The Drag Strip which has been hosting competitors and made many names well known upon the track plays hosts to IMBBA (International Master Bike Builders Association) Tuesday, August 6, IMBBA will be judging a ride in show and have invited all the winners of the IMBBA sanctioned bike shows throughout the USA for its National Championship. 6 Sandusky, Ohio- IMBBA International Master Bike Builders Association Judged its first sanctioned bike show on June 8, 2013 for Thunder Roads Ohio Magazine. The bike show was on the main street center stage with over 35 unique and custom bikes. The promoters Brad Stocheck and Derick the main organizers worked feverishly to bring back a bike show to its venue. IMBBA Judges were: IMBBA president and Chief Judge, Jeff Starke, Master Judge Charlie Hadayia from Bikers Choice and Judge Ron Radeke from PSI Power Sport Institute. Scorer/ recorder in attendance - Jean Beals. The show met with record crowds and standing room only to get to see some of these custom machines. The Awards were works of art in themselves and were presented on stage with the one and only World famous Jay Allen. 9 Boise, Idaho - May 24, The Western Motorcycle Drag Racing Association (WMDRA) is pleased to announce that they will host the International Master Bike Builder Association (IMBBA) North American Championship Bike Show and Hall of Fame Induction at Sturgis Dragway on Tuesday, August 6, "The WMDRA is thrilled to share the artistry and craftsmanship of the IMBBA North American Championships with our drag racing fans at the 2013 AMSOIL Sturgis Nationals," according to WMDRA President Sandra Alberti. "We're very excited to also have the IMBBA Master Judges tour the pits and award special recognition to the performance bike of their choice." As an international community of bike builders and industry professionals, IMBBA members have vowed to leave the industry better than they found it through education and training, and top bike builders in North America and representative builders in eleven countries have embraced the point system developed by the organization to create and implement a certification process for builders and skilled technicians. 14 This comes up a lot. IMBBA is the only professional judging service in the world and we are constantly improving. But, one thing that makes us so special is we communicate with the builders and owners after the awards are given. We do this because our judging system only sees the physical attributes of the bike under IMBBA s Fit, Form, Function and Safety guidelines. In doing so with a discipline, we proudly boast that the builders and owners always walk away with a full understanding of their bike and how it can be built better or rather, how to improve it for bike show competitions, which ever the goal of the owner or builder. What always DOES come up is "What do you mean when you say it wasn t bolted together properly?" IMBBA doesn t make things up, but we do hold builders to the trade and not the tricks. First and foremost what kills great designs, restorations, custom bike builds is when the builder/owner is not aware of the SAE Hardware Standards. Meaning.. When to use lock nuts, flat washers, or lock washers or how many threads should stick out past the lock nut etc. These are crucial and at times can mean a point between wining first or second place in a tuff competition. The sum of all parts whether handmade, built, or purchased is always comes down to will it stay together and has it followed the standards. Next bike you wish to enter into an IMBBA sanctioned event. Take a good look at these pointers and ask yourself, could I do a better job in the hardware department and if the answer is yes, assuredly, you will build your customer a better product. REMINDER. 15 Well we celebrate eight years now of building solidarity in the motorcycle trade profession, as we get closer to that reality that one day, consumers can look to a creditable agency for assurance that the mechanic they select is and has been third party certified rather than self proclaimed. I can t tell you as I travel about how many times I have heard people say, I have been a master bike Builder for 40 years. I find myself humble and allowing them to go on. As many of our present day certified builders submitted their lifes work, documentation certificates dipilomas and the like to IMBBA. And a portfolio is created that tracks the performance of that individual, and can proudly say that that individual earned the right to say I am a Master bike Builder before his peers as well as the riding public. Taking nothing away from the individual who self proclaims themselves as Master Bike builders and I am sure in many cases deserving of that recognition. But in todays day an age, third party verification goes a long way, and I encourage builders every where to take the time and apply and complete the IMBBA certify Me work sheet. Here one can see how they stack up to others now in eleven countries. In addition, I want to encourage already certified members of IMBBA to look inward to asisist IMBBA in encouraging others that you may find through your many travels that should also apply. Recently we have added assistence and will now be improving the certification process and getting renewals and certificates to those in a more timely manner. We continue to grow and have received great reviews from builders and promoters over our judging and certifications. Ready for year nine and beyond. In Strugis this year we have invited those winners of the IMBBA bike shows to compete for the National IMBBA Championship this year held at the Sturgis Dragway. And will also invite our members and industry professionals to come and be part of the IMBBA Hall of Fame Ceremony. The best part of my job is seeing individuals like Jay Allen and Steve Broyles Sr. get the recognition for a lifetime of dedication to our trade. 21 We talk about living and breathing this industry to be successful and this student is doing it. This month's student of the month takes in all he can while attending school and as much as he can after and outside of class. He contributes 100% during class and has volunteered to stay after on projects or just to get some extra practice on his own time. In addition several staff members have seen him attending multiple industry shows locally and out of state. This kind of networking and desire to learn about as much as possible will definitely make him successful in the field. He has an overall GPA of 96.4% and has missed only two days since starting school last fall. With a background in automotive this month's Student of the Month probably had a good head start in his training and he also did not have to travel too far from home. However he also had a few more responsibilities then a lot of students. Some of those responsibilities could have interfered with this student's ability to devote the effort needed to be successful at PSI but this student has not allowed that to happen.
