The game will be MSU s 14th WNIT game in its history, but the first away from Springfield, as the Lady Bears boast a 10-3 record in the event. Missouri State and Oklahoma State met in Stillwater on Dec. 8 of this season with the Cowgirls winning Jasmine Malone score 1 points and hit seven three-pointers for the Lady Bears, though the team shot just 30 percent from the floor compared to 50 percent for OSU. MSU s run through the first two rounds of the WNIT includes wins over UMKC and Memphis in which the Lady Bears averaged 81.5 points per game on 50 percent shooting. Malone enters this game with 993 career points and could become the fourth active Lady Bear to reach 1,000. No other MSU team has had more than two active 1,000-point scorers on its roster. Prior to Dec. 8, the teams last met in 000 with the Lady Bears claiming a victory in Springfield during their most recent Final Four season. A year earlier, OSU won in Stillwater. Scouting Oklahoma State Oklahoma State is 18-1 overall and finished in a three-way tie for sixth place in the Big 1 at The Cowgirls are 14-3 at home with losses to NCAA Tournament teams Baylor, Kansas and Kansas State. The Cowgirls have three double-figure scorers, led by Tiffany Bias with 1.8 points and 6.5 assists per game, Big 1 Freshman of the Year Liz Donohoe at 1. points and 7. rebounds, and Toni Young at 10.7 points and 6.9 boards. As a team, OSU averages 65. points and allows 58.7 while shooting 39.1 percent overall, 30 percent on three-pointers and 69.5 percent from the foul line. The Cowgirls allow opponents to shoot just 34.9 percent on the season. Community College from WNIT History The Lady Bears are making their fifth appearance in the tournament with an all-time record of 10-3 in the event. MSU dropped an overtime decision to Eastern Kentucky in the opening round of the 00 meet, then swept the WNIT field with five straight victories in 005 to claim their first national tournament title. In 010, the Lady Bears knocked off Oral Roberts and Samford before falling to Illinois in the third round at JQH Arena, and defeated Rice before falling to Arkansas in the second round last year. Missouri State owns wins over UMKC and Memphis in 01. About the WNIT The 64-team, single-elimination WNIT will consist of 31 automatic berths and 33 at-large selections, with all games played at host school sites. An automatic bid was offered to each established Division I conference to the team that finished highest during the regular season and did not receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament. The 33 at-large bids were filled by the top remaining teams available, as decided by a series of factors. All Division I teams with overall records of.500 or better are considered for the at-large berths. Dates for the 01 WNIT include first-round games on March second-round contests on March 17-19, third-round match-ups on March 1-3, quarterfinal games on March 4-6, semifinal pairings on March 8-9, and the championship game on March 31. Missouri State has only one loss this season to a team that did not advance to a postseason tournament (Jan. 19 at Southern Illinois). Since the SIU loss, the Lady Bears are 14-. Casey Garrison scored her,000th career point January 5 against Creighton and ranks second in Missouri State and third in MVC history in scoring with,63. She passed Illinois State s Kristi Cirone for third place on the MVC list Feb. 10 against Wichita State. Garrison also ranks among the nation s active career leaders in two statistical categories. Through March 19, the senior was fourth in scoring and her 118 double-figure scoring games ranked third, trailing leader Shenise Johnson of Miami (Fla.) at 11. Her 18 consecutive starts ranked third before ending March 15. Head Coach Nyla Milleson Nyla Milleson (Kansas State, 85) is in her fifth season as the head coach at Missouri State with a mark as the Lady Bears mentor and an overall record of in 1 years as a collegiate head coach. Prior to taking the reins of the MSU program, the Goodland, Kan., native guided Drury University to a record in seven seasons, highlighted by a national runner-up finish in In all, the Lady Panthers made five NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, advancing to the Sweet 16 in three of those years. Milleson was honored as Heartland Conference Coach of the Year three times, as Drury won six conference titles in all. Last Time Out The Missouri State Lady Bears (4-8) shot 10-for-0 from three-point land for their highest total since Dec. 0 in an 8-65 win over Memphis (5-8) Saturday evening in the second round of the Women s National Invitation Tournament at JQH Arena. The Lady Bears closed the first half on a 7-0 run to lead 3-5 after six ties and four lead changes. Missouri State led 7-1 just over three minutes in thanks to an 0-for-6 start for Memphis, and kept the six-point lead to 1-6 with 11:48 remaining before the Tigers fought back for a 14-all tie less than two minutes later. Memphis gained its largest advantage of the period at before committing a flagrant foul that resulted in two Jasmine Malone free throws followed by a Jaleshia Roberson three-pointer at the 5:54 mark for a -19 MSU advantage. The Tigers tied at, 4 and 5, but didn t score in the final 3:11 while the Lady Bears ran 7-0, the last five points coming from Malone. The second half was a completely different story for the Lady Bears as they shot 53.1 percent overall and 58.3 percent from three-point land while pushing the lead up to 5 points. As the half began, Bry Snow and Karly Buer scored for MSU to extend the run to 11-0 as the Memphis scoreless drought reached 5 minutes and 43 seconds before the Tigers made a jumper at the 17:8 mark to make it Buer drained a three-pointer off an offensive rebound to put the Lady Bears up 1 at 41-9 with 15:5 to play, and Malone followed with another with 15:07 left to extend the lead to Buer then banked in a jumper and Roberson converted a three-point play as the Lady Bears completed an 11-0 run in just :7 of game time to lead Memphis cut the MSU lead to 15 points on two occasions before the Lady Bears Game 33 at Oklahoma State - WNIT Third Round - Mar., 01 3

Aly Stock followed with a jumper for a 5-point lead, and the Tigers got no closer than 15 the rest of the way. Twelve players scored and 11 grabbed a rebound for the Lady Bears, led by Malone s 0 points on 5-for-10 shooting. Buer added 16 and Roberson scored 14, while Christiana Shorter had eight points and eight rebounds. The Lady Bears shot 45.3 percent for the game and held a 49-4 rebounding edge. Memphis made just 37.3 percent of its shots from the field, including 3-for-17 on threes and 1-for-30 at the free throw line. Conference USA Player of the Year Jasmine Lee had 16 points and 13 rebounds for Memphis, while Nicole Dickson threatened a triple-double with 9 points, nine rebounds and eight steals. MVC Champs Missouri State secured its ninth Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title since the on Feb. 6 with a road victory at Illinois State and claimed the title outright March 1 by beating UNI at home. The ISU win also put the Lady Bears at the 0-win mark for the third consecutive season. Millennium Club The Lady Bears have three active players among the school s all-time 1,000-point scorers, with the potential for one more this season. The squad is the first in school history to have more than two active 1,000-point scorers. There have been nine previous teams with two 1,000-point scorers on the roster. Casey Garrison (nd -,63) reached the,000-point mark on Jan. 5, while Jaleshia Roberson (15th - 1,301) hit 1,000 on Nov. 6 of this season at Oral Roberts and Christiana Shorter (17th - 1,193) did it Jan. 14 at Wichita State. Senior Jasmine Malone (3rd - 993) also has a shot at 1,000 by the end of the season. Hitting the Century Mark Missouri State scored 104 points in its Dec. 18 win over Morgan State, the first time since March 8, 003, that the Lady Bears have scored at least 100 points in a game. MSU has scored 100 points now 16 times in its history, with 104 tying for the No. 9 total. Missouri State s 64 first-half points served as a JQH Arena record and are two points shy of what is believed to be the school record for points in a half as MSU scored 66 against Davidson in Players of the Week Jaleshia Roberson became Missouri State s first MVC Player of the Week Jan. 9 after averaging 3.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in wins over Creighton and Drake. Roberson s 47 points came on just 0 field goal attempts as she shot 14-0 overall, from three and 9-10 from the foul line. Karly Buer won the award Feb. 6 following averages of 17.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in wins at Drake and Creighton. The sophomore poured in 0 points at CU to extend her streak of double figure scoring games to six in a row. Casey Garrison won the award for the 13th time in her career on Feb. 0 after averages of 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals in wins over Evansville and Southern Illinois. She shot exclusively with her left hand to make 61 percent from the floor. All-Conference Lady Bears Casey Garrison earned her fourth consecutive first-team all-mvc nod this season, one of six players in league history to do that, and was joined by Christiana Shorter, who made the second team, as all-mvc Lady Bears. Also a second-teamer in 010, Shorter made the all-defensive Team this season as well. Boshe Named Academic All-American Lacey Boshe made the Capitol One Academic All-America Second Team and is the first Lady Bear since Sarah Klaassen in 006 to earn that distinction. In total, six Lady Bears have made a total of nine Academic All-America squads. Boshe boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA with a double major in cell and molecular biology and Spanish. MVC Scholar-Athletes Lacey Boshe was also named the Prairie Farms MVC Women s Basketball Scholar- Athlete of the Year, which included a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team. Missouri State has won at least a share of 13 regular-season titles and nine conference tournaments since the season. MSU has played in 11 of the 19 Valley tournament championship games and 13 of the 6 title games since the inception of the Gateway Conference Tournament in Missouri State All-Time Missouri State is in its 43rd season of women s collegiate basketball and has an alltime record of (.595). Challenging Start Missouri State opened the season against three schools that made the NCAA Tournament in 011. Louisiana Tech (8), Louisville (6) and Kansas State (46) also finished last year with RPIs of 46 or better. Missouri State s fourth and fifth opponents, Oral Roberts and Arkansas-Little Rock, made the WNIT and NCAA fields, respectively, last season, and ETSU was MSU s first opponent this season that did not play in the postseason a year ago. A Dec. 8 trip to Oklahoma State made it six 011 postseason squads in its MSU s seven games. MSU s first seven games were also against teams that had winning records in , and the Lady Bears closed last season with three such games to begin what turned out to be a 10-game streak against winning teams from last season. Bear Hugs for Joplin On Nov. 5, Missouri State s men s and women s basketball teams played an exhibition doubleheader at Missouri Southern in Joplin to conclude a full day of service, support and relief efforts in the ongoing recovery effort for the community that was devastated by a May tornado. Fandemonium With the conclusion of their first three seasons in JQH Arena, the Lady Bears extended a streak that dates back more than 0 years. Missouri State drew 61,791 spectators in 18 home dates in for an average of 3,433 fans per game. MSU s total attendance ranked second in the MVC, ending a streak fo 1 consecutive seasons leading the league, and the Lady Bears outdrew 11 AP Top 5 teams, as well as regional foes Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma State and Iowa in per-game attendance. Since the season, Missouri State has ranked in the top 0 nationally in average attendance 19 times, including a string of 10 straight top-10 finishes from 199 through the season. The Lady Bears led all of Division I women s basketball in attendance during the season by averaging 7,41 fans per contest. Over the last two decades, MSU is fourth among all Division I women s programs in average attendance, trailing only Tennessee, Connecticut and Texas Tech. Additionally, the Lady Bears have finished in the top 50 nationally in per game attendance for 5 straight years.
