Classes will be judged as near as possible to the order in which they appear in this Schedule. Notice to Exhibitors The Taralga AP & H Association is affiliated with the NSW Council of Agricultural Societies Group 7 Southern Highlands, acting under instructions from Group 7 Affiliated Societies are pledged to collect entry fees with all entries. Societies are under heavy penalty for any infringement of this instruction. On no account will any refund or rebate be given. No games of chance will be allowed on the ground.

4 Page 4 All exhibitors MUST WEAR an Australian Standard Approved helmet when mounted on the Taralga Showground. This includes Hack & Australian Stock Horses Rings and Team Yarding & Sorting. Exhibitors are advised that competitors in ring classes will be called to the class by the Announcer. Exhibitors in each class will be given a warning call, followed by an interval of a few minutes, than a final call will be made for the class. Unless otherwise specified, Stallions may only compete in Stallion classes. Classification of Sizes: Pony Galloways Hacks not exceeding 14hh over 14hh & not exceeding 15hh over 15hh Local: The word LOCAL in any section of this Schedule shall be taken to mean Residents of the OLD TARALGA POLICE DISTRICT and/or past or present members of the TARALGA PONY CLUB that have attended at LEAST one Taralga Pony Club Camp. Novice: A horse that has not won a FIRST ribbon at an Agricultural Show. Awards: Ribbons are awarded to 3 rd place in all rings, unless specified Champion, Reserve Champion & Supreme/Grand Champion Sashes, Trophies & Rugs awarded where indicated in this Schedule CWA Perpetual Trophy: An award to a financial member (under 17yrs) of the TARALGA PONY CLUB for the highest point score over the two days. Competitors are to nominate one horse. Points awarded will be 1 st 3pts, 2 nd 2pts, 3 rd 1pt Prize Money: Classes marked with an * will have prize money issued of 1 st - $5, 2 nd - $3, 3 rd - $2 Other prizes and money as indicated in this Schedule. NO prize money awarded for Pony Club events. Notice to Prize Winners The Steward in the ring will issue a ticket to each prize winner, who will then be paid his/her prize money by the Payout Stewart in the Entry Shed. The ticket is to be signed by the competitor and will be a receipt for the said prize. The collection of prize money is the responsibility of the prize winner. All prize money must be collected on the day. Admission Fees: Adults: $10.00 Children 8-16yrs: $2.00 Children und 8yrs: Free Camping Fees: Powered Site $15.00 per night Non-Powered Site $10.00 per night Entry Fees: Stables/Stalls: Bull Stalls: $2.00 per class for all rings, unless otherwise stated in this Schedule. Stables are available but CANNOT be reserved prior to the Show. MUST be cleaned & vacated by 7.30am Sunday morning of the Show.

5 Page 5 SHOW JUMPING RULES Height Classes: Junior Six Bar: Open Six Bar: Riders may compete in two consecutive classes only e.g. Class 217 & 218 OR Class 218 & 219 Riders under 17yrs Riders under 17yrs are eligible to compete Winner takes All: Sponsor money applies to Class 221 & 222 Entry Fee: As stated in this schedule and is for per Horse & Rider Combination SPORTING REGULATIONS Rules of racing as agreed to by the Southern Highlands Show Societies Union All events will be run in accordance with the rules published in this Schedule All final event places will be awarded on a first past the post and so on basis The Sporting Chief Steward s decision is final NO protests Riders riding multiple horses: Junior Events: If a rider qualifies two horses for the final only one horse can be ridden in the final and the next fastest qualifier will take the spot of the horse not running. Open Events: If a rider qualifies two or more horses for the semi-finals or the final, the rider can nominate another rider to ride their horse(s), and if the horse makes the final the rider can choose to ride that horse in the final. A horse cannot have multiple riders other than described above. FLAG RACE: There will be a cask and five pegs with detachable flags on each. Distance between pegs to be 18ft and from the cask to the first peg 27ft. Spacing between lines of pegs to be 36ft and there be no limit to the lines of pegs used. The cask to be a peg with a drum attached at the top to collect the flags. Height of pegs when driven into the ground to be 5ft. Each competitor must take the farthest peg first. If a competitor knocks down cask he is to re-erect it before continuing. Should the competitor fail to lodge any flags in the cask he must dismount and pick up the flag, remount replace the flag in the cask and finish. Each competitor must keep to his own line of pegs. A line of demarcation will be drawn or shown 18ft on each side of each line of pegs and each competitor must keep within these lines. Crossing these lines will mean disqualification. Should a competitor while crossing these lines interfere in any degree with another line of pegs, another competitor or their horse, the heat semi-final in which the infringement occurs will be stopped as speedily as possible and rerun, but the competitor causing the infringement will be automatically disqualified. Should any owner have more than one horse in the final, he is to provide another rider. The rider of the first horse past the winning post will be declared the winner, only when he is mounted on his horse, has the five flags in the cask and has completed the course in accordance with these rules. If, in the event of all competitors in the final being disqualified for infringements of these rules, the final must be rerun to determine a winner and placegetters.

6 Page 6 BENDING RACE: There will be five pegs. The distance between the start line and the first peg will be 27ft and between pegs 18ft. Spacing between the lines of pegs to be 36ft and there will be no limit to the lines of pegs used. Each competitor must leave the first peg on his or her right. Each competitor must keep to his or her own line of pegs. Crossing through other lines will mean disqualification. Knocking any peg down will mean disqualification. Only winners of heats eligible to compete in the semi-finals. Should any owner have more than one horse in the final, they are to provide another rider. Should any owner have more than one horse in the final, they are to provide another rider. The rider of the first horse past the winning post will be declared the winner, only when mounted on the horse, all pegs in their line are standing, and they have completed the course in accordance with these rules. If, in the event of all competitors in the final knocking down their pegs, the final must be re-run to determine the winner. BARREL RACE: Barrel distances are as shown on the sketch. The outside edge of the barrel will touch the measured spot in order that the horse will be required to travel only the measured distance. Barrels are to be 44 gallon size drums. Riders may go to either right or left barrel first, but must make one left hand turn and two right turns, or one right turn and two left turns. The starting and finishing line and the position of the barrels must be marked permanently for the entire fixture. A 5 second penalty will be added for: o Each barrel knocked over o Each barrel touched with hand A flying start is allowed Riders are in the hands of the judges once they say they are ready, but judges will not start riders until they advise they are ready. Watches used to be in at least tenths of a second. Horses are to be timed on the nose crossing the starting and finishing line. In determining the first 3 placings, if any horses register equal times, the horses concerned will be rerun to determine their placings. Disqualification will occur from; o Not following the prescribed barrel racing patterns o Any horse which in the opinion of the Steward(s) is deemed to be unfit for the event, to be disqualified at the discretion of the Chief Steward(s) o Excessive hitting of the horse with spurs, whips or any object whatsoever. o The carrying of whip in the mouth m 27.42m 13.71m Cruelty to Animals: No exhibitor shall engage in or be knowingly involved in cruelty to any animal. The Taralga AP & H Association will be the sole judge of what constitutes cruelty. Any case of cruelty must be reported immediately to the Ringmaster.
