Game #19 Colgate (10-8, 2-4) Travels To Binghamton For Final Non-Conference Game Of Season THE MATCHUP The Colgate University basketball team (10-8 overall, 2-4 Patriot League) will take a break from its Patriot League schedule, when the Raiders travel to Binghamton University (7-12, America East 4-5) for its final non-conference game of the season. Tip-off is 7:00 p.m. at West Gymnasium. The Raiders snapped a two-game losing streak on Saturday with an impressive road win over Lafayette College, Senior Pat Campolieta led Colgate with 18 points and five rebounds, while Mark Linebaugh netted 14 points and Tim Sullivan added 12. Binghamton, playing its first season in the America East conference, dropped its last outing, losing at home to conference rival Boston University, Junior forward Jeffrey St. Fort led the Bearcats with 11 points and eight rebounds. This is the fourth meeting between Colgate and Binghamton. The Raiders have won the previous three contests, including a dramatic win last year at Cotterell Court on Linebaugh s 3-point basket at the buzzer. Campolieta, the first player in school history to rank in the Top 10 in career scoring (1,488), rebounding (623), assists (212) and steals (175), continues to lead Colgate in scoring and rebounding. He is averaging 15.8 points per game and 7.1 caroms per outing, which is good for third place in the Patriot League in both categories. Campolieta comes into the game needing 24 points for fifth place on Colgate s all-time scoring list and nine rebounds for ninth place. Linebaugh is second in scoring with 11.7 points per game, while Howard Blue is third with 11.2 points per game. Sullivan is averaging 9.8 ppg and Dave Hardy 8.5 ppg. St. Fort leads Binghamton in scoring with 11.9 points per game, followed by Jeffrey Daws and Mike Wright with 8.2 points per game apiece. 2 THE SERIES This is the fourth meeting between Colgate and Binghamton. The Raiders have won the previous three contests, including a dramatic win last year at Cotterell Court on Linebaugh s 3-point basket at the buzzer. LAST TIME VS. BINGHAMTON (Hamilton, N.Y. - Dec. 2, 2000) - Freshman Mark Linebaugh's 3-point basket at the buzzer lifted Colgate to a come-from-behind win over Binghamton at Cotterell Court. The Raiders trailed with seven seconds left but Linebaugh bounced the ball out of bounds for a turnover. On the ensuing inbounds pass, Colgate's Marques Green fouled Joost Ooms sending him to the line for two free throws with six seconds remaining. He missed both shots with the second miss rebounded by Howard Blue, who fired a pass to Linebaugh. Linebaugh dribbled over mid-court and let a long jumper go for the winning basket. Pat Campolieta led Colgate with his sixth career double-double scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Dave Hardy finished with nine points and Linebaugh added eight. Howard Blue added eight points and a career-high seven rebounds. Mike Wright paced Binghamton with 13 points and Andre Hankey with 10, while Ooms finished with 10 rebounds. COLGATE S LAST OUTING (Easton, PA - Jan. 26, 2002) - Senior forward Pat Campolieta scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead Colgate to a win over Lafayette in a Patriot League game at the Kirby Sports Center. Colgate held a two-point advantage with three seconds left, before icing the contest on a pair of free throws by Dave Hardy with his only two points of the contest. Also in double figures for the Raiders was Mark Linebaugh with 14 points, while Tim Sullivan netted 12 points, and Howard Blue added eight points and seven rebounds. Brian Burke led Lafayette with a career-high 28 points followed by Mike Farrell with 13 points, and Justin DeBerry and Andrew Pleick with 10 apiece. Colgate opened the contest with a seven-point run behind Blue s opening bucket and five straight points from Campolieta. Campolieta scored 17 of the Raiders first 21 points including 13 straight after Blue s opening basket. Lafayette came back to tie the contest on Burke s 3-pointer. The Leopards moved in front by three points, 26-23, before Colgate s Keith Williams tied the contest at halftime with a 3-pointer at the buzzer. In the second half, Colgate scored the first four points before Lafayette came back to lead with 15:38 remaining. The Raiders responded with eight straight points on back-to-back 3-pointers by Linebaugh and Bill Kern s lay-up, and never looked back.
