Summer fun is just heating up this August in Snohomish County. There are tons of fun things happening across nearly every community in the county! Japan Summer Festival 8/5/17 8/6/17 Saturday & Sunday 1pm-8pm Bothell Everett Hwy, Bothell, WA On Saturday and Sunday, August 5th & 6th The Japanese language school, Little Pine Gakuen is hosting the first annual Japan Summer Festival! The festival will run from 1pm-8pm. Games, crafts, food, Taiko performances, Mimibunko (Japanese puppet show), martial arts demonstration, much more Shakespeare in the Park Comedy of Errors 8/6/17 Sunday 7pm-9pm 1812 Main Street, Lake Stevens, WA The Comedy of Errors is a wildly silly slapstick farce involving not one but two sets of identical twins. It is one of Shakespeare's most popular comedies. Last Leaf performances are abridged versions of Shakespeare's text and are approximately 1 hour in length. Today, her vision has become a Global movement with over 4.7 million athletes competing in 169 countries. Through programming in sports, health, education and community building, Special Olympics is changing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics is able to remove barriers and stigmas that people with intellectual disabilities face, and to share with the community the gifts and talents they possess. Seasoned professionals and community leaders will also be available to provide information and guidance on health and well-being, financial literacy, economic development, educational opportunities, and other topics that impact positive day-to-day living. Ferry boats begin running that morning at 8:30am, but the beach does not open for the Float Find till 10:30am. NOTE! Glass floats are only hidden on the jetty beach. Volunteers do not want to damage any of the natural trails and grasses on the island, so floats are only hidden in the beach/tidal zone. Evergreen Half Marathon & 10K 8/20/17 Sunday 6:30am (registration) 8am-12:30pm Lake Tye Park Fryelands Blvd SE, Monroe, WA Evergreen Half Marathon and 10K, formerly The Summer Beats Half Marathon & 10K, is one of the half marathons Snohomish Running Company manages in conjunction with the NW Running Series. This new half marathon is a fun, fast flat run course around Lake Tye with the Cascade Mountains and Snohomish Valley farmlands in the background. The run course takes participants along the Old Snohomish Monroe Road. All participants will receive a race shirt, finishers medal, personalized race bib, and chip timing. The scholarships help kids come to camp who otherwise would not be able to attend. Camp is a place where kids can leave behind the cares, distractions, and problems of everyday life. It s an opportunity for them to experience a breather - to catch a vision for the bigger picture of their lives, a place where the love of God becomes more real. European Theater Day 8/26/17 Saturday 10am-3pm Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum th Street SW, Everett, WA The European Theater of World War II was a huge area of heavy fighting across Europe, from Germany and the Soviet Union's joint invasion of Poland in 1939, until the end of the war. Main Street, Monroe, WA Monroe s favorite summer time tradition will once again kick off the Fair as the 80th Annual Fair Day s Parade returns to march down the streets of Monroe on Saturday, August 26th at 11 am. All those wanting to make a weekend of the event, there are plenty of great places to stay at and take in all the great events and activities the Fair and our great city have to offer. Dog Days of Skookum 8/26/17 Saturday 12pm-5pm Skookum Brewery th Ave NE, Arlington, WA Cold Beer, Good Company and a Lil' Fundraising!! Save-A-Mutt is excited to be attending the Dog Days of Skookum. Join rescue groups and pet based vendors for a fun afternoon. Of course Save-A-Mutt will have new Swag, Raffle Baskets, and Buck-A-Duck. Well behaved dogs welcome. Must be 21 to Attend. Food truck on hand for some delicious snacks. NEW this year - Scrub-A-Mutt! Grab your dirty dog and get them washed at the event. 15 Bubble Run 8/26/17 Saturday 8am-12pm Downtown Everett 2416 Colby Ave, Everett, WA If you ve done a traditional 5K, you know they can be a bit lackluster. But the BUBBLE RUN is like running through Willy Wonkas factory. Clad in white t-shirts, adults, kids and strollers run, walk, dance and play across 3 miles of absolute fun! Waves start every 3-5 minutes. Then, at each kilometer, participants will run through the Foam Bogs where there is enough colored foam to cover you from head to toe! Bubble-teers and charity partners will also be there to help make sure you get your share of the frothy goodness. Each of the four Foam Bogs are represented by different colored foam. So what if you should accidentally taste the whimsey? They don t taste as great as they are fun, but not to worry. The foam is 100% safe.
