Then you should join us at our next board meeting! Board meetings are open to all AUDA members, and are held the 2 nd Wednesday of every month at the Albany Public Library (128 Henry Johnson Blvd.). If you can t make it to the meetings but still want to contribute, you can always contact the board at auda@albanyultimate.com. Summer League Recap! Thanks you everyone for another great year of summer league! Congratulations to the Ragin' Hages (Albany Competitive League) and Trophuckal Blue (Albany Summer League) on their wins at the end of the season tournament. Congrats as well to all Award winners (Emily Heath, Andrew Yale, Candace Haskell, Isaiah Casiano, Angela Weier, Noah Cohen- Greenberg, Hayley Mattice, Chuck Landon, "Dad" Zac Hilton, Andrew Preston, Annemarie Maag- Tanchak, Andrew Voerg, Kathleen Grady, Randy Bemis, Charis Thompson, Mike Eisenstein, Yvonne Marcoux, Suzanna Randall, Beth Malone, Adam Kohn, Bridget Collins). 2 Page 2 of 5 season next year! Level 1 Coaching Clinic! AUDA is planning to sponsor a Level 1 Coaching clinic for all interested. Please Pete Amorosa (peter.amorosa@albanyultimate.com) for more information. Women's Ultimate Albany Ultimate has hosted a summer Women's League since 2010, although Albany women's pickup started in Since 2010, there have been 2-4 teams each summer with rosters of 10+women. Women's League is focused on teaching and growing women's interest in the sport of Ultimate. The league provides a fun and inviting atmosphere for new players to learn about the sport and develop their skills. It also gives experienced players an opportunity to teach and expand their captaining skills and test strategic game play. Games have a very family friendly feel and often feature potluck food at the field afterward. In addition to the organized league play of Women's League, female players of all skill levels are also encouraged to play during "Women's Wednesdays," a combination of pick-up and skills clinics on Wednesdays. These clinics run from late April until league games in July and August. Pick-up continues into the fall until it is too dark to play after work. But that's not all! Women's league players have created lasting friendships through ultimate that cannot be dormant in the winter. This group has

3 Page 3 of 5 evolved into a book club, game nights, and a hiking/skiing/kayaking/climbing/camping/running adventure club. For more information about Women's Wednesdays and Women's League, please contact the women's coordinator or view our new webpage! - Deb Lee Berkshire Ultimate The 36th season of Berkshire Ultimate pickup has been great, with solid numbers and fun competitive games Sunday afternoons and Thursday evenings through the spring and summer, and continuing until we lose the light or the ground freezes. Games are at the Steiner School in Great Barrington, and typically we warm up with Goaltimate and then switch to Ultimate once we get to 12 players. This winter we will again play twice a week at The Fieldhouse in Canaan, NY (schedule TBD). More info available at berkshireultimate.com. - Jim Biancolo and Jon Bakija Albany Youth Ultimate It is an exciting time for youth ultimate in the Albany area. Good things are on the horizon. For starters, we have the youngest group of motivated athletes that we have ever had. Currently our youth programs have the strongest numbers in the age range of 13 to 15 years of age. Traditionally our programs have been filled with mostly junior and seniors who are new to the game and move on to college before they get the full grasp of the game.

4 Page 4 of 5 Now some of our young players already have a few years of experience under their belt. Because of strong demand, we have also opened up our program to middle school kids and we now have a solid population of 10, 11 and 12 year olds who love the game. This trend will allow us to compete much better at the state level. As we go into 2017 we have a bigger volunteer pool then we have ever had before. The AUDA board has prioritized the youth programs (as has USA Ultimate) and many adult players come out each week to mentor, coach and play with our newest AUDA members. It is not only players that have offered their help to the programs but parents who have never played ultimate are stepping up and getting involved in advancing our program to new heights. The most recent and possibly the most exciting development is that the Bethlehem School District has committed to dedicated field space for the club and has approved outside coaching to work with the club and compete on a local and state level. This was the result of hard work by our own Steve Rellis, Matt Wolkoff and Alicia Schultz plus a very motivated parent, Erin McKinney as well as other parents excited to get a program going for their kids. This is a big break through because now we can approach other schools in the area that have clubs and give them an opportunity to compete locally. Bethlehem hopes to run a high school tournament in the spring with both local and regional teams so now the pressure is on AUDA to help build those other local teams. We look forward to the challenge! Lastly, we have started an AUDA youth committee to advance our goals and distribute the work load. The committee plans to meet regularly and encourages anybody interested to participate.
