1 PRESS RELEASE 25 th October 2016 Here is this weeks report: BEL Under 14 Girls East Conference League: Southend Swifts 69 Northamptonshire Titans 75 Q1: Q2: Q3: 8-17 Q4: NEBC Titans Under 14 Girls took on National Final Four team Southend Swifts. The girls started slow and lacked intensity however a quick reminder from Coach James that the game is no different from any other and the girls began to increase the intensity. True to form Tegan Millar - Opongntim opened the scoring opportunities and was strongly supported by Amber Martin. Southend were not able to stop the attacking duo and the first quarter finished The young Titans side were met with force in the second quarter and valuable experience was gained by the younger players. A very mature defensive performance from the youngest Titan Charly Stalker forced Swifts into several turn overs, the quarter was closely contended with a half time score of After a short break Titans were able to up their game in the third forcing Swifts to foul frequently. Titans defence remained strong and they were able to extend their lead to 18 point at the third, The fourth quarter proved more difficult as fatigue set in and were out scored Titans however showed true heart and hustle to keep their lead no more so than Imogene Williams who was seen to rip the ball from the opponents on the final three offenses. The game finished A fantastic team performance on defence was shown and the girls were praised by Coach James. Top scorers Tegan Millar-Opongntim 32, Amber Martin 27 and Lucy Virag 9. BEL Under 14 Boys Midlands II Conference League: Worcester Wolves 52 Northamptonshire Titans 75 NEBC Titans Under 14 boys posted another win on the road when they took on Worcester Wolves and, in doing so, moved to the top of the league. Titans started slowly trailing 8-2 after the first five minutes. However, some defensive adjustments slowed Wolves scoring and six of the Northamptonshire boys contributed to a 14-4 run that gave them a lead at the end of the first period. Titans remained in control through to half-time with Daniel Bello doing an excellent defensive job against Wolves captain whilst also scoring 10 of his 16 points in the quarter. As the teams came out for the second half, Titans were looking to extend their lead, but the hosts were in a determined mood. Whilst Titans added 14 to their total, Wolves netted 12 points and it was still all to play for in the final period. To ensure the win, Coach Round went strong, which proved to be a decisive move. As some of Wolves influential players began to foul out, Isaac Round was able to find his way to the basket and he added 11 points to his game-high 26 points. As the buzzer sounded, the scoreboard read in Titans favour. In addition to Round s and Bello s personal totals, Sean Rawlins and Nathan Azille also made good contributions scoring 9 points each. The Northamptonshire boys limited Wolves to just 52 points, however, their defence was the most disappointing element of their performance and, if they are to progress to the playoff phase of the season, they will need to make improvements in this area. BEL Under 16 Boys Northern Premier League: Northamptonshire Titans 99 City of Birmingham 79 Q1: Q2: Q3: Q4: NEBC Titans Under 16 Boys hosted CoB at Weavers leisure Centre and both teams having desires on play off places at the end of the season made for an enthralling encounter. Titans defence made a slow start whilst CoB made full advantage as they strolled into a 5 point lead. Captain Zach Frost converted two foul shots to settle the homeside followed by a Jude Carmichael lay-up. CoB took a time out but worked in Titans favour as Taiwo Hamilton led a 12-1 run. CoB were not to be out done as they rallied to close the first quarter The second quarter saw both team trade baskets throughout, but the turning point in the game was the third when Titans defence stepped up a gear and through Ben Nailer and Hamilton Titans continued to produce some very

effective offensive play. Titans continued to control the game to the final buzzer, these two teams meet next weekend in the 3rd round of the national cup.

Top Scorers Nailer 22, Hamilton 20, Carmichael 15, Dominique 14, Frost 10 BEL Under 16 Boys Northern Premier League: Northamptonshire Titans 71 Mansfield Giants 92 Q1: Q2: Q3: Q4: 20-8 The following day NEBC Titans Under 16 Boys were on their home court again after a convincing win against CoB, but this time faced stiffer opposition in the Giants who were on the same win/lose record and with Titans England player Sam Grant still side lined through an ankle injury Titans knew that a big performance was required. Titans did not start well, Giants fast break was hurting them right from the start which caused Coach Powell to call an early time out, but with a 4-22 score line it looked like the Giants were going to run away with it, however Jude Carmichael shooting display took the Giants by surprise and with Zach Frost battling well on the boards Titans started to claw back the deficit. In the second Carmichael was showing his class but then picked up a couple of fouls, Taiwo Hamilton on the Jump shot however in came Diarra Layne who delivered a 10 run as the Titans started to put the pressure on. The third saw a much tighter affair, Ben Nailer started to exploit the gaps in Giants defence which resulted in Giants sitting a zone defence to combat Titans offence. In the fourth Titans seem to lose their momentum from the previous quarters which enabled Giants to get their fast break game back on track resulting in a hard fought victory for the visitors. BEL Women Division Two - North: Northamptonshire Titans 64 Sheffield Hallam 62 Q1: 11-14 Q2: 14-14 Q3: 18-16 Q4: 21-18 This was NEBC Titans Senior Women's first home game of the season.

Titans lost their way a little midway through the 1st quarter as the visitors went on a 7-2 run and whilst Paige Vyse maintained the high tempo Titans finishing touch was left wanting. The combination of Vyse and Sasha Thompson caused the visitors problems and with Titans defence holding up through Mica Denton and Kenny Hamilton Titans found themselves only trailing by 3 points. In the third Ester Alake produced some high energy offensive play which gave Titans some much need motivation and along with Hannah Bird finding success from close range Titans only trailed by 1 point going into the fourth. In the final quarter Thompson opened up with a 3 point play which then ignited the visitors into a 7-2 run. Titans defence went to another level as Thompson was clinical from the foul line as well as round the hoop, with an 8 point lead and 30 seconds left on the clock Hallam late surge nearly paid off as they hit back to back 3 pointers but that just was not enough and Titans Ladies recorded their first win of the season.
