LAST TIME OUT The Demon Deacons suffered their first defeat of the season, falling to Georgia State in overtime, 2-1. It snapped a 17-game unbeaten streak at Spry Stadium dating back to the 2016 season-opener. The game was tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation thanks to a penalty kick on each side. Luis Argudo executed for the Deacs for his fifth goal of the past three games. Wake Forest had a 20-8 advantage in shots, but the Panthers found the game-winner less than 90 seconds into overtime. WAKE FOREST STORYLINES The Demon Deacons have one of the most prolific offenses in the nation to date this season. Wake Forest ranks third in the nation with 14 goals, leads the country with 18 assists and ranks second with 46 points. Last year, it took the Deacs 10 games to reach 13 goals, compared to just three this season. Three Demon Deacons have already totaled at least nine points after only four did so all last year: Luis Argudo (11 pts - 5g, 1a), Jon Bakero (10 pts - 3g, 4a), and Brandon Servania (9 pts - 2g, 5a). Each of them ranks in the top 15 nationally in points - Argudo is tihrd, Bakero sixth and Servania 15th. A senior in 2017, Argudo has discovered a new scoring touch in his final season, scoring five goals in the last three games. He entered the season with two total goals in his first three years - one as a freshman with Elon and one at Wake Forest last year. The Deacs are in the last 10 ACC-openers, with the last loss coming to No. 6 Duke in OPPONENT AND SERIES HISTORY Wake Forest and Louisville are meeting for the ninth time in program history, with each of those meetings coming since The Demon Deacons lead the series, 6-2, and have won five straight since a 2012 loss. The teams have met just twice in Louisville though, with the Cardinals claiming a 3-2 double-overtime win in 2012 and the Deacs winning, 4-2, in Each of the last three meetings have been 2-1 scores in favor of the Deacs - two in overtime. McMaster also spent time with the Jamaican Youth National Teams, as has Joey DeZart SUMMARY The Demon Deacons finished the 2016 season as the national runners-up, falling to Stanford in penalty kicks of the championship game, 5-4, after playing to a scoreless draw through 110 minutes of action. Wake Forest defeated Coastal Carolina, SIUE, Virginia Tech and Denver in the NCAA Tournament en route to the College Cup final. Wake Forest finished the season with a overall record. STEERING THE SHIP Head coach Bobby Muuss got off to the best start for a coach in program history. Over his first 40 games, Wake Forest went in those contests. Muuss also owns an record through his first 16 games as a coach in regular-season ACC play with the only loss coming against Clemson last season.
