5 Our Team Philosophy BUILDING CHAMPIONS ON AND OFF THE MAT can be summed up by providing a positive and challenging environment in the practice room focusing on our team s core values to help your son or daughter become both a Champion in wrestling and Life. 7 Is my child ready to compete? How often should we compete? Have them wrestle in the My First Wrestling Tournament Jan 17th. This Tournament is for new wrestlers only! No wrestling experience needed. Missed this tournament? Then ask coach Josh if your wrestler is ready. Pay attention to your child. If they are having fun at tournaments, and wanting to go then go compete. If they are not having fun at tournaments, and wanting to stay home on tournament day then don t sign up for another tournament until they are ready. Remember, they are young! Maybe they only wrestle in one or two tournaments, or even none this year. This is ok! If you drag them when they don t want to go they will just end up hating the sport.

9 Team CWC Cornhusker Wresting Club For the new or recreational wrestler ages 3-14 Wrestling Competitions are local Compete in as many or as few competitions as you would like Requirements to be on the team USA Wrestling Card needed to compete Participation in Fundraiser or $100 buy out

10 Team CWC Elite Cornhusker Wrestling Club Elite For the Competitive Wrestler ages 5 18 All Team CWC Elite Members get their own locker in the new team room at the gym! (formerly the family room) Requirements to be on the team Novice Wrestler who Practices 3 x Week Or Advanced Wrestler who practices at least 2 x Week (Based on drive to be a better wrestler, not ability) 1) Wrestles at USA District Tournament 2) Competes in a CWC Singlet 3) USA Card 4) Participation in Fundraiser or $150 buy out

11 USA Wresting Card Required to compete on Team CWC or Team CWC Elite 2 card options 1) $15 - Limited Folkstyle Membership -$50,000 in secondary sports accident insurance -Covers Folkstyle Wresting only 1) $40 Full Membership -$1 Million in secondary sports accident insurance -Covers all three major wrestling styles -May upgrade and pay price difference at anytime

15 What to Expect Wrestling Tournaments Local Tournaments (Team CWC Schedule) 1) Tournament Broken up Into Division 2) Divisions by Age or Grade 3) Weigh ins are held 1 hours before start time 4) Younger divisions start Earlier (9-10am) 5) Duration, 1 ½ - 2 ½ hours per Division 6) 4 man round robin 7) Trophy for 1 st place and medals through 4 th 8) Average Cost $16-$20 per Wrestler registration $1-4 per spectator admission ticket, $0-10 coaches pass Pre-K free

16 Coaching at Local Tournaments 1) 8 & Under - 1 Parent per wrestler is encouraged to be down by a mat coaching (if a wrestler starts to cry or get upset they tend to look for parents anyway) unless the tournament has coaching restrictions limiting the tournament to USA certified coaches only (none of the local tournaments have this restriction). 2) 8 & Under 1 Coach is provided to help guide all the parents at the tournament and coach. 3) 9 & Up Coaches will be provided based on how many wrestlers register for the tournament.

17 Registering for Tournament All tournament registrations are done online through Trackwrestling.com Upcoming Tournament information along with a sign up sheet to let us, other parents, and the coaching staff know you are going will be laid out weekly on the front desk at the gym. You can review this information during your wrestler s wrestling class. 28 All Academic Team We are creating a plaque to display at the gym with the all academic team. Requirements Elementary a 3.0 average or higher Middle School honor Roll student Bring in proof to the front desk and we will display their name on the all Academic team plaque! There will also be an award for anyone who remains on the all academic team all season long!
