New club officers, a new newsletter editor (who is begging for material to be included in future newsletters, and getting ready for the upcoming Texas Healey Roundup. 4 MEMBERSHIP DUES Have you paid you dues? Dues remain $60 ($50 national, $10 local). Dues should have been paid by January 15 for your information to appear in the 2016 AHCA Directory, but you are still encouraged to send them in so you continue to receive benefits associated with being a club member. The quickest way to renew and update any information is through the national web page at Make sure you have South Texas (Austin/San Antonio) as your club. Editors Rumblins by Charlie O'Connors What the hell did I do? Did I really volunteer to take on the duties of newsletter editor for STAHC? Ressie tells me I did, so I will do my best to provide a newsletter worthy of the high standards Jim Richmond has set. But I can only accomplish this with your help. Please send me articles, stories, information and photos to include in our newsletter. They can be technical, historical, informative and humorous. In addition to handling editor duties, I manage the club's web site and the Facebook page. In addition to having information for the newsletter, I could also use help with information for the web site. As for the Facebook page, I encourage everyone to join and contribute to what is shared here. In addition to members of STAHC there are numerous other Healey owners and enthusiasts who have joined our page. 5 2016 DAYTONA 500 PARTY & BARBEQUE The traditional party to celebrate the beginning of the 2015 NASCAR racing season and eat barbeque and other sides will be at the Richmond home in Tapatio Springs near Boerne. Television coverage begins at 12 Noon on February 21. We will again have a $1 per driver drawing with the pot to be divided by those that draw the winners (win, place and show). Plan to arrive before Noon so we can complete the drawing before the race starts and hold a short business meeting. A light lunch will be served around noon and, after the race, we will have barbecued brisket with home cooked beans supplied by Richmond's plus food that other members bring. Please bring snacks, side dishes or deserts. Jim and Karen will supply beer and soft drinks during the race. From San Antonio take Interstate 10 to Boerne Exit 539 and exit onto Johns Road west bound (left off the exit ramp). Continue west on Johns Road. Follow the signs to Tapatio Springs for about 4 miles where you will turn right onto Wild Turkey Blvd. Continue on Wild Turkey Blvd. for about 1.2 miles until you see our house on the left. It is the last house before White Tail Drive and it is across from the community mailbox. Weather permitting we will fly the British flag. If you are coming from Austin you can take SR 46 to Boerne from I-35 in New Braunfels or from US 281. Continue on SR 46 through Boerne to I-10. 6 EL MERCADO El Mercado is our advertising section. If you have Healeys, Healey parts, Healey stuff or even other British stuff that your spouse says has to go, send it in and we'll post it here. If you are looking for any of these things we will run that to. El Mercado is free to members; very inexpensive to others. Abed Farhan, a national AHCA member, is looking for a big Healey in good driving condition with no major issues. He would like to find a BJ8, BJ7, BN7 or BT7 that looks good and is in solid mechanical and structural condition. He would like to by from an owner, not a dealer and is willing to pay commensurate with condition. TOOL BOX The purpose of the Tool Box is to assemble, and make available for use by STAHC members, specialty tools that are used in the restoration of and/or maintenance of Healeys. In general, such tools will beat those that are too expensive for an individual member to acquire for one time or infrequent use. 7 TECH SESSIONS Tech sessions can be a get together of members to help a fellow club member with a specific problem or a task that requires, or is easier, with one or more helpers. A tech session can also be a meeting where a member, or non-member, with some particular skill or expertise demonstrates how to accomplish a particular task. Tech Session attendees may be helpers, teachers, learners, tool suppliers or any combination of the above. Tech session hosts usually supply light refreshments. Beer is recommended. If you would like to host a Tech Session please contact me (Rumblins editor) as far in advance as possible, but no less than one week ahead of the session date. I will forward your request to all members on the Rumblins list as soon as possible. Please supply the following information: Date, time and location with directions The task(s) that you hope to accomplish Description of the problems, if any, that you have encountered Tools required that you do not have Model and year of your Healey, e.g., BJ8 Phase II, 1967 Other information that you would like to include in your notice.
