5 Goalie Evaluation Overview 6 or 7 evaluated sessions in total* Session 1 & 2 (World Pro) BV Coaches / Midget Players shooting in Session 2 4 to 5 nets used on ice Atom/PW split between 2 ice times, approx. 12 goalies per session Sessions #2 to #5 with skaters - Atom / PW Session #1 to #5 with skaters Bantam / Midget* World Pro 4 evaluators for Goalie Only Sessions 3 in track suits, 1 demo goalie, all evaluating Professional evaluators and coaches, trust their judgement Pinnie # s ed for next ice time may be delayed due to ranking calculations (WP & BV)

6 Goalie Evaluation Overview Evaluation criteria 7 point system (Weak to Excellent) Evaluated on Physical and Psychological traits as well as Technical skills (70% of mark) Weighting of WP and BV evaluators 60/40 Ranked through entire process, averaging scores after each session and re-ranking Goalie group size per ice time may fluctuate dependent on evaluation rankings, allowing for high goalies in lower group to compete with low goalie in higher group Later sessions, top ranked goalie(s) may not dress to allow for upward movement of lower ranked goalies

7 Goalie Evaluation Overview Goalies will be placed on teams based on final rankings Age groups with less than 2 goalies per team, ranking gaps and coordinator discretion to determine single goalie teams. Do they have the personality to be a single goalie; any future absences (vacations)? Ideally, lowest team in each age group will have 2 goalies to allow for affiliating Team designated as the affiliate team for the bottom team in a higher age group must have 2 goalies

8 Goalie Evaluation Overview Goalies can play on a lower team than previous season Different training levels, new to BVHS All based on current evaluation, not where goalies played last year Only 2 goalies per team means goalies with very similar skill sets will be on different teams, difficult concept as opposed to players 0.1 differentials may be the only gap to decide placement on 2 different teams Tight situations every year, rankings are heavily scrutinized No Grievance process for goalies

9 Goalie Evaluation Overview Too many goalies Age group notified of too many goalies Continue as goalie, skater or move to another association After Goalie Only Sessions, bottom ranked goalies advised Last 2 goalies required plus excess goalies notified Continue as goalie, skater or move to another association After Session #2 (Cascades) lowest ranked goalie(s) will be notified Continue as skater or arrangements made to play as a goalie in another association on a 1 year release 24 hours to notify BVHS Goalies switching to skater will be placed into future sessions based on their peer group and coach evaluations from previous season

11 Age Group Specific Goalies coming back from Calgary Buffaloes (CBHA) tryouts will be slotted in with their peer group. They are not permitted to participate in BVHS evaluations until released by CBHA Majority of goalies coming back should be released prior to the evaluation process beginning Bantam 14 Goalies (Excess of 2): 7 currently with CBHA 6 Teams estimated, split between checking / non-checking Midget 12 Goalies (Excess of 4): 8 currently with CBHA 4 Teams estimated, split between checking / non-checking

12 Additional Information World Pro Goaltending will prepare a report card for each goalie at the end of evaluations Delivered by end of October Encourage goalies to share with their head coach/goalie coach Questions regarding World Pro report card can be sent to goalies@bvhs.ca World Pro Goaltending is offering 13 sessions for the price of 10 sessions (multi-pack) for Bow Valley goalies. 13 2018 / 2019 Season BV will be running 5 goalie clinics this season One each month from October to February Goalie Coach / Head Coach resources BVHS website for drills, videos, etc. Developing network of BV goalie coaches Mentoring opportunity for older goalies Fair play for goalies, injuries One game or half game rotations (Atom) As per BV and Hockey Calgary policies
