Junior forward Carl Hagelin and sophomore forward Luke Glendening will wear A s after being chosen by their teammates. Chris Summers is U-M s captain. Michigan s penalty-killing unit ranks fifth in the country with a success rate of 91.5%. Despite being swept by MSU, U-M was 10-for-10 on the penalty kill last weekend. Carl Hagelin is the only Wolverine who has earned a point in each of the first five weekends of play. Hagelin is tied for second on the team with eight points on four goals and four assists. He had a single goal during the MSU series. U-M has equaled its longest losing streak since a four-game spell from Nov. 25-Dec. 3, The Wolverines have been out-scored 13-4 during the streak. Michigan has not suffered a five-game losing streak since the late fall of This Friday vs. Bowling Green, Michigan looks to break a three-game home losing streak, which ties for its longest stretch since a five-game losing streak at Yost Ice Arena during the season. Coach Berenson is in his 26th season behind the Michigan bench with a career record of (.670). Two career milestones are within his reach in First, Berenson needs 12 more wins to tie Len Ceglarski (Clarkson, Boston College) for sixth on the NCAA all-time coaching wins list. Second, U-M s 27th victory this season would push him to the 700-win plateau. Berenson s teams have averaged just under 27 wins per year since he took over the helm in FACEOFF LAST WEEK On Nov. 13, MSU capitalized on a U-M miscue behind its own net and put the Spartans up 1-0 at 7:48 of the first period. Michigan knotted the game at 1-1 at 12:54 of the second period when Lee Moffie scored from the left circle. The Spartans responded just 3:07 later to take a 2-1 lead. MSU opened up a two-goal advantage (3-1) when a Spartan slid into the net with the puck at 1:05 of the third period. Carl Hagelin brought the Wolverines within a goal with 7:53 remaining. U-M had a power play for the final 47 seconds of regulation but could not score the equalizer. On Nov. 14, MSU again scored the first goal, turning a U-M misplay into a goal at 12:58 of the first period. Michigan out-shot MSU 15-5 in the second period but could not solve Drew Palmisano. The Spartans took a 2-0 lead 1:22 into the third period. U-M was shut out despite taking 31 shots and earning six power plays. current STREAKS Player Games G-A-P Streak None Lineup on 11/14/09 at Michigan State Left Wing Center Right Wing 12-Hagelin 29-Caporusso 10-Brown 25-Wohlberg 19-Rust 27-Czarnik 23-Glendening 21-Treais 11-Lynch 14-Lebler 16-Winnett 3-Vaughan Defense Goalie 34-Llewellyn 4-C. Michigan s power play has not converted in the last three-plus games. Since a Chris Brown powerplay tally on Nov. 6 vs. Miami, U-M is in a 0-for-20 drought. Michigan was 0-for-11 with the man advantage in the MSU series.
