2 The association DRAGONETTE Torino ONLUS (with the new section of Avigliana), in cooperation with Circolo Amici del Fiume, with the sponsorship of Piedmont Region, Province of Turin, City of Turin, City of Avigliana and District 8, under the effigy of TORINO 2015 European Capital of Sport, organizes the first international festival of women s dragon boat, with a dedicated section to BCS (Breast cancer survivors) - ABREAST IN A BOAT Project (fight breast cancer with paddling). Followed by a gala evening. Formal dress or team uniform is required June 28 th 9:00 a.m. BREAKFAST IN FRONT OF THE RIVER PO reserved to all the athletes and members. Local cakes will be offered 10:00 a.m. THE RIVER PO WILL BE DYED IN PINK - All the local rowing clubs and participating teams are invited to wear a pink T-shirt on their boats, in order to share with the Dragonette the idea that breast cancer can be fought with paddles 11:00 a.m. FINALS for all female crews 12:00 a.m. FINALS for BCS 12:30 a.m. FLOWERS CEREMONY - Flowers and balloons will be given to each athlete for the ceremony, BCS teams will be on the boat for the lap of honor, the other teams will participate from the terrace next to the competition ring 01:00 a.m. AWARDS CEREMONY with Authorities speeches a.m. CLOSING CEREMONY AND GREETINGS 02:00 a.m. LUNCH ON YOUR OWN 2

3 At the end of the race, the dragon boats will be available to anyone who wants to try the paddling emotions on the river Po. The most colored and folkloristic crews will be awarded. During the boat races there will be free delivering of water, snacks and fruits reserved to all the competing athletes. Inside the area of the Amici del Fiume, during the events, the athletes will be able to take advantage of some free specific shiatsu treatments (on ergonomic chairs) performed by qualified and specialized staff of the school of Hen Ryu Shiatsu - the school of change - and AIFI physiotherapists - Italian Physiotherapists Association - with the use of Neuromuscular Taping. The ATHLETE pass (handed over during the accreditation) allows to: - Access to the races - Competition package - Access to the boat - Conference Sport and Life - Gala evening and show - Access to refreshments - Breakfast near River Po 3

4 The VISITOR/GUEST pass (handed over during the accreditation) allows to: - Access to the races areas - Visitor/Guest Competition package - Conference Sport and Life - Gala evening and show - Access to refreshments - Breakfast near River Po At the competition area, there will be information points with regards to the activities of the no profits associations A.S.D. and O.N.L.U.S. Tents and information points of the companies sponsoring the event may be set up alongside Murazzi and the nearby areas (piazza Vittorio, Piazza Gran Madre, Giardini Ginzburg, Lungo Po Cadorna). The Continental Plastic company, in collaboration with the Italian-Chinese association ANGI AmiCina, will carry out the flower decorations and the choreography in the competition area (Terrazza Amici del Fiume, Giardini Ginzburg and Murazzi). The event will also be the occasion to remember the chinese dragon boat festival (which is in the month of June, where according to the legend the dragons were used to pay homage to the heroic poet Qu Yuan) it will be possible to taste the zongzi (rice rolls in bamboo leaves). Shuttle buses offered by MIRAFIORI Motor Village will be connecting the event venue to and from the main railway stations, the airport of Caselle Sandro Pertini, and the lake of Avigliana. The security service will be ensured by the staff of SMS DEFENSE (project DO NOT BE A VICTIM). During and after the event there will be the possibility for the athletes and/or any visitor to tour the city. Consulting online the website it will be possible to organize tours to the major attractions in Turin and Piedmont: Egyptian Museum, Museum of Cinema, Venaria Reale, the royal hunting lodge Stupinigi, Basilica of Superga by monorail train, tour Langhe and Roero (new UNESCO World Heritage Site) or the Romanesque Monferrato, the Susa Valley and its monuments: Exilles Fort, Avigliana and the Sacra di San Michele). Tours to Genoa, Milan, Pavia, Como can also be planned. Agreements have been made with the nearby hotels, B&Bs and restaurants (in Turin and Avigliana) for athletes and visitors. Evening entertainments and rides on dragon boats on the lake of Avigliana(about 30km) can be organized. 4

5 In Turin until June 24, it will be possible to see the display of the Holy Shroud. On the occasion of the patronal feast of St. John (June 24), there will be fireworks on the river side starting after 10 p.m. From on the 3 rd to 5 th of July 2015, the European Dragon Boat Championship will be held at the lake of Santa Caterina of Auronzo di Cadore - Belluno (about 400 km far from Turin).
