Quinnipiac clinched the 3rd seed in the tournament with a 5-2 win against Sacred Heart on Friday, Oct. 29 as it won its last three NEC games on its way to a 11-7 overall mark and a 5-2 record in league play. Monmouth concluded the regular season at 14-5 overall and 6-1 in the NEC, with its only loss coming to top-ranked Rider. NEC Tournament History Quinnipiac is 7-8 all-time in the Northeast Conference Championship Tournament, incluidng a 4-5 mark in semifinal games and a 3-2 record in the NEC Championship. The Bobcats have faced Monmouth twice in the NEC Tournament, with Quinnipiac leading the all-time series at 2-0. The Bobcats won five of its first six NEC Tournament games, but have won just twice since 2002, edging Sacred Heart and Rider for the 2003 NEC Tournament Championship. All-Time Against Monmouth Quinnipiac is 14-5 all-time against Monmouth, including wins in 11 of their previous 14 meetings. The Hawks got the better of the Bobcats in their last meeting, earlier this season, with a 3-2 win in West Long Branch, N.J. Quinnipiac and Monmouth have met twice in the NEC Tournament, with the Bobcats defeated the Hawks twice. Scouting The Hawks Monmouth enters this weekend s tournament at 14-5 overall and 6-1 in the NEC, with its only loss coming to top ranked Rider. Michelle Pieczynski leads Monmouth with 19 goals and six assists for 44 points while Patricia O Dwyer has scored 14 goals, while assisting on a team-high eight goals, for 36 points. In goal, Teresa Mathews is with three shutouts, a 1.76 goals-against average and a.728 save percetnage. Keep It Going Rook Danielle Allan, fresh off her second NEC Rookie of the Week honor, had her first career hat trick with a three-goal effort in a 5-2 win against Sacred Heart as Quinnipiac clinched the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Northeast Conference Championship. Three In A Row With three goals against SHU on Friday, Oct. 29, Danielle Allan became the first freshman in Quinnipiac history to score a goal in three consecutive games, while reaching the secondbest goal total (8) for a first-year player. One Of The All-Time Greats Megan McCreedy had a goal and an assist in the Bobcats 5-2 win against Sacred Heart. Mc- Creedy s 14 assists are a career-best, the most in Quinnipiac s history while also pushing her career assist total to 26, also the most in Quinnipiac history. Top Rookie Danielle Allan was named the NEC Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday, Oct. 23. Allan was second in the line-up and first among all Quinnipiac freshmen with two goals and four points in the Bobcats two wins this weekend. Allan scored her fourth goal of the year in the Bobcats 6-1 romp of Siena before putting Quinnipiac on the board with her fifth goal of the season against Bryant in a 2-0 win. Allan was also named Rookie of the Week on Aug. 29. BIG Week Megan McCreedy totaled four assists in a pair of wins against Siena (6-1) and Bryant (2-0). McCreedy had three on Friday against Siena to tie Jamie Cassesse for the program s singleseason record (12) and Julie Smith for the career record (24). Record Breaker McCreedy broke both records on Sunday in the Bobcats 2-0 win against Bryant. McCreedy,

2 Player Profiles a two-time All-Northeast Conference selection, is enjoying a banner year with career-highs in goals (2), assists (13) and points (17). Kate The Great Kaitlyn Notarianni became the 7th player in program history to reach the 50-point mark for her career. Notarianni trailed Cunniff heading into Friday afternoon s 6-1 win against Siena, 49-48, but scored Quinnipiac s third goal of the game to hit the half-century mark before her teammate Notarianni also became just the fourth player in Quinnipiac history to record 20 goals and 10 assists for her career. Kimmy s Career Year Kimberly Cunniff hit two milestones this weekend. She became the 8th player in program history to reach the 50-point mark for her career and the third player in program history to reach 30 points in a season. Her 13 goals for the year are also the second most in program history. Cunniff led Quinnipiac with three goals, scoring twice against Siena before scoring one goal and assisting on another against Bryant. Cunniff s 24 career goals also ranked 4th all-time. Shut-Down Keeper Goalkeeper Nicole Lewis allowed just one goal in a pair of NEC wins last weekend. Lewis stopped 13 of 14 shots on the cage from Siena in a 6-1 win before posting her second shutout of the season in a 2-0 blanking of Bryant. Lewis had three saves in the Sunday win as she becomes Quinnipiac s first goalie since Jenna Grossman in 2006 to win 10 games in a season. Making A Name For Herself Jess Rusin, with two goals against Saint Francis (Pa.), became the first Quinnipiac player to reach the 10-goal mark in a season since Rusin also leads the team in multiple-goal games with three on the year. Back-To-Back Stats For just the second time in Quinnipiac s Division I history, Rusin, Cunniff and Kaitlyn Notarianni give the Bobcats three 15-point scorers in back-to-back years. Very Trendy Quinnipiac is currently 7-1 at home this season, the most wins on their home turf since the Bobcats joined the Division I ranks, set in Athlete Of The Month Kimberly Cunniff was named the Quinnipiac Athlete of the Month for September. Cunniff led Quinnipiac with seven goals and one assist for 15 points. Cunniff totaled a point in five of Quinnipiac s eight games, including goals in five straight games. She scored against Yale, Colgate, Penn State, and Harvard while also picking up her first hat trick of her career in a 3-2 win against Lehigh. 5 BECCA MAIN KOHLI Head Coach 17th season Penn State 93 Now entering her 17th season in 2011, Quinnipiac field hockey coach Becca Main Kohli has built the Bobcats into an annual Northeast Conference power and a formidable regional opponent. Main Kohli s program continues to ascend to new heights. Six seasons ago a new era of Quinnipiac field hockey began with the opening of the new Artificial Turf Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex. A four-time Coach of the Year and three-time Northeast Conference Coach of the Year, Main Kohli has also brought Quinnipiac to two NCAA tournament appearances (2001, 2003). She also has established the program as one of the elite in the Northeast Conference. In 13 seasons in the league, Quinnipiac has registered a (.682) mark against NEC opponents in regular-season play and has owned at least a share of seven conference titles. During Main Kohli s tenure in Hamden, she has coached 65 All-Conference players, 14 Mideast Region All-Americans, three Northeast Conference Players of the Year, two NEC Goaltenders of the Year and one Rookie of the Year, as well as three NEC Tournament MVP s and five NFHCA North-South Senior Game participants. In 16 years, Main Kohli has tallied a record of winning her 100th game in 2006 versus St. Francis (PA). A highly respected member of the field hockey community, she was named First-Vice President of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and is also National Chair of the NFHCA All-American Committee and Hall of Fame Committees. Last season, in 2010, Main Kohli s Bobcats featured five all- Northeast Conference honorees, at Tina Watkins and Kim Cunniff earned first-team honors while Lauren Zimniski, Kaitlyn Notarianni and Katie Van Nostrand landed on the second team. In addition, Watkins was named to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-Mideast Region Second Team. In 2009 Jenna Grossman was named the Northeast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year for the second consecutive season. Grossman headlined a list of four Bobcats to earn all Northeast Conference honors this year, including fellow First Team selection Megan McCreedy and Brandy Longacre. Senior Bonnie Shea was named to the All-NEC Second Team. In addition, Grossman and Longacre were named to the 2009 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-Mideast Region Second Team. Off the field, the Bobcats featured 15 Northeast Conference Academic Honor Roll selections and 13 NFHCA Academic squad honorees, while Quinnipiac was named an NFHCA Academic Team for the sixth straight year. In 2008 four players earned All-Northeast Conference Honors, headlined by NEC Goalkeeper of the Year honors for Jenna Grossman, the second of her career. Lauren Hartnett, Megan Sciascia and Katie Van Nostrand were also honored by the NEC. Grossman also became the Bobcats 12th NFHCA Mideast All-region player. The team had 12 players earn NFHCA Academic squad honors while posting a 3.33 GPA to receive NFHCA National Academic Team honors. In 2007 four players earned All-NEC awards (Megan Dahle, Megan Sciascia, Megan McCreedy and Jenna Grossman) with also one also earning Regional All-American honors (Dahle). Quinnipiac also continued to excel in the classroom, as ten players earned NFHCA National Academic squad honors and the team earned NFHCA National Academic Team recognition for the fourth year in a row with an overall team G.P.A of In addition, senior Megan Dahle joined Lisa Scavotta as the team s second NEC Scholar Athlete of the Year Award when she notched a perfect 4.0 grade point average in the fall of In 2006 the team also made the history books with the gar-

6 Player Profiles nering of its first National All-American as goalkeeper Erin McKay earned NFHCA Third team National All-American status. In 2006, the Bobcats lost to the eventual NEC Champion in the semifinals of the NEC tournament where Quinnipiac had been in 8 of the last 9 conference championships. In 2004, Quinnipiac matched its single-season with 12 wins a year ago, closing with a 12-8 mark. For her efforts, she was recognized as the NEC Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Quinnipiac reached the NCAA tournament for the second time in three seasons in 2003 by virtue of a 2-1 win over Rider in the NEC tournament finals. The Bobcats played one of the toughest schedules in the nation in 2003 and nearly upset ACC member Virginia on the road in early October. In all, six players earned All-NEC honors under Main Kohli s guidance, with two more taking Regional All-America honors. The 2002 season produced another milestone for Main Kohli, who guided the Bobcats to a perfect 11-0 mark in NEC action. It was the first time in league history that a team closed the regular season undefeated. The Bobcats also reached the NEC championship game for the fourth straight season in 2002, losing to conference rival Rider, 2-0. The 2001 campaign was a magical one for Quinnipiac, as the Bobcats reached the NCAA Play-in game before falling to Cal- Berkeley. Quinnipiac closed the year with a 12-8 mark, setting a new benchmark for wins in a season. In their inaugural Division I season in 1998, the Bobcats finished with a 9-9 record and a share of the Northeast Conference regular-season title (6-2, tied with Sacred Heart) in Main Kohli was awarded with NEC Coach of the Year honors. In Quinnipiac s final season in Division II (1997), Main Kohli led her team to its second straight seven-win season and a berth in the Northeast-10 semifinals, while garnering the conference s Coach of the Year award. In just its second year as a varsity sport in 1996, Main Kohli guided Quinnipiac to seven wins and a third-place finish in the Northeast-10. campaigns. A standout student as well, she was a three-time Academic All-America selection as she earned a B.S. in health education and exercise science. After graduation, Main Kohli competed on the U.S. National Elite Team, traveling to San Diego, Holland, Argentina, and Ireland, where she was a reserve member of the squad that earned a bronze medal at the 1994 World Cup. A member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association and U.S. Field Hockey Association, Main Kohli is active in the Futures Program and the High Performance Training Centers as a Coach for the New England Fury. A native of Yardley, Pa., and Pennsbury High School - a three sport athlete (field hockey, Basketball, Track) at Pennsbury, Main Kohli was inducted into the Pennsbury Athletic Hall of Fame in October of Main Kohli also served as the head coach of the women s lacrosse program at Quinnipiac from and in Many of Quinnipiac s Field Hockey players have gone on to coach throughout the Northeast region including Julie Ryan (Smith) a 2002 graduate of Quinnipiac. Ryan currently serves as Head Coach at Babson University in Massachusetts after completing coaching stints at Yale University, Springfield College and Boston College. A 2005 graduate for the Bobcats, Jill DiSanti is currently serving as first Assistant at Monmouth University in New Jersey after a two year stint as an assistant with her alma mater. Cheryl Torino, a 2006 graduate from Quinnipiac spent a year at her high school, North Branford, Connecticut, and helped coach them to their first CIAC state title in 20 years. Torino went on to coach at the University of Rochester before returning to her alma mater where she is currently the Bobcats top assistant. Main Kohli resides in Southington with her two sons, Lucas James and Zachary Thomas. A 1994 graduate of Penn State, Main Kohli was a four-year standout for the Lady Lions, earning Mideast Regional All- America status three times and leading the team to three Final Four appearances. The Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Year recipient in 1993, Main Kohli also earned NFHCA All-America honors in both her junior and senior
