1 The Aguadilla Field Target and Archery Club hosted its AAFTA Grand Prix the weekend of February 22 to 24, The event was held at their facilities in Aguadilla, PR managed by Pedro Abreu. We had a total of 29 registered participants, from the (9) Continental USA, (19) Puerto Rico and (1) from Panama. Many of the traveling participants came with their families and arrived several days earlier to enjoy some of the Island hospitality with the assistant from a number of hosts from the western side of the Island. Several went on Iguanas hunts, as well as other sporting or sightseeing activities, since the western side of the Island have plenty of places to visit and enjoy. The weather for that week was mostly sunny so there was plenty of beaches and other activities for our visitors to enjoy. We also had a first time ever Field Target Hunter, Piston Class participant in Colins Window that came from the Western USA.

2 The event commenced with the WFTF and Pistol Field Target events on Friday afternoon on the red course using a layout of 15 lanes with 2 targets per lane and two shots per target for a total of 60 shots. The pistol matches was on a gorgeous sunny afternoon but the wind posed a major challenge for all specially for the 12 FPE category adding some additional fun time to the event. Pedro Rodríguez Hunter Pistol th. Carlos González Hunter Pistol th. Saturday event has held on the black course with 15 lanes and 2 targets per lanes. All lanes had their target clearly named and marked. The morning started very cloudy and even a light drizzle fell just as the match was starting but weather cleared and wind sort of died down but midway thru the match the wind picked up and added extra challenge to several lanes. This course had targets perched on stands or covered to simulate a small cave or borough on some lanes but all could be easily seen or spotted. Also the sequence on some lanes commenced with the furthest target first then the closest, again making the course quite interesting. After the match ended all participants where quite pleased and truly enjoyed the match. Pedro, his wife and his team treated us to a succulent pig, roasted on site with local firewood, yellow rice with pigeon peas, potato salad and marinated boiled green plantain. It was a very delicious and succulent puertorrican dinner feast. There was plenty of refreshments including some Puerto Rican Shine that many northern guest enjoyed.

3 Saturday night many of the participants gathered on the Rompeolas (Breakwater) by the coast and had a wonderful evening amongst field target friends. Sunday event has held on the yellow course, again 15 lanes and 2 targets per lanes. The morning once more started very cloudy and even a light drizzle fell just as the match was starting but weather cleared and wind sort of died down but once more midway thru the match the wind picked up and on the lanes where the figures were mounted on young trees they rocked sideways a bit due to the wind. There were also lanes where wind sort of crisscrossed with sudden gust and changes of direction. This made really made those lanes extremely satisfactory when you fun knocked the target down. This course had targets perched on stands or tree branches but all could be easily seen or spotted. Again many lanes had the sequence of the targets commencing with the furthest one first, so you had to be alert. Lunch was beef skirt strips with rice and beans but cooked together and with some moisture left, locally its called Arroz Manposteao and Yucca or Cassava cooked in Garlic. Again a delicious feast.
