8 ACTIVITIES REPORT-Things to Do Activities are what we are all about. Our activities Chair, Ben Loflin and anybody he can corral, look for exciting ways to spend quality Corvette time together. Here s what Ben has been working on for us for this Fall. ACTIVITIES REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 2004 Activities for November & December 2004 represent the coming to a close for this year. We sincerely hope everyone got some enjoyment and pleasure by their attendance. Our recently completed trip to Wemberley, TX will be commented on by Charles Whitaker. Our new members, Barry & Annette Marsh, made their first trip in their new & beautiful 2004, C-5 torch red coupe. By the end of our trip their car was having difficulty shifting from 3 rd. gear, but all turned out well as Barry just reported the dealer found the trouble and commented, that is a first for A C-5 and all work would be under warranty. This coming week end in Waco, Tx, Paul & Mary Wolter will be showing their beautiful Pace Car in the Corvette Restores meet. There is A flyer out to each member today who may want to go down and cheer them on to another victory. Let me know if you are going, maybe we could meet some place and caravan together. I think the weather is suppose to get better with some sunshine. There is a new restaurant opening in Denton and A flyer is coming your way soon to arrange a drive and eat excursion. No over night plans as of this date for November. Remember our club Christmas party first Sat in December and the exciting trip to see the Christmas lights in December In Natchitoches, Louisiana. Those that have not made reservations for the 2 nights, need to do so quickly. Joe & Gail planned this one and it will be fun. Don t hesitate to contact them for more specifics. 11 If you missed it! CCT Wimberley Trip By Charles Whitaker Ben and Billie Loflin led a trip to Wimberley, Texas October 29 th, 30 th, and 31 st with objectives for driving Corvettes, sightseeing, eating at good restaurants, and having an enjoyable time. Dennis & Patti Bertwell, Mitch & Carol Factor, Barry & Annette Marsh, James & JoAnn Powdrill, and Charles & Gene Whitaker met Ben and Billie at 820 & 377 in Ft. Worth and drove to Granbury where Bob & Paula Mischel waited to show us the best place to eat hamburgers named Grump s. After lunch we drove down highway 51 to 67 and then south on 281 stopping for pie and ice cream at the Deutsch Haus and later for a snack of beef jerky before getting to Blanco, Texas where we made our way east to Wimberley. We found the Mountain View Lodge 3 miles south of Wimberley situated on a ridge where we had a beautiful view of the valley and we checked in to our rooms and lounged or napped until dinner time. That night we ate at Juan Henry s Mexican restaurant in Wimberley and I believe that we all had an excellent dinner. Deutsch Haus Pie & Coffee Shop Mountain View Lodge View of Valley The next morning we met for breakfast at several places in small groups and then shopped in the quaint shops in Wimberley sticking together in groups for an hour or so until couples took various routes to see what interested them the most with an agreement to meet at the Gristmill River Restaurant for lunch in Gruene. Gene and I visited the Wimberley Glass Works where we watched the owner, Tim de Jong, make a beautiful multicolor vase with integral swirling colors of different glass. He wanted to trade me some glass for my 1978 Corvette, but I wouldn t agree. Gene and I then drove the Devil s Backbone which is a highway along the crest of a ridge where you can see the deep valley on both sides of the road. Kiss Cook Shop in Wimberley Tim Making a Vase at the Wimberley Glass Works We all meet at noon in Historic Gruene, Texas which prides it s self for Gently resisting change since 1872 and had lunch at the Gristmill River Restaurant. I had a Wurstburger for lunch and I forgot my camera so I didn t get any pictures of Gruene, but we had
12 a great time together. After lunch we went our separate ways with Gene and me shopping at the Gruene Antique Company and the Gruene General Store before we slipped away to New Braunfels to see the Wurstfest which is their local version of October fest. What is named the large tent at the Wurstfest is really a very large old metal building and it was at least 105 degrees inside so we wandered around for an hour and saw what we wanted to see and left for a cooler place. Large Tent at Wurstfest in New Braunfels Dinner at the Salt Lick Restaurant Again we all meet back at the Mountain View Lodge and Mitch led us on for a drive to the Salt Lick restaurant over some very curvy Corvette type roads. The dinner was barbecue served family style and it was excellent. The drive home that night was a little disconcerting with the curvy roads, but we all make it back safely where Ben and Billy treated us to a toast of Merlot wine. We told stories and then ended our trip together with happy remembrances of a good time Roundup Auto Cross Many participated in making the Roundup (October 8-10) at the Grayson County Airport a financial success. I ve often heard that a picture is worth a thousand words. To that, I submit that this one picture captures the element(s), challenges and comfort factors exceptionally well. See the newsletter addendum for additional photos!

20 Ed Page It is my intent to publish the Newsletter every month. I will try to have a Web version ready for publication by the end of the first week of each month. In order to meet my own expectations, here s what I need from you. Each chairperson (Activities, Charity, any officer or other wanting to have something published) should have newsletter articles ready by the fifth workday of each new month. Anybody can submit articles for publication. I will not edit for grammar, word choice, punctuation or other stuff I know nothing about. I might simply decide something warrants additional commentary, or needs to be shortened (I can t imagine lengthened). Otherwise it will be included in the publication as received. Articles should be in Microsoft Word format. If you have photos, they should be digital and in JPG format. All articles, files, photos, etc, should be sent to the editor via as an attachment. Call me if you have questions. Due to costs of printing and mailing, complete printed versions of the Newsletter have not been distributed. Some people will have not received prior issues. We are exploring less costly alternatives.
