5 l Introduc1on (1) Germany supports more than 140 schools abroad worldwide. Awarded the German Seal of Quality for Academic Excellence. The DSK is one of the top private schools in Cape Town. About 30% of all learners coming from historically disadvantaged communi1es and receiving financial support. The Sports Olympiad is the pres1gious spor1ng highlight for all 6 German schools (Accra, Cape Town, Hermannsburg, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Windhoek) in Southern Africa. The Sports Olympiad takes place every 2 years.

6 l Introduc1on (2) The host 2018: DHPS in Windhoek. A team of 48 DSK students are selected - based on their ability within a sports discipline ie. athle1cs, swimming, tennis, volleyball, basketball, soccer and handball. The team is divided into 3 age groups: Group 1: 8 girls & 8 boys, born in 2004 and younger Group 2: 8 girls & 8 boys, born in 2002 or 2003 Group 3: 8 girls & 8 boys, born in 2000 or 2001 or 1999

11 l Background 60 DSK students and teachers are par1cipa1ng at the most important sports event outside the DSK school community September 2018 in Windhoek, Namibia. 300 athletes and teacher/coaches in total plus their supporters in Windhoek. Funds are needed for addi1onal training sessions, sports equipment, flights and team oulits. Total funds needed: R275,000 (R100,000 for oulit) DSK community (and parents of the par1cipants) are also contribu1ng to this event.
