1 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT o c tob e r We are coming to the close of our 2015 antique tractor pulling season in which some great memories have been made. I have gotten to meet some super nice people over the past few months and hope to meet more of you. I would like to thank Bob Hamlin and Mike Rivard for a great job leading our tractor pulling this year. Being the chairman of a committee involves a lot of hard work and even more time dedication than some may realize. These two men have gone above and beyond to keep the events moving in the right direction while having to deal with some obstacles along the way. Thank you to all the club members who help coordinate the club events as well. It takes us all working together to continue with our passion for old tractors. Hope to see you at the Fall Fun Day on the 24th. Pam Highlights of the October Meeting The meeting was held at the clubhouse in Norridgewock with Mike & Debby Rivard as hosts. We received another donation In Memory of Fred Hardy. A letter was read from the Town of Norridgewock. We need a permit for our Angel Building. Since our site has a septic system, we can t use a Porta Potty on a regular basis. We don t have electricity or water for the septic system. We need a solution before next spring. Your ideas are welcome. Clinton Fair would like us to do wagon ride shuttles next year. We will consider this. The tractor pulling was a success with seven pulls this year. The committee will work on solving some of the problems. Rule #10 was discussed. The lawn & garden tractor pulls were held about once a month. The numbers were down, but pullers had a good time. These committees have worked hard this year and deserve our many thanks. The Fall Festival October 24 was discussed. Posters were passed out. Canned goods will be collected and donated to a food pantry. The plans sound great. Try to attend and have a fun day. The money donated to KVCC from the Eben Quimby CD will be used for a new brick oven and trees in the orchard. At the Apple Festival in Monmouth, 229 children rode the barrel train. Suggestions are needed for the Youth Puller of the Year. Our president had the honor of pulling the porta potty to a different location. If she was a youth, I would nominate her. Several members won door prizes. We had 3 good days at Common Ground Fair this year. We took in $3,046 in tips. Many thanks to all the members who volunteered their time and tractors. Have a great Fall! Respectfully submitted by Harriet Spencer, Secretary NEXT MEETING: Nov. 1, 2015 Hosts: Joe & Irene Landry 19 Orestis Way, Lewiston, ME (207) Pot Luck Lunch: 12:00 pm Meeting: 1:00 pm First Nomination of Officers will be held. Try very hard to attend. Spencer, Treasurer NOTE: After having several people express concern about changing the date of the Plow Days in Gorham, we have been able to work out the issues so they will continue as planned on the 17th and 18th of October. 4 One of our long-time members has recently passed. I came to know Jackie Carney, along with her husband Del, about twenty years ago. Jackie had been with the Club fro the beginning, and welcomed me as if I were an old friend. Jackie was warm, funny, and always ready to lend a hand. She was easy to talk to and had a lifetime of wisdom to share. She and Del were a fixture at all the Club activities, sharring in the work needed to make each event a success. They were on the Summerfest Committee and we spent many fun-filled evenings having dinner at the Railway Cafe in Richmond before our meetings upstairs at the fire station. One of my favorite memories of her is from a Christmas gathering held at the Boothbay Railway Museum when she and Del did the Jitterbug when the dancing started after the banquet. Jackie is missed by her family and by all of us who knew and loved her. She packed a lot of living into her 90+ years. I am glad that I had those years of friendship with her. -Martha Larrivee LAND AND BUILDING COMMITTEE REPORT: The committee meet on September 16th at the club house at 6:00pm. Eighteen truss have been donated to our pulling arena as of this date. Hammond Lumber was contacted for pricing of the pulling arena and the club will need to have a commercial plan drawn up to meet state codes, etc. We will contact Wes Jordan from the Sheridan Corp. to see if he would be willing to donate his services to our club for these plans. Bob Clark will donate his equipment to level the donated piles of dirt within the next few weeks. Next meeting will be on October 14th at the club house at 6:00pm. All members are welcome. FALL FUN DAY/FESTIVAL COMMITTEE REPORT: The committee met on September 16th at the club house at 6:00pm. Five crafters and one food vendor are joining the event so far. Free Primitive camping will be available for club members. Three porta potties will be ordered. Entrance will be by donation at the new gate entrance only. Tickets will not be for sale at the party. Cost of tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Paul Fox reported in with the barrel train results from the Monmouth Apple Fest. On September 19th, a total of 229 kids had enjoyed a ride in the MATC barrel train! Thank you Paul, for making this happen. Thank you to Leon and Eunice for all your help with this fundraiser.
