However, this year we will have our annual Christmas party on Dec. 2nd and the monthly Brunch will be on the 30th. So there will still be opportunities to socialize before the New Year. Election of CCT offi cers and Board will be held at the January meeting. I have had zero comment on my editorial in the last edition so I don t expect a rush of volunteers at the last minute. It would be nice to have a reason for holding a meaningful election instead of a rubber stamp... Maybe next year. Thank you all for your kind words on the passing of my mother on the 27th. 5 Day Activity Discuss at January 2018 meeting to determine interest and set a date for those who are interested in seeing this as a group. No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum 119 Silent Wings Blvd, Terrell, TX Terrell Municipal Airport. Open: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday. 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Tel: Free / Takes about an hour to see. They have guides to explain things and tell stories. A very unique and little known piece of World War II history even before the United States offi cial entry into the war. Thousands of British pilots learned to fl y at six civilian training schools in the United States. The fi rst and largest of the schools was in Terrell, Texas. After the United States entered the war, American Aviation Cadets also trained at the school. More than 2,000 Royal Air Force and American Army Air Force pilots earned their wings over North Texas between 1941 and Terrell s citizens welcomed the student pilots to their community and many life-long bonds were forged. The museum celebrates this little known chapter of World War II history. The collection includes hundreds of historical items: log books, training materials, WW II memorabilia and uniforms. The museum s archives contain the most extensive record of the No. 1 British Flying Training School that exists. Located at the Terrell Municipal Airport. New 755 HP Corvette ZR1 fi nally announced at an auto show in Dubai. No offi cial pricing info yet from GM. But it is expected to start around $120,000. The controversial ironing board wing, shown here, is an option. 5

November 2017 Meeting By Charles Whitaker I arrived early for the November Corvette of Texas meeting so I wandered around and found some interesting things. Of course, I had to include a photo of my 2017 Silver C7 Corvette convertible beside Jeff Rosen s silver Corvette. There was a nice yellow 2017 Z06 Corvette near by that is for sale by Friendly Chevrolet that would make someone a nice ride. Charles & Jeff s Silver Corvettes 2017 Yellow Z06 Corvette for Sale by Friendly Chevrolet A beautifully decorated Christmas Tree was inside the show room 8

There was another beautiful sight sitting near the Christmas Tree; a 2018 C7 Corvette Z06 with a sticker price of $104,805. The board meeting was being held 9

The regular meeting of the Corvette Club of Texas was held on November 17th 2017 at Friendly Chevrolet. 14 members and 2 visitors attended. Our guests were Jack and Coila Edson from Southlake. Their Corvettes are a 1975 White Convertible with a 4-speed transmission and an Atomic Red 1980 Corvette that they want to restore. We talked to them while waiting for the board members to arrive and we heard some interesting stories. They also have 4 other cars that fi ll their 6-car garage. Jack & Coila Meeting Attendees 10

Bob Kee, our President, conducted the business. Many of our members were at the autocross site in Mineral Wells, Texas for the Saturday and Sunday races so the meeting was short. Bob Kee, President The next brunch will be on Saturday December 30 th at Café Amore in Richardson, Texas. The Christmas lists for the Gill Family Children have been circulated, but the date has not been announced. Joann Powdrill conducted the raffl e and we had 3 prizes. The winners are shown below including me. The Three Prizes Sharon Norris 11

Carol Factor Charles Whitaker Amos The Guide Dog Thanks to Friendly Chevrolet and Mark Eddins for supporting the club, providing a place for us to meet and selling us such great Corvettes. Thanks to Bob Kee our president, Mike Garrison our vice-president and to Joe Wagner f or another great newsletter last month and to Paulette for sponsoring the monthly brunches. Thanks to Paul Wolter for being our NCCC Governor and telling us about the upcoming events and to Mary Wolter for doing so many things including being our Membership Person and to Debbie Garrison for organizing exciting events for us. Lastly, but most important, thanks to the Corvette club members that join in our activities. It takes a lot of work from a lot of people to run the club. All of these efforts are what make our club such a nice organization. 12

Brunch, Car Show, Veterans & Taps n Tunes By Charles Whitaker The Corvette Club of Texas had a full day of activities on Saturday, November 11th, 2017 starting in Hurst, Texas with a brunch at Panera Bread, then a Car Show sponsored by CCT across the street from the Hurst Conference Center, a Veterans reception in the Conference Center Gallery and then a USO Variety show presented by the Taps n Tunes Production. I spotted two Corvettes at Panera Bread before I went inside for the brunch where I met Paulette & Joe Wagner, Mike Garrison and Paul Wolter. Kathy and Chuck Kraut who were former members of CCT were there also by chance meeting. (Debbie Garrison was at the Plano Conference Center selling her new books, so she couldn t join us.) 19 Governor s Report. (Prepared by Paul Wolter) Our annual joint autocross (AX) at the Mineral Wells (MW) airport with Cowtown Vettes (CTV) was conducted on Saturday and Sunday November 18th & 19th. After working the Leake classic car auction Thursday and Friday I took the CCT trailer to the Mineral Wells airport and coordinated setting up the autocross road course layout. I had fi ve CTV members helping me position cones along the mile course that consisted of two slaloms multiple gates, two large sweeps and one crossover. Cowtown hosted Saturday s seven autocrosses for 33 competitors. CCT hosted seven autocrosses for 29 competitors. We had a couple from northwestern Iowa who traveled 12 hours to participate in both Saturday s and Sunday s events. They told us that it was 31 degrees when they left Iowa Friday morning. Saturday s temperature at the MW airport was a high of 62 degrees, with a North wind blowing from 30 to 43 mph made it feel like it was a chilly mid-40s. Sunday morning s temperature was 31 degrees and at 6 AM I had to scrape frost off my windshield at the hotel before driving to the MW airport to get ready to host Sunday s seven autocrosses. The food truck that was scheduled to be at the autocross to sell lunches for both Saturday and Sunday notifi ed us late Wednesday that they had a better gig elsewhere. So, I contacted Mesquite BBQ in Mineral Wells to prepare 66 lunches for Saturday and 55 lunches for Sunday. Free lunches were provided for all workers both days. As in past years, I picked up and brought the lunches to the airport and helped serve. I conducted the corner worker and then the driver s meeting Sunday morning. I drove Doug and Glenda s new C7 ZO6 on the parade lap leading two new competitors around the course. Since both Doug and Glenda were competing the NCCC rules prohibit them from driving on the course, except for during the timed AX competitions. I rode with Doug on two of his autocross runs, and at the extreme speed and Gs being pulled it felt like he was driving right on the edge of being out of control! He and Glenda competed in 14 autocrosses each with 2 runs on each AX and they wore out a set of tires that weekend. We fi nished the event Sunday afternoon at 3PM after loading all the cones back into the CCT trailer. Thanks to the CCT members who came out and helped work Sunday s autocrosses. Since we were short quite a few CCT workers I enlisted a dozen CTV members to help work our event. As SWR treasurer and CCT governor I participated in Saturday evening s governor s meeting on November 18th in Mineral Wells. In addition to preparing and presenting the treasurer s report I also prepared and discussed the SWR 2018 budget. The meeting started at 7 PM and lasted nearly 3 ½ hours! The Texas Outlaws Corvette Club is going to host a one day road trip in March for NCCC members that departs Fort Worth. I will discuss it at our January 2018 CCT membership meeting NCCC Southwest Region event dates and fl iers that are being hosted in December and next year are provided at: NCCC Convention. Our NCCC Southwest Region is hosting a 2017 Convention Warm-Up autocross event Saturday and Sunday December 2nd and 3rd at the New Orleans road course. We have 35 competitors registered for this event with participants from numerous states. We are currently at the expenses/revenue breakeven point for hosting the event. There are several volunteers that have been identifi ed as convention chairs to work and host the various tasks during the convention. I signed up to be one of the concours judge for the car show. 19

6th Annual Salute to Our Veterans. Thanks to the CCT members who displayed their Corvettes for the 6th Annual Salute to Our Veterans that was hosted by Taps n Tunes on Saturday, November 11th at the City of Hurst Conference Center. The USO Family Friendly matinee show was conducted at 2:30 pm. Security was provided for the Corvettes while we are watching the show in Reserved Seating for CCT members that displayed their Corvettes. Both Annette Marsh and Patti Bertwell performed numerous routines, and Annette had the large task of being the MC for the production. The USO show was very entertaining and all attendees enjoyed the production. Since Charles took pictures I suspect that you will see an article with pictures in this newsletter. (Thanks, Charles!). The lady who owned this P ink Vette stopped to look at our Vettes for Vets Display in Hurst. This is a pink wrap that was placed over a stock GM color. The cost to print and apply this wrap was $3,000. The car can be returned to its factory color by removing the wrap. 20
