Boston University (2-6, 0-0 PL) vs. Massachusetts (2-6, 0-0 A-10) Listen: WTBUSportsradio.com - Joe Weil & John-Michael Sedor LIVE STATS: TODAY S GAME Playing its fifth consecutive road game, the Boston University women s basketball team will travel to Amherst, Mass., on Wednesday (Dec. 4) to take on Massachusetts. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. at the Mullins Center. LAST TIME OUT Despite junior Mollie McKendrick s first career double-double, BU fell to Old Dominion, 62-56, in the Terriers final game of the inaugural Basketball Hall of Fame Women s Challenge on Sunday afternoon at the MassMutual Center. McKendrick was named Player of the Game for the Terriers, as she matched her career-high with 14 points and pulled down a personal best 16 rebounds. Senior Rashidat Agboola was second on the team with 16 points while classmate Danielle Callahan added 10 points. BU finished the game with a 40.0 field goal percentage (22-of-55) while ODU shot 39.3 percent (22-of-56). The Terriers shot 26.3 percent from beyond the arc (5-of-19) while ODU went 6-of-13 from the 3-point line. The Lady Monarchs connected on 57.1 percent of their free throws (12-of-21) and the Terriers shot 50.0 percent (7-of-14). BU won the battle on the boards, 40-36, but committed 18 turnovers compared to 14 for ODU. THE TERRIERS The Terriers are 2-6 on the season entering their fifth consecutive road contest. Senior Danielle Callahan leads BU with 10.4 ppg while classmate Rashidat Agboola is second on the team averaging 10.1 ppg. Junior Mollie McKendrick leads BU with 7.4 rpg while Agboola is second with 7.0 rpg. BU is averaging 57.4 ppg and shooting 34.8 percent from the floor and 30.4 percent from beyond the arc. BU owns a 37.6 rpg average and is converting on 64.4 percent of its free throw opportunities. All 11 players on the Terriers roster have seen the court through the first four games of the season and nine players are averaging at least 10.0 mpg. THE MINUTEWOMEN The Minutewomen are 2-6 on the season and hope to snap a three-game losing skid on Wednesday night following their overtime loss to William & Mary on PROBABLE STARTERS Saturday. UMass earned back-to-back wins over Rutgers (64-63) and Hartford (63-59) in November for its only victories of the season. Emily Mital leads the Minutewomen with 10.1 ppg while Kim Pierre-Louis is second on the team with 9.9 ppg. Rashida Timbilla leads the team on the boards with 8.5 rpg. The Minutewomen average 62.9 ppg and are shooting 39.2 percent from the field with a 27.7 percent clip from the 3-point line. The team averages 37.4 rpg. Sharon Dawley is in her fourth season leading UMass after spending seven seasons at former America East foe Vermont. THE SERIES The Terriers hold a slim edge in the all-time series with the Minutewomen after defeating UMass, 73-50, on Dec. 5, 2012 at Case Gym. This will be the 26th overall meeting between the intrastate foes and the sixth straight season that they will battle on the hardwood. The Terriers are 3-6 when facing the Minutewomen on the road and fell to UMass, 55-49, the last time they visited the Mullins Center during the season. BU is 4-2 against UMass under head coach Kelly Greenberg and will look to win back-to-back games against the Minutewomen for the first time since accomplishing the feat in the and seasons. UP NEXT BU will take a week off then continue its road-swing when the Terriers make the short trip to Chestnut Hill, Mass., to play Boston College on Wednesday (Dec. 11). Game time is set for NEW ERA BU officially joined the Patriot League on July 1, 2013, and moved 20 of its 25 sports, including women s basketball, into its new conference. The Terriers were previously a member of the America East Conference from 1984 to The league identified itself as the Seaboard Conference from 1984 to 1989 and then as the North Atlantic Conference from 1990 to 1996 before adopting the America East moniker. PATRIOT LEAGUE NETWORK This past summer, the Patriot League announced the creation of the Patriot League Network. For the first time in BU history, fans can watch all of the home basketball games (and conference road games) not being televised on the CBS Sports Network for free anywhere around the world on a computer or mobile device by going to ROAD WARRIORS Starting on Nov. 22, nine of BU s next 10 games will take place on the road. The Terriers will play six straight games away from Case GYm from Nov. 22 to Dec. 11. After the four games as part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Women s Challenge, BU will play at intrastate rivals Massachusetts (Dec. 4) and Boston College (Dec. 11). The Terriers will return home on Dec. 14 to host Marist before closing out 2013 on the road at New Hampshire (Dec. 22) and at Vermont (Dec. 29). TOUGH COMPETITION Highlighted by a game against the 2013 NCAA national champion (Connecticut) and the first-ever Basketball Hall of Fame Women s Challenge, the Terrier will play 31 games with 13 contests taking place in Case Gym. In addition to facing Connecticut, a team that captured its eighth national championship last season, BU will face two other teams that earned a spot in the 2013 NCAA tournament (Marist and Navy). The Terriers will also battle three teams that played in the 2013 Women s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), including Army, Harvard and Old Dominion. BU VS. RANKED OPPONENTS No. 1 UConn was the first ranked opponent that the Terriers will face this season. Last year BU posted a 1-1 record against top 25 squads. BU was edged by No.14/22 West Virginia, on Nov. 12, 2012 before defeating No. 17/15 St. John s, 66-49, on Dec. 1. Both games were played at Case Gym. No. 17/15 St. John s was the highest ranked opponent the Terriers have defeated in program history. BU s only other win over a ranked team was a defeat of No. 24 Vermont on Jan. 18, Both of BU s victories over ranked teams occurred in Case Gym. The Huskies are the highest-ranked opponent that the Terriers have faced since battling No. 3 Duke on Dec. 30, The Blue Devils prevailed, Under head coach Kelly Greenberg, BU is 2-10 when facing ranked opponents. BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME CHALLENGE BU participated in the first-ever Basketball Hall of Fame Women s Challenge which featured eight teams that played four games each during the span of 10 days. The Terriers participated in the inaugural tournament along with Bowling Green, Connecticut, Marist, Monmouth, Ohio State, Old Dominion and St. Bonaventure. The tournament was broken down into two campus round pools hosted by UConn and Ohio State from Friday, Nov. 22 to Sunday, Nov. 24. The Terriers played in the UConn campus pool and fell to No. 1 UConn on Friday (96-38) before being edged by St. Bonaventure on Saturday (65-64). BU defeated Monmouth on Sunday (52-43). On Sunday, Dec. 1, all eight teams traveled to the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass., for a quadruple header of women s basketball. The Terriers fell to Old Dominion, STEPPING UP TO THE CHALLENGE With two of the top three scorers from a season ago gone, several Terriers have stepped up to the challenge to lead the team. Senior Danielle Callahan opened the season with a career-high 27-point performance, including five-made 3-pointers, in BU s loss to Northeastern on Nov. 8. Junior Mollie McKendrick led BU with a careerhigh 14 points at Harvard on Nov. 13,, while sophomore Katie Poppe set career highs in points (8) and rebounds (11) against the Crimson. Senior Melissa Gallo netted a career-best 12 points off of four made 3-pointers against Yale on Nov. 19 Sophomore Clodagh Scannell sank a career-best three 3-pointers for a career-high nine points at No. 1 Connecticut. Freshman Sarah Hope went 5-of-6 from beyond the arc to lead BU with 15 points against St. Bonaventure. SHARING THE WEALTH Through the first seven games of the season, six different Terriers have served as the leading scoring for BU. Senior Danielle Callahan s career-high 27 points in the season opener at Northeastern were a teamhigh while her 13 points against Yale tied for the lead with classmate Rashidat Agboola. Senior Whitney Turner and junior Mollie McKendrick tied for the team lead with 14 points at Harvard while McKendrick has also led BU in scoring against Rhode Island (12) and Monmouth (14). Sophomore Clodagh Scannell scored a career-high nine points at No. 1 UConn while freshman Sarah Hope netted a career-best 15 points against St. Bonaventure. TRIO OF LEADERS Seniors Rashidat Agboola, Danielle Callahan and Whitney Turner will serve as the Terriers tricaptains this season. Agboola and Callahan are serving as team captains for the second straight season. IN THE CONFINES OF CASE BU posted a 12-2 record when playing on its home court last season and is at home under head coach Kelly Greenberg. In the past nine years, the Terriers own a record in home conference games and twice went undefeated in league play on their home court ( and ). ACCOLADES FOR AGBOOLA Senior Rashidat Agboola enters her final season as a Patriot League preseason All-League honoree. Agboola earned America East All-Conference First Team and All-Defensive Team honors in after earning Third Team honors in 2012 and All- Rookie honors in FRESH FACES BU welcomes a trio of newcomers from the New England area to the squad in Meghan Green (Bedford, N.H.), Sarah Hope (Medway, Mass.) and Courtney Latham (Glastonbury, Conn.) comprise BU s class of Hope and Latham join the BU backcourt while Green is a post player. All three scored over 1,000 points during their high school careers.

3 PRESEASON PROJECTIONS Following its second straight postseason appearance, BU was selected to finish third in its inaugural season in the Patriot League. The poll was voted on by all 10 league head coaches and sports information directors. The Terriers received three first-place votes and 128 points to come in third in the poll. Navy, winner of the last three Patriot League tournament championships, was chosen as the preseason favorite with 14 first-place votes and 157 points while Army, the 2013 PL regular season champion, earned three first-place votes and 133 points to finish in second place. Holy Cross came in fourth with 112 points followed by Lehigh (97), American (87), Bucknell (62), Loyola Maryland (54) and Lafayette (37). Colgate rounded out the 10-team poll with 33 points. THE GREENBERG FILE Head coach Kelly Greenberg is in her 10th season leading the Terriers. Greenberg owns a (.608) overall record at BU and a (.609) career record in her 15 years as a head coach. Greenberg has led the Terriers to four postseason appearances in the last five years and at least 15 victories in each of her nine seasons at the helm. She has coached two America East Player of the Year winners, including three-time recipient Chantell Alford. Greenberg was inducted in to Philadelphia s Big 5 Hall of Fame in February 2012, honoring her time spent as a standout player at La Salle and her five years as a head coach at the University of Pennsylvania. 250 AND COUNTING Head coach Kelly Greenberg recorded her 250th career victory on Jan. 26, 2013, with BU s win at UMBC. Greenberg is in her 15th season as a head coach and spent five seasons as the head coach at UPenn before coming to BU. She now owns a career record of Greenberg owns a record in the past nine season with the Terriers and recorded her 150th victory at BU in the Terriers win over Boston College in last year s season opener on Nov. 9, WHAT S MISSING? When the Terriers take the floor for the season, they will be without some familiar faces, as four-year starters Chantell Alford and Mo Moran graduated in May Alford finished her career ranked third all-time in program history with 1,803 points while her career average of 14.7 ppg was fourth all-time. She also owns the school record with 244 career 3-pointers. Moran was BU s starting point guard for all four years of her career and ranks seventh all-time with 1,338 points. Her 4,496 minutes played are the most in school history while she also holds the program record for most assists with 558. Alford (16.4 ppg), Moran (10.1 ppg) and fellow 2013 graduate Kristen Sims (7.4 ppg) started every game for the Terriers last season and accounted for 54.8 percent (33.9 ppg) of BU s offensive production a season ago. BU IN THE POSTSEASON For the second consecutive season, and fourth time in the past five years, the Terriers earned a bid to the 2013 Women s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). Overall, the Terriers have made five trips to the postseason in program history, with their lone NCA tournament appearance occurring in BU is 2-4 in the WNIT, winning its first round games in 2010 and The Terriers defeated Central Connecticut State, 79-60, in the first round in 2010 and then defeated Sacred Heart, 61-49, on March 21, Both victories took place in Case Gym. 3-POINT STREAK The Terriers have successfully hit at least one 3-point attempt in each of the past 323 games, a streak that spans over nine seasons. The last time BU went a game without hitting a trey was on Feb. 8, 2003 against Binghamton. CLIMBING THE RANKS Senior Rashidat Agboola boasts 681 career rebounds to crack the top 10 all-time at BU. Her career average of 6.9 rebounds per game currently ranks sixth all-time. Agboola also boasts a.463 career field goal percentage which is tied for seventh in program history. Agboola has recorded 111 blocked shots, which is fifth in BU history. Classmate Whitney Turner has 87 career blocks, which is tied for 10th in program history. BLOCK PARTY The Terriers set a program record with 154 blocked shots during the season. Current seniors Rashidat Agboola (46) and Whitney Turner (45) were the team leaders in the blocked shots category. POURING IN THE POINTS The Terriers have had at least one player reach double digits in points scored in 120 of their last 122 games. CONERENCE HONORS In their final season in the America East, the Terriers earned three All-Conference First Team honors at the conclusion of the season. Chantell Alford ( 13), Mo Moran ( 13) and current senior Rashidat Agboola all earned first team honors. Agboola was also named to the All-Defensive Team for the second consecutive season. Chantell Alford became the first player in America East history to win three America East Player of the Year awards and was a four-time All- Conference First Team selection during her storied four year career RECAP In its last season as a member of the America East, the Terriers posted a 24-6 overall record and a 13-2 mark in conference play to finish second in the regular-season standings. Banned from participating in the America East Tournament due to the move to the Patriot League, the Terriers earned a bid to the Women s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) for the second straight season and advanced to the second round. Four of BU s six losses last season were against teams that advanced to the NCAA tournament (West Virginia, Michigan, Albany). BU boasted one of the best scoring defenses in the country, allowing opponents to score 51.6 points per game, which ranked in the top 15 in all of Division I. The Terriers defeated No. 17/15 St. John s, 66-49, at home on Dec. 1, 2012, which was the highest ranked opponent that BU has defeated in program history. BU boasted a 13-game winning streak that spanned from Nov. 29, 2012 to Jan. 23, It was the third longest winning streak in all of Division I at the time. TOPPING 20 The Terriers have recorded 20-plus wins in each of the last two seasons, by going 23-9 in and 24-6 in It was the second time in school history that BU posted back-to-back 20 win seasons, as the Terriers finished with a record and the squad went BU has posted at least 20 wins in five seasons. The Terriers have accomplished the feat four times under head coach Kelly Greenberg. WINNING STREAKS In each of the last two seasons, the Terriers have put together 13-game winning streaks, which are the second longest streaks in program history.
