4 HOW TO ENTER 1. READ THE SCHEDULE Please ensure that you have read this schedule thoroughly including the Rules and Regulations, Conditions of Entry, Closing Dates and Definitions. Sections included in this Schedule are Beef Carcase, Beef Cattle, Dairy Cattle, Junior Judging/Paraders Competitions, Fodder and Pasture. Please read your section thoroughly and ensure you understand the Regulations and Conditions of Entry prior to submitting your entries. 2. SELECT YOUR CLASSES Carefully select the classes in which you would like to enter. Please contact Administration if you are unsure of definitions. 3. COMPLETE THE ENTRY FORM Each Exhibitor must have their own entry form. Complete the entry form in full remembering to include a contact name and number in case there is an issue with your entry. Entry forms must be signed by the Exhibitor. Health Declarations and Certificates must be included with your entry. Copies of Breed Registration Certificates must be provided for all cattle entries. INCOMPLETE ENTRY FORMS WILL BE RETURNED 4. ENTRY FEES You must include payment for your entries in full at the time of entry. Please pay close attention to the entry fees listed at the beginning of each section as they can vary. Don t forget to include any additional requirements (i.e. bedding, calf space, membership) on your entry form. 5. PASSES Beef Carcase: Each Exhibitor will receive 1 complimentary day pass. Beef and Dairy: Individual entries will receive 1 complimentary four day pass plus an additional four day pass per $30 of entries received. All Exhibitors will receive a Stock Vehicle Pass to enter the Showgrounds which allows the driver to enter free of charge. 6. ENTRY CONFIRMATION & PASSES Entry confirmation and passes will be mailed to you approximately two weeks prior to the Royal Geelong Show. YOU CAN NOW ENTER ONLINE. FOR MORE INFORMATION GO TO or

5 GENERAL REGULATIONS 1. All Exhibits must be the bonafide property of the Exhibitor at the close of entries. 2. All entries must be lodged on the Official Entry Form on or before the nominated closing date. 3. No Exhibit will be admitted onto the Showgrounds, unless tickets received when entries are made are presented at the gate. 4. Exhibitors will be required to place Exhibits as directed by the Stewards or the EO. 5. No Exhibitor will be allowed in the section of the building/yard (except by permission of RGAPS) in which the Exhibit is placed during adjudication; and it shall be the duty of Stewards to prevent any person interfering with the Judge, and if necessary, order the removal of such offenders. 6. No person, except Members and Non-Members, on payment of admission and those actually in charge of stock, implements or machinery, and for whom an authority must be obtained from the EO, will be permitted to remain in the yard during the judging, under any pretence whatever. The persons in charge must on no account leave their respective lots, or address the Judge, unless authorised by the Stewards. 7. Persons in charge of stock will be admitted free on presentation at the gate of attendant s tickets, and they shall be subject to the order of the Stewards. 8. The Judge may award a second prize instead of a first, or may withhold a prize altogether when he/she think there is not sufficient merit. Where only two Exhibits are entered prizes may be awarded if they think proper, to both Exhibits provided such Exhibits are not property of the same individual, unless otherwise specified. 9. Where special prizes are offered in a class, the first prize offered by RGAPS will be withdrawn unless otherwise specified. 10. If, in the opinion of the Judge, any Exhibition of Livestock is unsound, either temporary or otherwise, the opinion of the Honorary Veterinary Surgeon of RGAPS may be obtained before the prize is awarded. 11. The decision of the Judge as to the merits of Exhibits shall be final and without appeal. 12. Protests against awards based on non-compliance with the conditions of the Prize Schedule or the Regulations will be taken into consideration by RGAPS, if lodged with the EO by 3.00 pm on the day of the Show, or for classes where a prize is not awarded on the first morning of Show, one hour after the Judge has made his award, together with $50 as a guarantee of the bona-fide of the protest. The money will be returned if the protest is found by RGAPS to be final and without appeal, excluding the dog section, which is affiliated with and controlled by the Rules of Dogs Victoria. 13. Exhibitors must give such information with regard to their Exhibits as RGAPS may require and submit statutory declarations with such information, and produce evidence if called upon by RGAPS. In case of non-compliance, the Exhibit may be disqualified and the prize withheld. RGAPS also has the right to refuse any entry and also refuse any Exhibit entered the right to compete without giving any reason for same, provided the entrance money is returned. 14. RGAPS will not be responsible for Exhibits, but every reasonable care will be taken of the same. 15. No Exhibitor shall interfere with the Exhibits in ANY WAY whatever during the time the Exhibition is open. Anyone interfering without the permission of the Stewards may be expelled from the Showgrounds. 16. No animals, implements etc except those entered will be allowed on the Showgrounds. 17. All vehicles bringing Exhibits to the yards must be removed from the yards after discharging their loads, or placed where directed by the Stewards of the Section. 18. No person shall have proprietorship for the time being in the pens that have been allotted to the stock entered by such person, and no one will be permitted to put any placard or advertisement on the ground without the consent of the Stewards. 19. Exhibitors must state as accurately as possible, at time of entry, the date of birth of all stock in classes where age is specified, and in all sheep classes, the time of last shearing. 20. Implements, machinery and commercial Exhibits, livestock and general Exhibits must be in their places in the yards by 8.00am on the day of Show. 21. Any infringement of these Regulations may disqualify the Exhibitor from taking a prize. Any dispute as to the constructions of these Regulations or the interpretation of the Prize Schedule shall be determined by RGAPS, whose decision is final and without appeal. 22. Dogs must be registered under the Regulations adopted by Dogs Victoria. 23. Water will be provided for stock Exhibited, but Exhibitors must provide their own fodder.

6 24. RGAPS will not be held responsible in cases where wrong class tickets have been given to Exhibitors after judging has commenced. It is the responsibility of the Exhibitor to check section tickets with the Prize Schedule prior to the Show. 25. If, in the opinion of the Stewards, the conduct of any Exhibitor or any other person shall be such as to demand such a course, they shall have the power to forfeit any or all prizes such Exhibitors may have won, and may further cause such person or Exhibitor and Exhibit to be removed from the Showgrounds. 26. Beverages/Food brought onto the Showgrounds in glass containers is strictly forbidden. 27. If due to unforeseen circumstances sponsorship is not forthcoming for any sponsored class, the prizemoney/prize may not be provided by RGAPS. 28. ENTRY FEES, PRIZEMONEY & OTHER CHARGES All entry fees as specified in Schedule must be paid at time of entry. Prizemoney is GST inclusive. If you are registered for GST, the onus is on the Exhibitor to remit GST to the ATO and provide RGAPS with a Tax Invoice. Any prize (trophies, vouchers, etc) awarded by RGAPS at any of their competitions and left unclaimed for a period of six months, will be forfeited and cancelled by the RGAPS Management Council. Any prizemoney cheques not presented within fifteen months from the date of the Show will be cancelled by the RGAPS Management Council. 29. REFUND OF ENTRY FEES 30. ACCESS Entry fees for various categories are listed within Section Regulations. RGAPS will NOT refund monies overpaid by $10 or less. Access to/from Geelong Showgrounds after 9.00pm on each day of the Show. Pedestrian access is available for personnel exiting the Geelong Showgrounds from all gates between the hours of 9.00pm and 11.00pm. Vehicle access will be available to exit the Showgrounds, from Gate 6 between the hours of 9.00pm and 11.00pm, and thereafter, only from Gate 2 (Breakwater Road). No vehicle is permitted entry after 9.00am, except where appropriate vehicle passes have been provided and attached to the windscreen of the vehicle, otherwise entry will be refused. Gate instructions must be strictly adhered to. Security and Show Gate Personnel have the right to enforce all Regulations in regard to gate access to the Geelong Showgrounds. 31. CONDUCT ON THE GEELONG SHOWGROUNDS Security and Show Personnel have the right to enforce all Regulations and control in regard to people behaviour and remove those persons as determined. Alcohol is not permitted to be brought into the Geelong Showgrounds. 32. PASSES FOR ATTENDANTS As many attendants as RGAPS may deem necessary will be allowed into the yards free to take charge of Exhibits, and passes will be issued on application to the EO. Passes are to be presented and officially marked at entrance gates. 33. INSURANCE Primary Producers who show their animals are required to have public liability insurance. IMPORTANT NOTE The Royal Geelong Agricultural & Pastoral Society Inc will not be held liable for any injuries that may be suffered by a person or persons taking part in functions on behalf of an Exhibitor. In the event of an incident, RGAPS will appoint attendant/s to take charge and control of all his/her entries. It is the owner s responsibility to provide security to ensure their animals are kept safe and secure for the duration of their time on the Geelong Showgrounds

7 SAFETY REGULATIONS FOR EXHIBITORS 1. DUTY OF CARE: All Exhibitors have a Duty of Care to avoid exposing themselves or other people to situations that could lead to injury. This Duty of Care extends to the prevention of damage to property. 2. DIRECTION OF ROYAL GEELONG AGRICULTURAL & PASTORAL SOCIETY INC (RGAPS) Exhibitors must comply with any reasonable request of RGAPS representatives. 3. EMERGENCY INFORMATION: Emergency information and maps showing Emergency Assembly Points are located in the various animal pavilions and buildings. Exhibitors should be familiar with these plans. 4. FIRST AID: Event First Aid Services will provide the First Aid services at the Royal Geelong Show, located near the Administration building. 5. EMERGENCY FACILITIES: Fire fighting and other emergency equipment must not be removed or used for any other purpose. Missing or unserviceable equipment should be reported to Section/Pavilion Supervisor or Administration immediately. 6. HAZARD & INCIDENT REPORTING: Exhibitors must notify the Section/Pavilion Supervisor or Administration immediately of any hazards detected or incidents. Hazards or incidents are any situation that could result or has resulted in: (a) the injury, illness or death of any person or animal (b) the damage, destruction or loss of property. 7. WASTE DISPOSAL: All waste, including liquids, must be disposed of responsibly. Storm drains must not be used for the disposal of waste. 8. HOUSEKEEPING: All areas must be kept clean and tidy with clearly defined and available access and exit routes at all times. Build-up of combustible waste must be avoided at all times. 9. SLIPS, TRIPS & FALLS: Care must be taken to minimize trip hazards and obstacles that people may walk into. Avoid laying unprotected cables or pipes on or above paths, walkways or roads. 10. MEDIA COMMENTS: Media comment about matters involving RGAPS or the Showgrounds is co-ordinated by the EO. 11. SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted inside buildings, within 10m of a building entrance, around combustibles, during public performances or while handling hazardous materials. 12. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT Exhibitors should supply their own Safety Switch (RCD) for installation at each power outlet they use. Extension cords must be earthed and all electrical appliances must be earthed or double insulated. Appliances must be in a sound working order. The use of double adapters is strictly prohibited. Power boards must be fitted with current overload protection. Radiant electric or gas heaters are prohibited. Light sockets must not be used for any other purpose than for lighting. No naked flames are permitted. All Exhibitor electrical items, including leads must have a current safety compliance tag.

8 BEEF CARCASE Beef Carcase Superintendent: Sheree Seiffert ENTRY FEE: $30 PER HEAD ENTRIES CLOSE: 28 SEPTEMBER 2017 LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED Entry confirmations and ear tags will be posted out prior to the Royal Geelong Show. ON HOOF LIVE JUDGING MC HERD CORIO TUESDAY 17 OCTOBER 9:00AM CARCASE VIEWING MC HERD CORIO THURSDAY 19 OCTOBER FROM 4:00PM Followed with a function by invitation courtesy of MC Herd Pty Ltd BREED SPECIFIC PRIZE MONEY Australian Limousin Breeders Society $100 Champion Carcase and $100 Champion of Hoof provided that it is nominated on entry form as being sired by a Limousin bull. Geelong Murray Grey Breed Promotion Group $150 for Grand Champion Carcase and $75 for Reserve Champion Carcase provided that they are entered as Pure Murray Grey Breed societies are notified of full Carcase Competition results and prizemoney is forwarded directly to successful Exhibitors. Sides of the nine winning Carcases will be displayed in the Hall of Agriculture CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. NLIS identification is compulsory. 2. Any Beef Breed or any Beef Cross Breed steer or heifer is eligible. 3. A maximum of 75 entries will be accepted. 4. Maximum of 3 head per exhibitor 5. Only naturally polled and dehorned (5cm maximum) entries will be accepted. 6. Beef carcase entries must be HGP free. 7. Judges are the persons appointed to judge by the Committee. 8. Exhibits must be the property of the Exhibitor on judging day and must have been owned by the Exhibitor for at least two months prior to the competition. 9. Entry forms must be lodged with RGAPS by the closing date, signed by the Exhibitor or Agent with the appropriate fee or entries will not be accepted. 10. Exhibits shall be milk tooth only, except Class 3002 which may be 2 tooth. 11. The judge, in making decisions in classes for livestock will take into account maturity, quality, conformation and development, evenness of depth of flesh, absence of any wasteful fat, and suitability for the trade. 12. The Judge will not be bound to grant any award to any Exhibit which, in his opinion, he considers of insufficient merit or over age to receive such award. 13. An Exhibit, after arrival at MC Herd Pty Ltd, shall not be withdrawn from judging unless approved by the Committee. 14. Once cattle are penned they cannot be moved unless authorised by the Chief Steward. 15. In the event of any question or dispute arising as to any matter or thing affecting the entry of or retention of any animal in the judging pens, or affecting the exhibition or qualification of any animal, or as to the right or obligation of any Exhibitor or of the Society, every such question and dispute may be referred by RGAPS, or by the Exhibitor, or other party affected, to the Chief Steward, who shall determine such question or dispute, acting upon such information and evidence and his decision shall be final and accepted as binding upon all parties to such question or dispute and upon all persons affected thereby. 16. Upon delivery of cattle at MC Herd Pty Ltd Exhibits will be weighed and will be drafted to their show pens. 17. Classes will be judged in their respective show pens. 18. There will be flexibility in the judging for entries to be reassigned to their correct weight class. Any overweight s in Class 3002 or under-weights in Class 3000 will incur loss of points in carcase judging. 19. Overweight or underweight cattle will not be judged in the live weight section. 20. RGAPS will take every care in assisting Exhibitors to yard and handle Exhibits but accepts no responsibility for loss or injury. 21. All cattle must have the Exhibitor s NLIS Ear Tag and the supplied Beef Carcase Competition Ear Tag in place and must be accompanied by a current completed Vendor Declaration Form prior to arrival at MC Herd. 22. Exhibits must be delivered to MC Herd from 7.00am on Tuesday 17 October to be weighed prior to judging. 23. To accommodate the requirements of some Breed Societies, an On Hoof Champion will be judged from the three class winners. The committee has the power to evict any Exhibitor or Exhibit from the showgrounds in the event of a breach of the condition 1 DAIRY & BEEF CATTLE ENTRY CLOSING DATE: 28 th September Exhibitors: Owner s full name, address and Stud name must be included on the Official Entry Form. 3. Breed Registration: COPIES OF BREED REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES MUST BE PROVIDED WITH YOUR ENTRIES. Pending registrations will be not accepted. All animals must be entered in the name of the owner(s) shown on the Registration Certificate. 4. Exhibit Ownership: All Exhibits must be the bona fide property of the Exhibitor. The Exhibit s Registration Certificate must show the Exhibitor s name as the registered owner or as one of the owners. All exhibits may be subject to inspection under the bona fide Exhibitor s conditions. 5. Health Declarations: Cattle Exhibitors must use the National Cattle Health Statement Version 24 October The Health Declaration form must be signed by the Exhibitor and returned with your entry form otherwise entries cannot be accepted. 6. Insurance: Exhibitors showing their animals are required to have Public Liability Insurance. 7. Preparation frames: A limited number of frame spaces will be available in specified locations, provided an application for space and a $20 fee accompanies the entries on the official entry form. Preparation Frames must be of a sound and safe construction with a secure floor. Preparation frames not deemed to be of a safe and sound construction by the Cattle Committee, must be immediately removed and payment forfeited. 8. Bedding: Shavings are provided at a cost of $10 per head which must be paid on the entry form. Straw is not permitted. 9. Stock Vehicle Pass: One Stock Vehicle Pass will be issued per Exhibitor and must be adhered to the windscreen of the vehicle, otherwise entry will be refused 10. Stock Exhibitor Support Vehicle Pass: provides access to drop off and pick up equipment and feed.

Arrival of Cattle: DAIRY CATTLE: MAY ARRIVE FROM SUNDAY 15 TH OCTOBER 2017 FROM 12PM & UP UNTIL THE TIME OF CLASS JUDGING BEEF CATTLE: MAY ARRIVE ON SITE FROM 8.00PM FRIDAY 20 th OCTOBER Departure of Cattle: DAIRY CATTLE: EXHIBITORS ARE REQUIRED TO DEPART BY 4.00PM FRIDAY 20 th OCTOBER 2017 BEEF CATTLE: EXHIBITORS ARE REQUIRED TO STAY UNTIL 5.00PM SUNDAY 22 nd OCTOBER Electrical Equipment: All Exhibitors electrical items (including leads) must have current safety compliance tags. 14. Name Boards: All Exhibitors name boards are the property of RGAPS and must not be removed. 15. Drilling into wood and/or bitumen in and around the Cattle Pavilion is not permitted. 16. Uniform: All Exhibitors and/or attendants must wear the approved breed/society uniform whilst showing. 17. Accommodation: Overnight accommodation is for entered/exhibited cattle only. Tents /Caravans are not permitted to be in vehicle parking area. SPECIAL REGULATIONS DAIRY CAMP KITCHEN AVAILABLE 18. Milking Machines: An additional space will be provided to all dairy Exhibitors for storage of their milking machines. Milking machines will also be available on the showgrounds if required. 19. Handlers: (a) only experienced handlers are to parade cattle (b) children aged 10 years and under who lead cattle must be accompanied by an adult 20. Judging: (a) Judging will be in the order of the schedule unless altered by the Chief Steward. (b) A Dry Cow is defined as not giving more than two litres of milk per day. (c) All adult dairy cattle birthdates must be in the calendar year. 21. Awards: (a) 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd Ribbons will be awarded in all breed classes (b) Champion, Reserve Champion, Junior Champion and Reserve Junior Champion sashes will be awarded in Dairy classes. SPECIAL REGULATIONS BEEF 22. Competition in this section is available to animals that are registered as Adults or in the Calf Register of their respective Herd Book Societies of Australasia (except classes of the Junior Section, ) 23. Nose Rings, Halters & Leads: All cattle must be restrained in the following manner: (a) when stalled, each animal must be securely tied up by an effective neck rope collar and halter. Calves at Foot: (a) A suckling calf of an exhibit may be admitted to the judging ring if it is under 9 months of age as at 21 October The calf is to be the natural born progeny of the exhibit and bear all the identification requirements of the breed society /association regulations, if born prior to arrival on the Showgrounds. (b) Calves 9 months and over from 21 October 2017 MUST be entered into the breed classes on the Saturday of the show. (c) Calves must be eligible to be registered with the relevant breed society / association. 25. Handlers: Only experienced handlers are to parade cattle Children under 12 years may not lead bulls Children aged 10 years and under who lead cattle must be accompanied by an adult. 26. Awards: (a) 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd Ribbons will be awarded in all breed classes (b) Champion, Reserve Champion, Junior Champion and Reserve Junior Champion sashes will be awarded in Beef classes. (c) Junior Champions in Beef Breed classes will be judged from not over 20 months classes (d) Senior Champions in Beef Breed classes will be judged from the over 20 months classes (e) In the judging of Reserve Champion and Reserve Junior Champion, the Exhibit second in the class of the Champions must also be paraded. (f) A Grand Champion Exhibit sash will be awarded in all Beef sections (g) Perpetual trophies will remain in the RGAPS Administration Office. 27. Judging: (a) Judging will be in order of the schedule unless altered by Chief Steward. (b) Progeny Classes: Classed animals are to be sired by the same bull but don t have to be owned by the sire s owner. (c) In the event of withdrawal from any section, the Breed Steward must be notified before judging. (d) Cattle deemed by the Cattle Committee to be out of show condition will not be permitted to parade before the judges. (e) If in the opinion of the Cattle Committee, an Exhibit is deemed dangerous for any reason whatsoever, the Exhibitor will be required to forthwith remove the exhibit from the Showgrounds. (f) Exhibitors and Handlers displaying unsuitable behaviour and/or lack of decorum will be banned by the Committee from this show and potentially future shows (refer to General Regulations, Item 25). (g) Breeds with restricted classes the winner of each class is entitled to compete in respective Interbreed class. e.g. Bull under 20 months in Junior Champion Bull Bull 20 months and over in Senior Champion Bull Heifer under 20 months in Junior Champion Heifer Cow 20 months and over in Senior Champion Cow Group of Three class in Champion Group of Three (h) At the Committees discretion, if there are more than 8 head of cattle of one breed being exhibited in the Any Other Beef Breed class, they may be exhibited in their own breed classes (restricted or full dependant on number of head entered). 28.
