Casteel Football 12 Month Development Program Football Academy Success is uncommon and not to be enjoyed by the common man. I m looking for uncommon people because we want to be successful, not average. Tony Dungy Mission To overtly develop leadership, discipline, and a community based program that fosters a competitive environment and provides all players with the opportunity to succeed in the following areas: Academic Achievement that meets or exceeds all NCAA Standards Character Development standards that enables our student-athletes to become future leaders in society / Character Matters Curriculum Mental Discipline behaviors that will proved the tools necessary for our student athletes to gain a competitive advantage in the classroom and on the field Team First Mentality that fosters a culture of unselfishness and allows the student-athlete to recognize and support the needs of others Physical Development and athletic tools necessary to successfully compete against the highest level of opposition

Casteel Offensive Philosophy Statement Respect the Football Control the tempo Be the aggressor Block Execute the fundamentals of offense Put players in a position to succeed Create mismatches systematically pre & post snap Reaction/Situation React appropriately to unfamiliar and/or uncomfortable situations Coaches and players understand situational offense Identity RPO Option-style attack built upon a concept based passing system combined with multiple tempos, formations, motions and shifts Utilize personnel strengths and create opportunities for our best play making threats Dictate defensive alignments and prevent easy recognition of our intentions. Force comprehensive preparation by our opponents for our attack Our system will be multi-dimensional, built on run/pass concepts that can be applied to our varied personnel groupings, multiple alignments/formations/motions/shifts Be proactive in our specific plan of attack, striving for balance, with components complementary in nature. Our versatility will allow us to be reactionary when necessary We will attempt to create as many offensive opportunities as possible by playing at an up-tempo. Emphasis will be placed on developing sound fundamentals and precise execution Players NOT Plays

Casteel Defensive Philosophy Statement Commit to the Football 8 Seconds of Effort Physical, hard-nosed, attacking defense. Use your speed and effort to discourage your opponent 11 men to the ball and get the ball back pursuit Create turnovers and 3 and outs MAKE PLAYS Relentless in your face pressure-get off on the snap on every play Execute Discipline-Do your job within the scheme and then make plays Be accountable Force the opposing team to make mistakes...bend BUT DON T BREAK Make the opposing team 1 dimensional Tackle Force it outside and run it down Leverage the football Force the opponent to throw by stopping the run Fundamental Enjoy the game-enthusiasm breeds enthusiasm-celebrate together Defensive Goals Win At least a 90% Assignment Percentage At least a 95% Pursuit Percentage At least a 90% Tackling Percentage No Run over 15 yards No Pass over 25 yards Force 1 Turnover per 18 plays Allow less than 1.5 points per possession Make at least 8 tackles for loss (including sacks) 3 and out 40% of the time 40% disruption rate Give offense field position inside 50 three times 75% red zone success No TD after sudden change Win 3 rd Down 2+ yards 50% of the time Score on Defense No Foolish Penalties

Casteel Football Mission Statement Through the guidance, teaching and modeling of sound fundamentals, principles and actions, all athletes will succeed in the classroom, on the field and in the community. In order to be a successful athlete on the field, one must first be a successful student in the classroom. The Casteel High School Football program and coaching staff exist for the facilitation and cultivation of: Trust among ALL stakeholders Respect for ALL Attitude is the one thing we can control Accountability is demanded from our coaches down to our players Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality Integrity is consistency of actions and moral values Measurement of Daily Core Values Oath: I will HUSTLE, I will KNOW what to do, I will display COURAGE, I will CARE about my teammates, I play for CASTEEL Core Values: HUSTLE SMART COURAGE CARE LOYALTY Guiding Beliefs The program exists for the athletes Adversity reveals character Perform at the highest level, all the time Winners say I will, Losers say I didn t because Team attitude is the one thing we can control Do it right Always protect the team Cultivate tradition WIN EVERY PLAY BE ALL IN Promote the Program and the School Close working relationships with media (stats, interviews, pictures, video, social media, etc ) Media guides, programs, networking with media and Universities/Colleges Active in the community (visible) Youth Camps (players work) Clinics involving the entire staff for coaches and/or players Fundraising and Sponsorships (banners/scoreboard) Speaking appearances at banquets, youth ceremonies/camps/clinics Actively work with recruiters to get our players to the highest level their individual abilities allow both on the field and in the classroom

Casteel Football Level Philosophy Freshmen Squad: At this entry level (into the high school game), success is predicated by a player / team acquiring a work ethic, an understanding of commitment, football fundamentals, and a passion for the game. A freshmen player must experience growth in the mental and physical aspects of the program. A general understanding of the basic offensive and defensive packages is expected. Playing time is not guaranteed but is a top priority for freshmen athletes that demonstrate the ability to be successful on the field and in the classroom. As a staff, we have a full understanding that a freshmen football player that isn t a starter his freshmen year CAN develop and mature into a starter by the time he is a sophomore, junior or senior in the program (patience/consistency/work ethic). Junior Varsity Squad: The JV team is expected to achieve more wins than losses at the end of a season. True success is achieved when the JV squad is seen as an extension of the varsity squad. A member of the JV squad must possess a strong understanding of the offensive and defensive schemes within their respective position group. It is not guaranteed that every player that dresses for a game will get to see playing time in that game. There is the possibility of a JV player that dresses for both the JV and Varsity games. An emphasis on development through practicing with the Varsity squad is the top priority. Varsity Squad: As Head Coach of the program, there is a clear understanding and acceptance of the many obligations that exist for the young men within the program. As noted in our mission: academics, athletics and citizenship are equally important. It is also understood an accepted that winning must accompany the aforementioned obligations. The coaching staff believes in the concept of team unity. All decisions are made on the basis of what is best for the Team s chances for success. Each position coach is empowered with control over his respective position. The demands on a varsity football athlete are great. Despite a challenging week of practice, there is no guarantee of seeing the field on Friday night. Those players what have demonstrated their commitment to, knowledge of and acceptance of our game plan will be put in a position to help our team achieve success. The overall objective of the Casteel Varsity Football Program is to win on Friday night and compete for a State Championship. Mission: (Contribution from ALL LEVELS) Win State
