr Show Grounds. 36. All dogs are to be kept restrained and on a lead at all times. Any dog found running loose will be removed, without notice, by the Council Officer. 37. All participating competitors must prior to the commencement of this program sign the Ayr P. A. & I. Assoc Inc s Indemnity Wavier form.

10 38. Any exhibitor bringing any electrical equipment onto the Ayr Show-grounds is required to ensure that all such equipment is fitted with an earth leakage circuit breaker. All leads, tools and appliances must have been inspected and tagged by a licensed electrical contractor. This is a requirement of the Workplace Health & Safety Act 1995 and in the event of noncompliance severe penalties apply. Exhibitors who do not comply will not be allowed to compete/exhibit at the 2016 Burdekin Equestrian Program held at Ayr Show-grounds. 39. The Association s appointed RISK MANAGEMENT OFFICER is authorised to ensure that the Association s Regulations and Conditions of Entry are adhered to by each party for the duration of their stay at the Ayr Show-grounds NO ELECTRIC FENCING TO BE TIED TO THE BOUNDRY FENCE. ALL Electric Fencing to be kept away from Public Thoroughfare and to be Signed accordingly. If area of fencing is deemed too large by Officials you will have to reduce the size of the area.

17 The Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies Inc. GENERAL HORSE REGULATIONS 1. Entries are accepted subject to the Rules, Regulations and any By-Laws of the Society in addition to the Special Rules which appear below. 2. No person under disqualification recognised by the Society may exhibit or compete. 3. A maiden hack is a horse that has not won a maiden class three (3) times at an Affiliated Show. After such time this horse will be recognised as a Novice. 4. Stallions are not permitted to compete in Hack Classes. 5. Pony Hacks must not exceed 14 hands. 6. Pony Hacks competing in the Pony Hack Ring MUST be ridden by a juvenile rider under 17 years of age. 7. Parents, Guardians, or Strappers are not permitted in the horse arena during judging. 8. One (1) responsible person is allowed per entry for all Lead Line Classes. 9. Marshalling Area to be supplied by all Affiliated Shows. 10. A Galloway Hack shall be over 14 Hands and not exceeding 15 Hands. 11. A Galloway Hack cannot compete in other Hack Classes unless otherwise stated. 12. A Chief Steward or Steward may at any time request a Person who does not appear to be able to ride or handle any horse, to dismount, allow other persons to handle the horse or leave the ring. 13. The age of a competitor is determined as at the first day of the Show where competing. 14. If requested, a competitor must produce documentation as proof of age. 15. The age of all horses to be calculated as at 1 August. Every horse foaled before 1 August in any year shall be deemed to be one (1) year old on that date. 16. Male horses under the age of three (3) years are defined as being Colts and female horses under the age of three (3) years are defined as being Fillies. These horses are not permitted to compete in the respective Stud Class for Stallions or Mares. 17. Horses, Galloways or Ponies entered in any class for which a prescribed height is a condition, must be measured by the Official Measurer who will issue a Certificate of Height. The Certificate of Height must be available on request. 18. The President, Committee person or Chief Steward shall have power to turn out any horse and rider from the ring, in any class, if they deem it is not entered correctly, or give permission for it to enter the correct class.

Any Exhibitor who by themselves or any agent who: (a) (b) (c) directly or indirectly presents a horse which has an identity other than its true identity; does any act or thing which is likely to result in a horse being incorrectly identified; does any act or thing which is likely to result in a horse being incorrectly measured; Is automatically disqualified from exhibiting. 20. When measuring a Horse, Galloway or Pony an allowance of up to 9.5mm (3/8 inch) is to be made for shoes. When an Exhibitor disagrees with the Official Measurer s figure for an animal which has been measured with shoes on, the Exhibitor may, should they so desire, have it measured without shoes. 21. Should a Horse, Galloway or Pony be found by the Official Measurer to be over or under height for the Class in which it is entered, the Chief Steward has the right to transfer to a corresponding Horse, Galloway or Pony Class. 22. All Riders and Attendants must be neatly and appropriately attired whilst in the judging ring. The Chief Steward has the right to exclude anyone from competing whose attire is inappropriate. 23. Judges and Stewards in all horse rings must be suitably attired. 24. Any rider competing in events at an Affiliated Show, must wear protective headgear to the current Australian Standard. The retaining harness must be secured and fastened at all times. Riders without approved headgear shall be ineligible to compete until rectified; if request is ignored instant elimination from all events will occur. 25. Whilst in the main arena of any Affiliated Show s event, Exhibitors and competitors will be under the direction of the Chief Steward and the Stewards in charge of the respective judging rings. 26. The Society accepts no responsibility if judging times conflict with one or more Classes or Events in which an Exhibitor may be entered. Where a conflict may occur, it is the responsibility of the Exhibitor to notify a withdrawal from either event. No ring shall be required to wait for a Competitor or Exhibitor who may be competing in another ring. 27. The excessive use of whips or spurs by any rider in any event or on the grounds will not be countenanced. Any person continuing the practice after being warned may be debarred from competing further in any event. Cruelty to horses is forbidden at any Affiliated Show event. 28. Any Competitor found guilty of committing a definite act of cruelty will be disqualified from taking part in all competitions of the event where the offence was committed. 29. The Chief Steward shall be the sole Judge or what constitutes cruelty and includes without limitation: (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g) (h) to whip or beat a horse excessively; to subject a horse to any kind of electric shock; to use spurs, or to jab the horse in the mouth with the bit, excessively or persistently; to rap a horse; to remount, or attempt to remount, an exhausted, lame or injured horse; to hypersensitive any part of a horse; to leave a horse without adequate feed, drink or exercise; and excessive exercise. 30. All Stallions and Colts must be correctly bitted whilst in hand and the Judge/Ring Steward in Charge shall have the right to disqualify any exhibit, if in that Judge/Ring Stewards opinion, such exhibit is not able to sufficiently be controlled in a safe manner for judging to continue. The exhibit will be ineligible to compete in the Class in which it is entered or paraded and upon such disqualification the exhibit shall forthwith be removed from the judging ring.

19 31. A Stallion with only one descended testicle is a Monorchid, whilst a Stallion with no descended testicles is a Cryptorchid and both are classed as unsound in Stallion Classes. 32. A person must not administer a Prohibited Substance or cause one to be administered to an Exhibit, except as permitted by any By-Laws or Regulations. 33. The Exhibitor, Owner and Attendant of any Exhibit to which a Prohibited Substance has been administered is in breach of the By-Laws unless the Prohibited Substance is permitted by the By-laws or Regulations to be administered. 34. An Exhibit to which a Prohibited Substance has been administered in breach of the By-Laws must be removed from the judging ring upon demand of the Affiliated Show Society. 35. The Affiliated Show Society, in its discretion and at any time, may cause an examination to be made of an Exhibit by a Veterinary Surgeon who, in the course of such examination, may: (a) (b) (c) take such samples (including, without limitation, urine, blood, saliva and faeces) from such Exhibit as he considers necessary or advisable; have such samples tested by such methods and procedures as he considers appropriate; examine the Exhibit for desensitised limbs; 36. Procedures at rule 35 above are at the expense of the exhibitor/owner of the horse in question 37. Any Horse or Exhibit, Exhibitor, Owner or Person in charge of any Animal who appears to have had/have given a Prohibited Substance will definitely be debarred by the Stewards from competing in any event for which it may have been entered at the Affiliated Show, as all are deemed to have acted in breach of this By Law. If a Veterinary surgeon is required all expenses for same are the responsibility of the Exhibitor, Owner or Person in charge. 38. The Affiliated Society and any Steward or Agent of the Society shall not be liable to an Exhibitor for the death of, or for injury, damage or infection which may be sustained by his/her exhibit occasioned by or arising out of any act or omission of any Steward, or Agent of the Society during the course of the testing of the Exhibit, whether due to the negligence of any such Steward, Agent or otherwise. 39. Prohibited Substance means any substance originating externally to an animal (and whether or not endogenous to the animal) capable of affecting the performance of the animal by its action upon: (a) the central or peripheral nervous system; (b) the cardiovascular system; (c) the respiratory system; AND INCLUDES WITHOUT LIMITATION: (d) (e) (f) (g) the alimentary digestive system; the musculo-skeletal system; the urogenital system; or the endocrine system. (a) analgesics; (h) anabolic steroids; (b) anti-histamines; (i) local anaesthetics; (c) anti-inflammatory agents; (j) muscle relaxants; (d) blood anti-coagulants; (k) tranquillisers; (e) diuretics; (l) antibiotics; (f) hormones and their synthetic counterparts; (m) stimulants; and (g) cortico-steroids; (n) glues and bleaches.

20 40. Whilst all reasonable care is taken, the Affiliated Show Society cannot accept any responsibility for any losses and/or damage or injury to or by any livestock exhibits, equipment, vehicles or any other property whilst on the Showground s. 41. Any exhibitor intending to bring electrical equipment onto the showgrounds will be required to ensure that such equipment is fitted with earth leakage circuit breakers and that all electrical leads, tools and appliances have been inspected and tagged by a licensed electrical contractor. This is essential for the safety of all exhibitors and the general public AND is a requirement of the current Electrical Safety Regulations. 42. Energised electric fences are prohibited on the Showground at any time, unless in a specified area and suitably signed. 43. Any persons causing a nuisance by loud comments, or the decision of the Judges or of otherwise unseemly behaviour will after being cautioned, be expelled from the showgrounds, and in the case of exhibitors, be liable for disqualification. 44. It is the responsibility of the Owner or Person-in-Charge of the stock to ensure that the Cattle Tick requirements, where it is necessary, have been fulfilled in regard to the travel treatments. Persons not fulfilling the requirements will be refused entry to the Affiliated Society s Showground. 45. It is the responsibility of the Owner or Person-in-Charge of the stock to contact their nearest Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries Stock Inspector and arrange for Permits for stock. 46. It is considered good ethics that if a Junior Judge or Associate Judge has been judging in his/her own right at any Show, they are not eligible to enter the Young Judges competition at that Show, BUT they can still enter at another Show where they are not acting in a judging roll. 47. Any Affiliated Show running under QCAS Rules and Regulations has the right to refuse other horse associations swabbing any horse on their grounds. (Except for EFA registered events). 48. Dogs, other than those owned by members of the Canine Control Council, must be kept in a closed float, a vehicle, or on a short leash and must be suitably muzzled as to prevent it from being able to injure or bite any person or other animal, whilst on the Affiliated Society s Showground.
