But the weather forecast for Blanco on Friday night was for a good chance of morning thunderstorms the following day. When I woke in the morning it was not raining. A quick check of the map on Weather Channel showed the storm moving away from the Blanco area. So the pickup was on! President: David Ayer dbayer@swbell.net Vice President: Michael & Joy Escriva michael.escriva@gmail.com Membership: Tina Adkins (512) stahcmembership@icloud.com Treasurer: Bob Adkins (512) radkins@ieee.org AHCA Delegate: Jim Richmond (830) jkrich@gvtc.com Newsletter Editor & Webmaster: Ron Borden (830) rborden@gvtc.com Highway Cleanup: Jeff & Denene Whitmore (210) defwhit@satx.rr.com Many members of STAHC gathered at the McKinney Loop on River Road west of Blanco. They made short work of the pickup and had lunch at the Red Bud Café back in Blanco. The following took part in this event: Bob Atkins Brett and Julie Miller Bonnie and David Ayer Jim Richmond - (Healey) Cathy and Rick Borth Pat and DJ Stamp Melissa and Makayla Brown Denene and Jeff Whitmore Bob Chamberlain - (Healey) South Texas All British Car Day Representative: Lynn McKinnie (210) Lmckinnie@satx.rr.com Facebook Administrator: Jaime Molina (Continued on Page 3)

She, however, did not pick up much trash. Healeys belonging to Bob Chamberlain (L) and Jim Richmond parked in front of the Red Bud Café with the Blanco County courthouse in the background. 4 PRESIDENT S RAMBLIN S Monday as the temperature barely rises above 55 degrees... I wish you Happy Spring!! Lots of wild flowers continue to bloom. Many already have faded away. By the time you read this Texas Roundup 39 will be in the history books...no wait, we use now so you will get it as soon as Ron gets this in the newsletter. We noticed during research for the rally and gymkhana our use of modern technology was more easily assimilated into our planning sessions than in the past. ing, texting, a lot of googling, using camera on phone. No snail mail, no physical cut and paste, no xeroxing, don t have to carry a separate camera. Got a call from Armando Flores. He has a square body Sprite. Several of us techies attended a check up session on his car last year. His call for help was after he replaced the brake/clutch master cylinder. He couldn t get a clutch pedal. That can be the most frustrating bleeding operation known to many, ever. As a mechanic for many years I have spent untold hours pumping pedals, opening and closing bleed screws, topping up the reservoir, trying from top to bottom and bottom to top, pressuring the reservoir to aid in the flow fo fluid. I haven t heard if my suggestions worked but we made sure all the procedures were properly being followed. We went to Jeff s Resurrections a couple of weeks ago. His restoration shop is in Taylor. He has a few very interesting projects. One is a 3000 we might see at Roundup. Others include 2 Jaguar XJ220s, and a GT 40 with a very documented history. He also has a chassis dynamometer used to test the engine power output. I will talk to him about setting up a tech day. Yes, you might know the horsepower output on your Healey. I haven t checked the weather for this weekend. It will be what it will be and Roundup will go on. So pack up your vehicle. All roads lead to Georgetown!! Be safe, David Editor s Ramblin s By Ron Borden Just a short note this month since we are scurrying around to get things Rounded-Up for RoundUp. The winner is... (drum roll, please): By David Ayer Spring keeps re-springing Jim Richmond for his entry in the photo caption contest. Hopefully neither one in the picture will be offended by: Twins! There was an extremely slight possibility that the winning entrant would be awarded a concours quality BJ8 which was Jim s motivation for his entry. Unfortunately there were none available at the end of the contest. So sorry, Jim. But your participation is sincerely appreciated. A big verbal thank you is coming your way! 4

8 Conclave Dates are Sept. 6-11, 2019 Hotels Offering Same Rates Before Conclave To secure room nights before Conclave 2019 it now will begin Friday, Sept. 6 and end Wednesday morning, Sept. 11. The Minnesota Austin-Healey Club is excited and looking forward to hosting Conclave! Conclave 2019 will begin one day sooner for two reasons: Misunderstanding between organizers and hotels; Early enthusiasm for Conclave 2019 has been tremendous so all available rooms set aside after Conclave already had been booked! To meet anticipated demand for additional hotel room dates, the Minnesota Club has negotiated Conclave 2019 discounted rates that begin the night of September 4 and are effective through the night of September 10. As a result of those negotiations: Anyone who already has booked reservations after those dates and wants to keep them will have those reservations honored by the hotels; and you may add earlier nights September 4, 5 or 6 at the same daily rate. OR, if you already have hotel reservations for September 7-11 you may change your reservation block to September 6-10; and add September 4 and 5 to your stay at the same room rate. YOU MUST REGISTER FIRST for Conclave 2019 to get the password and your individual five-digit code necessary to reserve rooms at the hotels. We look forward to seeing you in Deadwood! 8
