1 Awarded Best CLC Regional Newsletter rd NTXCLC Regional Meet November 2017 Story and Photos by Lifer The 33rd Regional was held at the Classic Gas Motor, Sherry and Cris Lofgren owners, Arlington TX, Sunday October 8,and it was an Outstanding Regional for North Texas Region Cadillac & LaSalle Club. Seventeen splendid cars were on display for all 35 members and guests to feast their eyes and desires on. I was thrilled and very excited to see a 1959 black convertible follow me in the gate under the leadership of a never-before-at-a-meet new member Terry McKenzie, all the way from Longview, TX. Then not quite through drooling, a gorgeous dark maroon 1941 Cad Convertible drove in, having just restored and never shown before at our meets, by Gary Pennington of Weatherford. Following these beauties came the little maroon LaSalle Opera Coupe driven by Jeff Podmers, and then John McDaniel s 1966 Deville Convertible black beauty. The general meeting held during the lunch held nominations for officers,however only one nomination was brought to group. John Foust was nominated for President. The rest of the offices will have to be filled in your choice on your ballot in the next newsletter and sent to Cecil and Jo Thompson. We Thank Bill Kaufman for designing the Dash Plaques or plates and Best of Show award. John Foust designed and donated his awards with wood base and Goddess for first place, Peoples choice and Best of Choice. Thanks so much for all your artistic handy work Bill K Kaufman and John Foust. We had several guests. Barry McKeown, a neighbor of Rubye s and a professor at UTA where Karen Phillips knew him. Larry Kolodziejski, new member at Peach Drive, brought his son -in law, Ben Ford and grandson. The very delicious BBQ catered by Kim Labriardo was enjoyed very much by all members. Meeting adjourned and all traveled home safely. It was delightful and fun filled afternoon browsing among our NTX spectacular some never seen cars and lots of different cars stored in several Quonset buildings of the of the owners,the Lofgrens. Doug Ashby s 2006 XLR convertible placed 1 st. Steve Overby s 2007 DTS 2007 placed 3 rd. David Clemans, 2007 blue XLR placed 2 nd. Virginia Andrews new SRX 2016 tied for 3 rd place first time showing a car. 5 More Winners 33rd NTXCLC Regional Meet November 2017 Terry McKenzie s 1959 Coupe was awarded the Peoples Choice award NTXCLC President Rubye Musser s 2015 XLR on display. Jeff Podmers 1939 LaSalle Opera Coupe won Best of Show. Jeff also won the Special Judge Award presented by the Lofgrens John Terlingo Sr. also brought in this gorgeous Escalade Larry Freeman s1994 Eldorado won a 2 nd (did not actually bring car). Larry Kolodziejski, new member at Peach Drive, brought his son-in law, Ben Ford and grandson. Page 5

November 11th Cadillac Caravan to Hot Rod Restorations by JSK in Cumby, Texas. 9:30-10:00 a.m. We will gather in the Kroger/Carls' Jr. parking lot at I-30 & Beltline. That's exit 59 off I-30, SW corner of the intersection. We will take the back roads for some scenic adventure. December 9 th Toys for Tots FRANK KENT CADILLAC FT WORTH, TX. Open your big Cadillac trunks filled with toys for girls and boys. Jan 7, 2018 Christmas Party at Rolling Hills Country Club, Arlington, TX. Note that party is our best and top gathering, and is paid for by the work we performed at the Pate Swap Meet in April. Feb 10, 2018 Tour of Cowboy s Complex. Details TBA. Embassy Suites by Hilton There will be a driving tour through the Hill Country including Luckenbach and the LBJ Ranch departing Tuesday morning. Rooms are still available at our host hotel The Embassy Suites for Wednesday June 6 through Sunday June 10. If you are arriving before Wednesday, you can use the backup hotel, Courtyard by Marriot. 9 For those that need to renew their regional membership this year, I (Doug Ashby) will be sending out renewal notices thru the mail to each and every person who needs to renew before the end of this year. If possible I would appreciate it if you could return your dues before December 15th. You should be receiving the notice within the first two weeks of November. If every member of the North Texas Region Cadillac & LaSalle club recruited just one new member each, we would be the biggest club in the swap meet. Remember, the member count, besides meaning a more fun and interesting club, gets the club a bigger share of the Pate income. If a member obtains 5 or more new members to the NTXCLC they will receive a free Club Shirt at the annual Christmas dinner.
