A win over the Salukis would give the Ramblers their longest winning streak in conference play since a six-game run in when they were members of the Horizon League. 4 Through games of January 14, Loyola s 14 wins were the most of any NCAA Division I team in the state of Illinois. 4 At 14-4 overall, the Ramblers have their best record through 18 games since the squad won 16 of its first 18 contests en route to a 22-3 season that ended with a NCAA Tournament berth. 4 The campaign is a season-long celebration of the 100th year of Loyola men s basketball. In their storied history, the Ramblers have produced 17 All-Americans, made five appearances in the NCAA Tournament and four in the NIT. Loyola won the 1963 NCAA title and to this day remains the only school from the state of Illinois to have captured the NCAA Division I men s basketball championship. 4 When the NCAA released the latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data in November, Loyola was tied with five other schools, including four Ivy League members, for the No. 1 spot in the nation at 99 percent. This marks the second straight year that Loyola has shared the top GSR position among NCAA Division I institutions. Ben Richardson netted a team-high 16 points to lead the Ramblers that day. 4Loyola is 2-3 all-time against Southern Illinois on its home floor and is seeking its first win over SIU at Gentile Arena since February 11, 2015 (66-62). 4Close games have been the norm in this series, with seven of the 11 meetings being decided by seven points or less. Last year s three games were decided by a combined 13 points. 4Loyola is 2-7 against Southern Illinois since joining the MVC for the campaign. SCOUTING SOUTHERN ILLINOIS 4Southern Illinois has won seven of its last 11 games despite dealing with a rash of injuries this season. The Salukis six Valley games have been decided by a combined total of 29 points. 4The Salukis are 2-5 in true road games this season and are 1-2 on the road in conference action, with the lone victory coming at UNI (56-53). 4Junior guard Armon Fletcher leads the Salukis with 14.6 ppg and ranks second on the club with 5.3 rpg, while Sean Lloyd adds 12.3 ppg and 4.8 rpg. 4Loyola assistant coach Bryan Mullins was a standout player at SIU from and led the team to two NCAA Tournament appearances in his career in Carbondale. 4Fletcher scored 26 points to spearhead Southern Illinois rally from a three-point halftime deficit in a victory over Illinois State on January 13. The win snapped SIU s two-game losing streak. ACTION JACKSON 4Aundre Jackson, the Missouri Valley Conference Sixth Man of the Year, has been a key to Loyola s success this season, averaging 13.1 ppg, burying 67.5 percent (77-for-114) of his field goal attempts and 54.5 percent (12-for-22) of his threes in the Ramblers wins, compared to 9.5 ppg, on 39.5 percent (15-for-38) from the field and 20 percent (2-for-10) from long range, in his team s losses. 4Last season, Jackson set a Loyola single-season record and narrowly missed establishing a new Missouri Valley Conference record by connecting on an astounding 66.9 percent (178-for-266) of his field goal attempts, a figure that ranked fourth in the nation. That mark came one year after he ranked fourth in the NJCAA in field goal percentage (64.9 percent) at McLennan College. He currently ranks 29th in the NCAA with a.605 (92-for-152) field goal percentage. 4The 6-foot-5 senior forward is springing for 14.5 ppg and 4.0 rpg, on a remarkable 82.8 percent (24-for-29) shooting, in four games this year versus teams from the state of Illinois. 4Jackson exploded for 23 points, on 10-of-12 shooting, in Loyola s win at No. 5 Florida on December 6, and in his last 12 games in the month of January, is contributing 12.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg and connecting on 67.5 percent (56-for-83) of his field goal attempts. 4 The Kennedale, Texas native, who got his Loyola career off to a rousing start in by scoring in double figures in each of the first 13 games, has helped the Ramblers to a 14-6 record in his 20 career starts, averaging 13.3 ppg in those games. 4 Not since Booker Woodfox of Creighton in has a Missouri Valley Conference Sixth Man of the Year developed into a First Team All-MVC player the following season. 4 Jackson came off the bench for the first time this season versus Evansville (Dec. 30) and tallied 18 points. He is pitching in 10.8 ppg and 3.2 rpg in five games off the pine this season and led the way with 15 points last week at Illinois State. 4 Dating back to last season, in his last 11 conference games, Jackson is accounting for 13.5 ppg and 4.1 rpg, while shooting 58.6 percent (58-for-99) from the field. 4 Over the last five games at Gentile Arena, Jackson is putting up 11.2 ppg, 3.6 rpg and 1.6 apg, and draining shots at a 70.3 percent (26-for-37) clip. 4 He is averaging 10.0 ppg and shooting 44 percent (11-for-25) against SIU.

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS PORTER MOSER - head coach Overall Record: At Loyola: In his 14th season as a head coach and seventh at Loyola University Chicago, Porter Moser is known as a tireles recruiter, master game tactician and true teacher of the game. A graduate of Benet Academy, Moser is a native of Naperville, Ill., and came to Loyola following a stint as the associate head coach at Saint Louis University under the late Rick Majerus. Moser has guided the Ramblers to the 2015 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) title in the first postseason berth since 1985, led them to seven wins over Power 5, Big East or Mountain West conference schools, posted the most wins since 1985 (24 in ) and seen Loyola earn its first Associated Press Top 25 votes since the historic run to the NCAA Sweet 16 in Milton Doyle, the first Chicago Public League recruit to attend Loyola in a decade, thrived under Moser s tutelage and left as one of the program s all-time greats. The versatile guard not only became the first player in program history to earn First Team All-MVC accolades, but also is the first Rambler since Blake Schilb in 2007 to earn First Team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District recognition. Named one of the top 50 assistant coaches in the nation by Basketball Times in 2009, Moser helped Saint Louis to a overall record during his four years on staff and his recruiting efforts helped land several of the Billikens players that guided the program to back-to-back NCAA Tournament berths. No stranger to the Missouri Valley Conference, Moser was the head coach at Illinois State from and graduated from Creighton, which was a member of the MVC at the time. Prior to his stint at Illinois State, Moser compiled a record in three seasons as head coach at Arkansas-Little Rock. Taking over the Trojans program at only 31 years of age, Moser turned a 4-24 team into an squad in one season, the greatest turnaround in Sun Belt Conference history. The Ramblers also own four more wins over Big East or Mountain West schools since the start of the campaign. 4In its 14 wins, Loyola is putting up 76.8 ppg and shooting 53.4 percent (380-for-712) from the field and 43.2 percent (111-for-257) from long distance. However, this year those numbers are 8.7 ppg, 5.2 rpg and 40 percent (18-for- 45) from the field and 38.5 percent (10-for-26) from deep, through six Valley contests. 4Since the start of , Ingram has shot lights out at home, connecting on an impressive 54.7 percent (52-for-95) of his three-point attempts. Over his last four appearances at Gentile Arena, Ingram is shooting a scorching 72.2 percent (13-for-18) from beyond the arc. 4Ingram is tallying 14.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg and shooting 59.5 percent (44-for-74) from the field and 57.1 percent (24-for-42) from triple territory, in the last eight home MVC games. He netted 15 points against Bradley on Saturday and in the last pair of outings at Gentile, is posting 15.5 ppg and shooting 61.1 percent (11-for-18) from the field and 70 percent (7-for-10) from deep. SURE SHOTS 4One year after ranking 17th in the NCAA in field goal percentage, Loyola finds itself among national leaders again this year, sitting 12th with a.504 accuracy rate. The Ramblers drained a single-game program record 71.4 percent (25-for-35) of their field goal attempts against Norfolk State on December 9, while connecting on 76.9 percent (10-for-13) of their triple tosses, the second-highest mark in Loyola annals. 4Entering Wednesday s game versus Southern Illinois, the Ramblers sit 20th in the country with a.408 accuracy rate from three-point territory, led by Marques Townes 50 percent (17-for-34) mark. LATER, GATORS 4Loyola s victory at No. 5 Florida on December 6 was its first over a top-five opponent since a victory over No. 4 Illinois on December 22, It was also the Ramblers first victory over a nationally ranked foe since a decision at No. 15 Butler on February 15, The win snapped a 12-game losing skid to ranked foes and was Loyola s first-ever true road win over a top-five opponent. ALL IN THE FAMILY 4New to the Rambler coaching staff this season is assistant Drew Valentine, who spent the last two years on Greg Kampe s staff at Oakland University, where he starred as a player. Valentine also has experience as a graduate assistant at Michigan State, where he helped the Spartans to the 2015 Final Four. 4Valentine s younger brother, Denzel, is a key contributor for the Chicago Bulls and through games of January 14, was averaging 9.7 ppg, 5.4 rpg and 3.0 apg.

He handed out a season-best seven assists versus UIC on December 2, had a 14-point, eight-rebound, three-assist, three-steal effort at No. 5 Florida on December 6, and recorded 18 points at Missouri State on December 22. The 18 points are the most ever by a Loyola true freshman in a MVC opener. Krutwig is coming off a 21-point, 13-rebound performance versus Bradley. He is the first Loyola freshman to record a double-double since Milton Doyle at Drake (16 points, 10 boards) on February 15, He pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds against Bradley on January 13, the most caroms by a Loyola freshman since Christian Thomas gathered 13 boards at Toledo on December 10, Named MVC Newcomer of the Week on December 11, Krutwig is producing 11.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.8 apg and 1.5 bpg on 59.4 percent (19-for-32) shooting in his last four games at Gentile Arena. 4Despite his 6-foot-9, 260-pound frame, Krutwig, who has dropped 30 pounds since arriving on campus, is an exceptional passer and last season fell one assist shy of a quadruple double in a IHSA playoff victory over Larkin High School by recording 20 points, 24 rebounds, 12 blocks and nine assists. OUR KIND OF TOWNES 4After sitting out last season following a transfer from Fairleigh Dickinson, where he averaged 11.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.7 apg and 1.3 spg in and helped the Knights to the NCAA Tournament, Marques Townes has made an immediate impact in He has scored in double figures in 13 of Loyola s first 18 games of , and appears to have shaken off a four-game slump, during which he managed 5.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg and 2.5 apg on 34.6 percent (9-for-26) shooting from the field and 40 percent (2- for-5) from long distance.
