LAST TIME VS. GARDNER-WEBB u Carolina got double-doubles from both Deon Thompson and Ed Davis in a home win over Gardner-Webb on Nov. 23, u Thompson scored his 1,000th career point on a bucket with 3:13 left in the first half, his 14th point of what became a 16-point half for the senior forward. u Tyler Zeller finished with 16 points and five rebounds (hitting 6 of 8 field goal attempts) despite receiving two stitches to his right eyebrow after catching an elbow to the head in the second half. He later returned to the game. u Carolina shot over 50 percent in both halves, including a 58.3 percent clip in the second half and a 56.1 percent rate for the game. u GWU shot 37.7 percent overall, including 32.4 percent in the second half. u UNC hit just one three-pointer as a team, and that came by walkon Terrence Petree with 23 seconds left in the second half. u Gardner-Webb hit 15 three-pointers as a team, tying the fifth-most 3FG made by an opponent in UNC history. Flittner finished with 32 points, six assists and four steals. DISCOUNTED TICKETS FOR SUNDAY S GAME u In an effort to pay tribute to the men and women who serve our country, Carolina Athletics will offer all current and former military and emergency service personnel (police, fire, EMS, etc.) $10 tickets for the Florida Atlantic game on Veterans Day on Sunday, November 11th at 2:30 p.m. in the Dean E. Smith Center. u To purchase tickets please visit GoHeels.com. CBS NAMES McADOO, BULLOCK POTENTIAL BREAKOUT PLAYERS u CBS s Jeff Goodman named a list of the top 30 breakout players in college basketball for the season, and UNC s James Michael McAdoo (No. 1) and Reggie Bullock (No. 2) topped the list. u Of McAdoo, Goodman wrote: Had to wait his turn and admitted it was a difficult season waiting his turn behind John Henson and Tyler Zeller. Logged fewer than 16 minutes per game and averaged 6.1 points and 3.9 rebounds, but now that Henson and Zeller, along with Harrison Barnes and Kendall Marshall are gone, this is McAdoo and Reggie Bullock s team. McAdoo is certainly capable of pulling a Thomas Robinson-esque jump, going from a role guy to a star and a double-double machine. u Of Bullock, Goodman wrote: Found his shot last season after a brutal freshman campaign, but now he ll have a chance to go from the fifth option to a go-to guy along with McAdoo. Bullock is a pure shooter, a terrific defender and can also get to the basket. He averaged 8.8 points last year in about 25 minutes per game, and he could wind up doubling his scoring average with plenty more shots coming his way. IN THE PRESEASON POLLS u Carolina is ranked in both national preseason polls, grabbing the No. 11 spot in the preseason Associated Press poll and No. 12 in the preseason ESPN/USA Today Coaches rankings.
