The series marks the first time that the Colonials will take on an opponent from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. The Colonials have struggled on the power play recently and have been shutout three times in the last four games while they prepare to face a Huskies defense that ranks 10th in the nation (2.31 goals per game.) St. Cloud, meanwhile, has gone in their last four games and are following a four-game losing streak in early November. Their goaltender Bobby Gopefert, ranks seventh in the nation in save percentage (.929) and 10th in goals against average (2.03). The Weekend That Was Robert Morris was swept by Niagara in a College Hockey America series last weekend, failing to score as they dropped 1-0 and 3-0 decisions. A first-period goal by Sean Bentivoglio stood up for nearly 45 minutes as Niagara University handed the Robert Morris University men s hockey team their fourth straight loss, 1-0, at Dwyer Arena on Friday night. The Colonials fall to on the year and in College Hockey America play while host Niagara improves to and in the CHA. The Colonials, who touted the second best power play in the nation heading into the game, failed to score on seven chances and have tallied just one power-play goal in their last 24 opportunities. Bentivoglio found the back of the net for the seventh time this season at 15:16 of the first period on assists from Jason Williamson and Matt Caruana. Jeff Van Nynatten made the goal stand-up, turning away all 26 Colonials shots to earn his first shout of the season. Sophomore goaltender Christian Boucher (Orleans, Ontario) finished with 29 saves for Robert Morris. Niagara, who went 0-6 with the man advantage, held a margin in shots on goal. The Robert Morris University men s ice hockey team was shutout for the second-straight night by Niagara University in a 3-0 loss at Dwyer Arena on Saturday night. The Purple Eagles (9-7- 1, College Hockey America) scored three times in the third period en route to handing the Colonials (4-9-1, CHA) their team-record fifth straight loss. Sean Bentivoglio scored twice in the third period, including an empty netter with eight seconds left to lead the Purple Eagles. The game was scoreless through the first 40 minutes before Bentivoglio recorded the game-

2 winner 55 seconds into the final frame. It was his second goal of the series and eighth of the season. Matt Caruana stretched the lead to 2-0 with an unassisted 4-on-4 goal at the 2:19 mark. Robert Morris held a advantage in shots on goal, however, Niagara goaltender Jeff Van Nynatten stopped all 32 shots for second shutout in as many nights. Boucher had 20 saves. Neither team scored on six power-play chances. On the Road Again... and Again... and Again Robert Morris makes the longest journey of it s current six-game road trip this weekend, going 932 miles one way on 1,864 miles round trip to St. Cloud, Minn. Robert Morris is in the midst of a six-game, 47- day, 3,500-mile road trip, the longest of the season for the Colonials, who had a six-game homestand prior to the beginning of this trip. The Colonials traveled 1,242 miles round trip three weeks ago the team travelled to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., to take on Lake Superior State and followed last week with the shortest drive of the road trip, 480 miles round trip to Niagara University. Robert Morris is 0-4 on the current road trip and on the road this season. Scoring Woes The Colonials have failed to score in their last two games and in three of their last four games. They have three goals in the last four games, all coming in a 4-3 overtime loss at Lake Superior State (11/26/05). In all, the team s scoreless span currently covers their last 125:05 of play. Welcome Back, Aaron Junior Aaron Clarke (Peterborough, Ontario) will be eligible to play for Robert Morris for the first time this weekend after sitting the Schooley Quotes past year following his transfer from Niagara University. Clarke, a forward, tallied six points on three goals and three assists in nine games during his time with Niagara in He picked up eight goals and five assists for 13 points in 32 games as a freshman in One Too Many The winning margin in six of the team s 14 games this season have been decided by onegoal, with the Colonials coming out on the plus-side of that score just once. The team is 1-5 in one-goal games this season. During their current five-game slide, three of the games have been decided by one goal. Recent Power Outage It s hard to believe the Colonials still boast the 10th-best power play in the nation considering they have scored just once in their last 30 opportunties, a.033 percentage. The recent slide has taken place over the last six games, during which the team is Prior to the recent downswing, the team had at least one power-play goal in 7-of-8 games to open the season. The Colonials were (.316) through the first eight games of the season. We need to find the confidence to step-up and score the big goal to tie it or put us in a situation to succeed. Our penalty kill was excellent but our power play, which carried us earlier in the season, let us down. Goaltender Christian Boucher was excellent all weekend long as was Niagara s goaltending. On the St. Cloud State series We are in the midst of the hardest scheduling stretch in our short program history and this weekend doesn t get any easier. St. Cloud is a much improved team from a very strong conference. Bob Motzko is an excellent coach and he has this team playing very well. The have excellent goaltending and this is going to be a very difficult series. We need to put together a good weekend heading into Christmas break and CHA play. With finals over, our players should be excited to play St Cloud.

The Colonials do not have any games against Hockey East scheduled and still have never met a Hockey East team. Robert Morris has a six-game homestand from Oct. 28-Nov. 19 followed by a six-game road trip from Nov. 25-Dec. 18. They will not play at the ISC for 48 days from Nov. 19 to Jan. 6.

5 Tri-City Triple Three Robert Morris players spent time with the Tri-City Storm prior to becoming a part of the Colonials. Junior Doug Conley (Amherst, Mass.) and sophomores David Boguslawski (Cottage Grove, Minn.) and Jace Buzek (Greensburg, Pa.) played for the Storm. Buzek led the team in scoring with 17 points. Boguslawski tied for second on the team with 15 points and Conley tied for sixth on the team with 13 points. They combined for 45 of the Colonials 167 points. Colonials Upperclassmen The Colonials roster features just five upperclassmen, four juniors and one senior, five times as many upperclassmen as they had in Senior co-captain Kurt Wright (Barnstable, Mass.) was the team s only upperclassmen last year and is the team s only senior this season. Aaron Clarke (Peterborough, Ontario) will have to sit out until December of 2005 after transferring from Niagara University while Ryan Cruthers (Farmingdale, N.Y.) is unavailable until the season after coming to RMU via Army. Forward Doug Conley (Amherst, N.Y.) and goaltender Joe Tuset (Eagan, Minn.) round out the junior class. Spanning the Continent The Colonials roster has players from all over North America with 12 different states or provinces represented. Not surprisingly, Ontario leads the way with six players followed by Minnesota with five. Four players list Pennsylvania as their home state while Alberta, Illinois, New York and Michigan have two each and Washington, Massachusetts, Manitoba, California and Colorado have one each. Fly Boy If any of the Colonials flights have pilot troubles this season, freshman forward Joel Gasper (Crookston, Minn. / Billings Bulls) could lend a helping hand. Against Atlantic Hockey The Colonials have finished with Atlantic Hockey opponents for the season after splitting with Bentley on 10/21/04 and 10/22/04. 9 Head Coach Derek Schooley Now in his second season at the helm of the Robert Morris program, head coach Derek Schooley is looking to improve on whay many people thought was a succesful debut for the Colonials in their inaugural season. The Colonials posted an overall mark and a record in College Hockey America play in Schooley s first season as a coach. Many people thought than anything other than a zero in the win column would be a surprise for the first year team. However, Schooley and his staff would not accept any excuses from the Colonial players and pushed his team to vie for a CHA Championship and a NCAA Tournament berth. In his second season, those expectations for the program have not changed. Schooley comes to Robert Morris after spending the previous five seasons as an assistant coach at the United States Air Force Academy. He spent his first four seasons with the Falcons as an assistant coach before being promoted to associate head coach prior to the season. The Colonial men s ice hockey team will begin play during the season. While at Air Force, Schooley coached a defensive unit that broke the school record for goals against average in two of the last four seasons. The team s goals against average of 2.91 in broke the record of 3.18 set a year earlier. Along with leading the defense at Air Force, Schooley assisted with nation-wide recruiting efforts. Prior to Air Force, Schooley spent a year as an assistant coach at Cornell during the season. He started his coaching career with the Chicago Freeze of the North American Hockey League in 1997 as an assistant coach and director of scouting. During the season, Schooley played for current Air Force head coach Frank Serratore with the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL). The Lancers claimed both the regular season (Anderson Cup) and playoff (Clark Cup) championships, and Schooley was named the Defensiveman of the Year. A 1994 graduate of Western Michigan University with a bachelor s of science degree in communications, Schooley was a four-year letterwinner as a defenseman with the Broncos. As a senior during the campaign, he tallied 23 assists and scored 27 points in 40 games, earning Central Collegiate Hockey League (CCHL) Defensive Player of the Week honors Feb 4, Also during the campaign he was given the KOHA Grinder of the Year award and led the Broncos in plus-minus ratio with a +22. Following his graduation from Western Michigan, Schooley played for the Huntington (W. Va.) Blizzard of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) during the season. In 66 games he scored 18 points and compiled 151 penalty minutes. During the campaign Schooley spent part of the season with the Blizzard before joining the Flint (Mich.) Generals, where he helped the team to a Colonial Hockey League (CoHL) championship. During the season, Schooley played for both the Pensacola Ice Pilots and the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL. In 2001, Schooley was a head coach at the USA Hockey Select 14 and Select 15 Festival. He also has spoken at USA Hockey youth coaching clinics in Boulder, Colo., Jackson Hole, Wyo., Phoenix, Ariz. and Dallas, Texas. In August of 2002, Schooley gained international coaching experience as he was named an assistant coach with the 2002 United States Under-18 Select Team which placed fifth in the Junior World Cup in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Piestany, Slovakia. A native of St. Louis, Mo., Schooley is married to the former Alicia Batson from Middleville, Mich. They are the proud parents of daughter Kaitlyn (2) and Brendan (1).
