8 Last Season s Recap (2010) Approximately 265 athletes, ages athletes advanced to the Regional Champs in Abilene ** Qualified to finals in 157 track and field events ** Won team 14 individual state titles Fifty-eight (58) athletes qualified for nationals!! ** 36 at USATF Junior Olympics (Sacramento, CA) 22 at USATF Cross Country Junior Olympics (Hoover, AL) ** Team won 10 Medals and 1 Individual National Championship at the USATF Junior Olympics in Track!!! Three(3) athletes competed in the USA National Junior Champs at Drake Univ** One athlete competed on the USA National Youth Team at the first World Youth Olympics in Singapore ** Graduated 5 seniors to NCAA college track programs Made new friends, learned and had fun NW Flyers Junior Olympians PLEASE STAND UP! ** = Team Record

9 NW Flyers College Scholarship Fund Goal: to provide college scholarships to exemplary student-athletes who have made long term commitments to the NW Flyers and the sport of Track & Field One-time merit awards up to $500 Program description and application are posted on the team website NOW!!! 10 Guest Speaker Tyrone Smith #24 Tyrone Smith knows what it takes to become a champion. He began his athletic career as a varsity track and football standout at Willowridge High School in Missouri City, TX. He went on to Baylor University where he was also a track and football standout and captain of the nationally ranked Baylor Bears football team. Tyrone s hard work ethic and positive attitude was an inspiration to his coaches and teammates. His fellow players chose him as the team captain because of his ability to motivate them towards success. Tyrone then went on to star in the National Football League where he played Cornerback back for the San Francisco 49ers. While working with the 49ers on community outreach programs, he found a love for helping others develop the attitude of a champion.

17 Director s Recap The Northwest Flyers is a youth track team, Affiliated with USATF, a competitive development system for youth track & field** All volunteer program no conflict of interests to meet salary, facility, & operating costs The program has a regular schedule of practices, competitions, and championships each season The training sessions and competitions are age appropriate but physically challenging An excellent program for those who aspire to compete on their middle school or high school track team USATF certified coaching, teaching is our coaching method (camps, clinics, video) A sport for life introduce kids to a healthy positive approach to running and fitness ** Note: this is not a recreational program

18 Commitment Level As an all-volunteer program our most precious resource is the time of our coaches, staff, and parent volunteers To use our resources effectively and fairly for the benefit of all that join the NW Flyers Track Club, athletes are expected to make the reasonable commitment of: practicing regularly (75%) competing regularly (75%) supporting our home track meet and participating in the championships Membership under any other basis requires a written request for exception by the parents and the approval of the Director
