D-Fence The Stony Brook defense was the difference from the outset on Monday night, holding the Hawks to 10 points or less in all four quarters. Outside of Darby Lee, who shot 6-14 and finished with 14 points, the rest of the Hawks went a combined 6-37 (16.%) with 1 points. Stony Brook s previous seasonhigh was six at Columbia.

5 Don t Call it a Comeback The Seawolves have staged second half comebacks of nine points or more in three of their last four wins. On Wednesday, they stormed back from a 13-point deficit, reeling off a 16-0 run during the third quarter. Stony Brook is 3-3 this season when trailing at halftime. UMBC Notes Wingate named AE Rookie of the Week Freshman Davion Wingate (Atlanta, Ga.) was named the Under Armour America East Rookie of the Week on Moday, marking the eighth straight week in which a Stony Brook player has won the award. Steady Snow Forward Brittany Snow (Shamong, N.J.) has been the model of consistency in her senior season, scoring in double figures in all 15 contests and has notched double figures in 57 of 108 career games (5.7%). Manner Goes Mad Elizabeth Manner played a key role in Stony Brook s victory at UMass Lowell, scoring a career-high 1 points off the Stony Brook bench on 6-of-8 shooting. After Stony Brook was held to four first quarter points, Manner sparked Stony Brook to 5 second quarter points, scoring eight of her 1 in the period and sending the Seawolves into halftime with the lead. UMass Lowell Notes Comeback Kids Stony Brook s last two wins have been the result of furious second-half rallies. The Seawolves came from nine points down in the second half vs. Harvard to pull out a one-point victory, then erased a 16-point second half deficit to defeat Binghamton in their conference opener. They have outscored their opponents in the second half in four of their last five games and are +35 in the second halves of games for the season. Wingate s a Winner With their back s against the wall in their last two games, the Seawolves have relied on freshman Davion Wingate (Atlanta, Ga.) to lead their comeback charges. Wingate hit the game-winning free throw with 3.5 seconds remaining to lift the Seawolves over Harvard on Dec. 30, then scored 11 of her career-high 19 points in the fourth quarter vs. Binghamton to fuel the comeback. She is averaging 16.0 ppg over her last four games. Tough D Caroline McCombs troops have ratcheted up the defense since the start of December. In their first six games, the Seawolves defense yielded 70 points four times. They haven t allowed a 70-point game since, a span of eight games, and have only allowed 60 or more points in four. Binghamton Notes Down But Not Out The nine-point third quarter deficit the Seawolves faced vs. Harvard was the largest deficit they have faced at any point this season in a game they have won. The Seawolves closed the quarter on a 1-3 run to tie the game at after three quarters. The Crimson held a 63-6 lead with :4 to play, making it the second game the Seawolves have won in which they trailed in the fourth quarter. The first was vs. Iona in their season opener. She had her most efficient game to date, going 5-for-6 from the field and 3-for-3 from three-point range. Team Rebounding Anyagaligbo s 19 rebounds vs Wagner were the most by a Seawolf since Dana Ferraro had 3 vs. Boston University in 006, but she wasn t the only one battling on the boards. It was the first time this season that Stony Brook had three players reach double-digits in rebounding in the same game. The Seawolves outrebounded the Seahawks 59-9 for the game, the first time they have gone over 50 rebounds since they had 54 at Morgan State on Dec. 13, 014.
